Modbury 1 - 1 SPOC.
I know i'm a bit biased but i think that SPOC had more of the play in their attacking half. Not too many chances of note apart from a couple for each. Two teams that I think will certainly be challenging for the title.
Thanks to Modbury for the great pitch and the players really are a great bunch of lads who just love to play their football. Can't wait to have a full strength squad back on the Lloyd later in the year.....
Anyone know Wanderers v Sterling - probably not back from the alps just yet.....

Saturday Division two:
A's: Ma Hawks 0 Adelaide Monarchs 5
B's: Ma Hawks 0 Adelaide Monarchs 4
Like last week I am going to start off with a question - two in fact, one on ethics and one on the laws of the game. Firstly if the ball go out of play who's reponsibility is it to go and get it. Today in the reserves game the ball went out for a Monarchs' corner and the player was at the corner waiting to take it but the ball was no where to be seen when one of the Hawks' players yelled out "it's your corner, get the ball", which made me think about who should get it. My first thought was yes it's his corner, but your the home team. Shouldn't you have people to get the ball and more importantly shouldn't there be a second ball ready for this situation. I know there's a requirement for a second match ball, but no matter what the ground is, the second match ball is rarely ready to be despatched immediately.
My second question regards the referee. Generally when the ball strikes the referee both sets of fans cheer, but the referee is classed as part of the game (like the post) and usually it's play on. Today in the A's a free kick was taken which hit the referee and rebounded to the player who took the free kick and he played it. As it had touched no other player surely he wasn't allowed to touch it and an indirect freekick ought to have been given the other way. That's what I thought and I had a discussion with a couple of the Hawks' fans about this.
Anyway, to the games. The reserves game the Monarchs were quite clearly the better side. The first goal went straight in from a corner and the second was backheader own goal which looped over an advancing keeper who had no chance, but the third and fourth were both well taken chances by the same player, which by the reaction of his fans and the celebration of the player himself gave the impression of a London bus... none for ages and then two in succession. Actually he could have had a hatrick had he not tried to kick the crap out of the air towards the end of the game.
The A's had a resemblance in that it was 0-1 at halftime before an avalance of goals in the second half. There was a penalty and a red card but the game was over by then.

Re: Results 10/11 May here...
hmm dunno mite be abit biased lol.. but yea i suppose we were expect to be beaten but we put up a good fight! wasnt the best game of football, few scrappy goals from defensive errors, bosa did well to come back from 1 down to lead 2-1.. lookes as if theyd go on with it but 2 quick goals, first from the spot which id say was there, then a nice chip over the keeper sealed it.

Well done today. In the B's we got out of the starting blocks too slow.
In terms of the A's, a nice touch not singing the song what with the news that the club received at half time.

Well done Villa, we played one of the worst games we have played this season, I think the commitment was there but tactically we were shite, played that long ball to the tall striker all f-ing day. But saying that it was a very close game with very few clear cut chances, i would say you guys had the first half but we had the second. Your keeper is quality.
