Villa will take out Div 2.

Post by southunited »

Having played Villa last year and being on the end of a couple of hidings from them i still think they are favourites to take out the Sat Div 2 comp... That's as long as they have retained the same line-up as last season... Very tough, skilful side..

Having already played Flinders and Sturt (leading both sides during the game only to lose due to lack of fitness) I believe that Villa are strong enough to knock these two teams off... Flinders have a good side, a few very big boys which we found difficult to mark and a few skillful players could trouble Villa... Going on the weekend score sounds like a tough game...

I found Sturt Marion to be the least skillful of the lot, very slow back 4, not much creativity from the middle but certainly a hard working, fit team...

They defeated Villa in the first round, with Villa apparently having players a few key palyers out, if that is the case, Looking forward to the second round match between these two...

As for Monarchs... Going well, haven't played them as yet, so can't comment...

Should be very interesting to see how this all pans out...

As for us Uni boys, well i suppose we are going to have to start training on Tuesdays nights to be competitive in this comp...

Love your post!
You are dead right, we played Sturt Marion with only three of our now, starting eleven! Boys back from injury plus a couple more late signings has added a hell of alot more strength and depth! Green and Gold looking better every week! All the best for the seaeson SOUTHUNITED. catch up with you guys very soon!

No, we got pumped 5-1 away. Definitely a smashing. The best thing that ever happened for us! We gauged early where we have to be and have improved sustantially since! An important point though is that we were missing a lot of players on that particular day. If you were a Scalzi ( six of them), you were at a wedding, De-Rosa missing, Cerrachio missing plus six others!
Different story next time I can assure you.

I'm guessing southunited your from Adelaide Uni? if so ,your guys fitness didn't seem to be the problem, you deserved a draw against us (flinders) but the toss fell our way, as for the league.... Villa were a good side but i dont think its going to be that clear cut with us and Sturt Marion, both Monarchs and FC Adelaide will be there and then theres you guys, budapest and Breakers all capable of taking points of anybody, i think it will be really close, nobody is going to run away with it and with a league like ours you lose two of your best players and you dont have replacements to step up to the same standard. I am hoping we all get Sat div 1 teams in the cup so we can see the difference, my guess is that it will be very close, we beat your Div 1 team in the cup last year and lost a close one to St Peters.(they only beat us cause they had warm up jackets)
Anyway goodluck to all except Monarchs (were playing them this weekend)

I think everyone has also failed to mention The Cove.......I think with my cousin Paul still coaching them they will be right up amongst it. We play them in a couple of weeks and I hope to kick his ass again as i did in our junior days  If anyone is from the Cove tell him that Jamie and Brenton cant wait for that trip down South rd, somewhere around Antarctica way, and that we will be sure to spill our maltese blood for the 3 points

On the players to return front, were expecting another 8-10 back this week and fark knows where we are goinng to fit everyone. The A team is now starting to gell together and we have plenty of depth deep down to our c team. A 5-1 loss to Sturt Marion and a poor defeat against a 11 man defence in Budapest has only strengthened our resolve but we are not expecting one easy game this year and have nothing but total respect for our opposition.

BRO!
what the hell are you doing. All that you are doing is stiring Paul and the Cove up! They will want to eat us alive before we even get kitted up!

Love to see you destroy the Monarchs!
Tip: A very short side. Play your height to your advantage. Play wide and get the crosses in to your taller players. Keeper not experienced. Will fumble high balls. Put pressure on him and try to lob as many balls into the box as possible!
Good game saturday- cant wait for the next hit out with you guys.

You guys are the keepers for the A's and B's? i was watching the B's game from afar and thought you only had one keeper for the whole day.

Looks like your reserve team (villa) will be back to Flinders in a couple of weeks for the cup game. We (A's) have to go all the way to fucking parafield

That's generally the case when you come out of the same womb!!! but 10 years apart, you wouldn't beleive the A team keeper is ten years older now would you?

Looking forward to another tough hit out against your boys in the B's

Our A's get a chance for early vengence against Sturt Marion.......

I was wondering if you'd be there. I don't know where Cove's ground is and the buse services to that area are run by another company so I couldn't even give you a rough estimate. Kurralta Park???? I used to live there but I thought your team played in Renown Park. Isn't it the one off Swan street or something like that? I'd better do my homework.

We all do that. I know someone has hailed me down, asked me if I go somewhere and I've said no and suggested an alternate bus number... then twenty minutes later drive though said location and thought "f*** I do go here" by which time it's too late. Anyway, see you there.

Enjoy that game... Wouldn't surprise me if that game gets abandoned... Cougars are the biggest bunch of whingers we have played all year.... Plus they are very physical and love to get stuck in, i have absolutely no problems with them playing like that but if you can dish it out surely you should be able to take it as well... As for the cougars, that isn't the case....

Cove's ground is about 30 min. from city, its off Lonsdale Highway (Brighton Rd turns into Lonsdale Highway) keep driving up and down the hills and you can't miss it. Maybe keep your window down and listen out for whinging Scottsmen

Hey Bodo, to add a little more spice to your pizza for the afternoon get this.....

Our first team keeper Mr Govilla played at Cougers for the last 8 years or so..........till I enticed him over and relinquished my first team spot to play and coach the reserves.
We have at least 4 ex Cougers players in our squads....................
And our womens team defected to Villa and from you know who.................yep you guessed it!!

Now do you like chillies on your pizza's or you can do without on Saturday?

GO THE GREEN AND GOLD
It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the fight of the dog inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this sounds crazy because we lost 5-1 to them last time, but they arent really that good. 4-5 teams in our league capable of beating them.

Fair enough. i think that often we play teams that we 'should have beaten', but didn't. The fact that you lost to them immediately puts you 3 points behind them, and now your playing catch up. I still think that having half of Sterling's first team from last year they will have the experience to not lose the league from where they are now..... You are in strife of beating them I think.....
