Kewell to ROMA
June 20, 2008 AUSTRALIA captain Harry Kewell is in talks with Italian powerhouse Roma, as his search for a new club reaches its final stages.
According to reports in the Italian media, which sources in Rome have authenticated, the former Liverpool forward has been in negotiations with Roma for more than a fortnight, with the Serie A giants believed to be weighing up an offer for either Kewell or Manchester United's Louis Saha.
Saha has fallen out of favour at United, after an injury record as bedevilled as Kewell's, but would probably still require a transfer fee whereas Kewell is a free agent.
Contacted on Thursday in Paris, Kewell's manager Bernie Mandic refused to comment on his player's future, beyond saying: "We have a number of high quality options and are continuing our negotiations."
Roma have just signed Liverpool defender John Arne Riise, offering the possibility of re-creating the left-sided combination that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez long planned to deploy.

Re: Kewell to ROMA
would be a good move for Kewell if it happens.
he'll be able to get some tips from Totti on how to take a penalty kick.

I feel for Harry as he's struggled to regain his fitness that promoted him to superstar status as a youngster plying his trade in Leeds. It's been a big fall from grace after spending the better part of 4 years at Liverpool who have gladly showed him the door. I'm not too sure that his best is behind him and hopefully he passes this fitness test at Roma and gets signed for four years and proves the anfield faithful wrong. I'm a big Reds fan, and a Harry Kewell fan and I really do wish him the best, hopefully its at Roma.

his best is behind him because he doesnt have the explosive speed he once had. everyone seems to forget this, his speed was a large part of his effectiveness when he was younger.
he's still a good player and very skilled, but he needs to show more guile to make up for what he has lost as an athlete. he should do better in a league where the pace is not as high as the EPL. not sure if Serie A is that place. maybe the Primera he'd be better suited.

Harry Kewell is a great player, dont bag him just because he had 5 years of injuries.
we are all frusturated but think of how he must feel.
we need for the next world cup as he did for us in the last world cup, so instead of bagging him, pray he stays fit and healthy to help us get to world cup and do better than last world cup.

what? if you want to be an elite sportsmen you should have the body to handle what your doing. Kewell has been in good knick lately and thank god for that but beforehand the reason he got sold from Liverpool was because his body couldnt handle it.Levendi wrote:Lilly Whites wrote:if you want to be an elite sportsmen you should be able to handle the wear and tear.
