Euro 2008 - TV Coverage
I'm not 100 percent sure on the coverage of the tournamnet but this is what i understand -
1. All Euro games will be broadcasted on Setanta Sport which is on pay television.
2. SBS will be showing 8 live games including the final on free to air television.
-http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/euro-200 ... bs-110975/
From my understanding Fox Sports wont be showing games?
Can someone confirm this?

i hope setanta improve their telecast of soccer matches. The commentry of games on their at the moment is boring and dull to say the least. Long pauses of silence followed by loud screams at a half chances are annoying! the sound is also crap, they dub the crowd/atmosphere a bit.
Re: Euro 2008 - TV Coverage
This is an absolute joke!!
Foxtel subscribers pay enough money as it in order to view there programs. So now in order to watch Euro 2008 games you have to pay extra. What a load of rubbish.
As for SBS... How can they not show a Greek or Italian game on free to air. they should be ashamed of themselves considering the number of Greeks and Italians in Australia.

I doubt it would have been thier decision!Rocky10 wrote:As for SBS... How can they not show a Greek or Italian game on free to air. they should be ashamed of themselves considering the number of Greeks and Italians in Australia.
Setanta is a business who realise -> who will pay for subscriptions just to see their team, potentially Greeks and Italians.

Re: Euro 2008 - TV Coverage
For people that already have Foxtel it's so much easier to get Setanta on Foxtel than getting a satellite dish. Plus with Foxtel people can watch Barclays English Premier League Football, Coca-Cola Championship Football, AFC Asian Champions League Football, Hyundai A-League Football, Spanish La Liga Football, Serie A TIM Football, Major League Soccer as well as some international friendlies. Plus they also get stuff like movie channels etcThe fault lies with foxtel, not setanta. You don't need foxtel to get setanta.
I tend to agree, Serie A coverage is so crap compared to the quality they had on ESPN. Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, the sound quality was really bad and the commentator is really annoying. Other than that though, I find that the commentators are quite good and the picture and sound quality is also fairly good despite the occassional glitch where the picture will cut out for a few seconds/minutes.The commentary and sound is only crap on the serie a and south american stuff. The rest is quite good.

For those interested, Setanta Sports is available on Foxtel through Telstra, Austar, UBI World TV and also as a stand alone channel with the installation of a Satellite Dish.

Many people at work is whingeing you have to pay $60/mth and now another $15. All I am saying is you don't have to pay that $60. It comes down to choice... the choice is there. No-one is forced to pay for an overpriced foxtel.Madridista612 wrote:For people that already have Foxtel it's so much easier to get Setanta on Foxtel than getting a satellite dish.
And why do you delete people's names out of quotes?

I don't delete their names at all....thing is when I click on the quote tag and copy and paste stuff they've said, it just says "quote" don't know how to quote with their names in the actual box.???
It is true though Foxtel can get expensive but for a true football fan it's really the only way. Unless you have a pirated Sky Sports signal (man I wish I had that channel) OR you stream a lot of football on the net.

That explains the quoting. I just wanted to watch some football. It didn't matter what league it was and I didn't want to pay for 50 channels I don't need. Setanta satellite direct was the cheapest option with more than I can watch, and from the same satellite FTA channels show Hungarian, Greek and Romanian football. Okay the Romanian stuff isn't that good, but the other two aren't too bad. Actually I like watching the Hungarian stuff.

Yeh I definately wouldn't mind having the Greek league, Olympiakos, Panathanaikos and AEK are always good to watch, Panionios is the team I follow in the Greek league so it wouldn't be bad watching them either. I went to get the Greek league on Foxtel because I thought it was on the Greek channel Antenna but apparently only some teams are on Antenna and the top teams are on ERT which isn't available on Foxtel, I was going to get SelecTV to go with my Foxtel but with Antenna, ERT and RAI it ended up being way too expensive. The Hungarian and Romanian football I could also stand to watch.Bodø Glimt wrote:That explains the quoting. If you look at the bottom right of each post there is a "quote" button.

ERT is on the satellite that I get and it's a free channel. They too can only show home matches of certain clubs. With satellite channels you can channel flick and be surprised at what you find. I look at the guides for some of them, but not the ones in Arabic.Madridista612 wrote:Yeh I definately wouldn't mind having the Greek league, Olympiakos, Panathanaikos and AEK are always good to watch, Panionios is the team I follow in the Greek league so it wouldn't be bad watching them either. It's probably something I'd be looking into later down the track, thing with me is when it comes to football i'm pretty insatiable, as soon as I got Setanta Sports, I wanted to get SelecTV to get RAI, ERT and Antenna and i'm sure that after that I'd probably want to get all the channels available on UBI TV on the off chance that they would have some football as well (I know they have Chilean Football at least) but yeh, definately something I'll set up later once I can be bothered to organise it all and budget to see how much it will cost and exactly whether I'll be able to make good use of it all.
Any news on how to get the Danish and Swedish leagues or Spanish Segunda, because those 3 i'd be REALLY interested in.

No idea. As far as I know none of the Scandinavian broadcasters have services on satellites that can be accessed in Australia.Madridista612 wrote:Any news on how to get the Danish and Swedish leagues or Spanish Segunda, because those 3 i'd be REALLY interested in.

UBI is on the same satellite I have, but there's nothing on there that appeals to me. If they came up with a Japanese package we'd look at it, but other than that I don't have a need for pay tv.
