not expecting many people to say that

had a feeling from even before we lost 3-0 that it would all come down to the last match against great rivals the French

Its going to be a great game either way. I expect The Dutch to destroy Romania and France and Italy to battle it out.

we might put a 2nd team on

is a draw with romania still bad for italy/france cause of goal difference?

It is out of the Azzurri’s hands, but they could reach the Euro 2008 quarter-finals even with a draw.

Holland’s 4-1 thrashing of France has sent Marco Van Basten’s men through to the next round and guaranteed top spot in Group C with six points.

The second qualification spot is up in the air, as Romania have two with France and Italy on one apiece.

This means that Romania will definitely go through if they beat Holland – something they already achieved in qualifying for this tournament.

However, it is possible that the Azzurri could reach the quarters even with only a draw against France.

That is because if Holland beat Romania and Italy draw with Les Bleus by scoring at least one goal, all three teams would be tied on two points.

The head-to-head record would be entirely even with a draw in each encounter, but Italy would have a better goal difference in these clashes, having scored against both Romania and France.

The fact remains that it is out of Roberto Donadoni’s hands, as Holland need to get a result against Romania.

This is worrying for three reasons and the Italian media is already swarming around two of them. Firstly, Romania won their qualifying group ahead of Holland, having managed a win and a draw in those encounters.

Second, the Dutch are already qualified and could field a second string side, safe in the knowledge leadership of Group C is assured.

The third and most dispiriting conspiracy theory is that the way the competition is structured means Holland could knock out Italy and France, therefore avoiding a potential semi-final rematch.

It brings back unfortunate memories of Euro 2004, when the Nazionale was eliminated despite beating Bulgaria in the final round because Denmark and Sweden drew 2-2 – the only result that guaranteed both Scandinavians would go through.
that sums up the scenario

how many Dutch are walking the yellow card tightrope Huntelaar?? cause they are certainties not to play

pretty naive to think they will destroy romania, holland is already through, id expect them to rest the better players, stil have enough quality but i reckon they would rather see italy and france out and romania through

Romania will beat Holland.

Think about it. Why would the dutch try and knock Romania out when they can knock Italy & France out in one hit. With a potential semi final against the Italians or the French possible, they will play a 2nd string team and play with no desire.

If Netherlands are smart, they'll give the win to Romania and this game won't count for anything other than pride.

If the Dutch had the confidence to win the whole tournament, they wouldn't care about Italy or France and would only care about continuing their good form, which means beating Romania. If they're worried about Italy and France going through, then they won't win it IMO

mate I'm more worried about the current form of La Nazionale than the number of Laziali in the squad

maybe concentrate on supporting Italia. do yourself a favour, listen to the Irriducibili sing Fratelli D'Italia. might learn something.

The Dutch wont wont to loose, especially if Van Basten wants any chance of a coaching career in Italy in the future, which he has already said he would like (with AC Milan).

mate i am a roma supporter and i don't care how many lazio players or roma players are in the italian national team...i mean i would love lots of roma players in there and all to start but in a tournament like this it is about italy winning!
So just get behind gli Azzurri and support them going through to the next round thanks to an Aquilani strike :D
