Roma Furious As United 'Poach' Petrucci

Manchester United are chasing highly-rated Roma youngster Davide Petrucci. The interest has caused the 16-year-old starlet to turn down a contract offer, leaving the Giallorossi bosses furious.

The young striker is the top goal-scorer in Roma’s youth academy team and is already one of the star players of the Italian under-17 side.

According to Il Romanista, United’s interest is the reason for Petrucci rejecting Roma's offer, with the Old Trafford club reportedly offering highly increased wages and the prospect of a house in Manchester so that the player can move along with his family.

In Italy, clubs are not required to sign players to a professional contract before they turn nineteen, however, Roma had made an exception with Petrucci specifically to prevent foreign clubs from poaching their young talent.

However, the youngster has turned down Roma’s offer in order to consider his options and await any other potential offers for his services, following contact between his agent and United.

The relationship between Serie A clubs with those in the Premier League is already strained after English clubs were criticised for persistently exploiting regulations in their favour to try to sign young Italian players.

Petrucci’s situation is extremely similar to those that saw United sign ex-Parma youngster Giuseppe Rossi and Arsenal add Arturo Lupoli before they could legally sign a professional deal in Italy.

Roma are determined to take a hard line against the player, and Petrucci has been left out of training for the previous three days, much like Pique was at Barcelona before he left for Old Trafford - just before he turned 16.

stronzo

we develop our own talent and it is of very high quality, hence why Man U are looking for youth players in Roma's youth system

the Italians make up the core of Serie A with foreigners filling the gaps where needed

whereas the EPL is full of foreigners, some class and some shit, with the English filling the gaps

Agreed, il duce knows what he is talking about. We do develop our own talent and it is of the highest quality as the great Laziale analyst just said, and it is just only getting better and better. World Cups will come flying in the future. We will have the most dominate team in the world. Look at the players coming through: Balotelli, Paloschi, Cigarini, De Silvestri, Dessena, Nocerino, Viviano etc.

Roma are a disgrace, do you really think there are no scouts watching these youngsters train and play? do you really think no one is for sale? money talks, and if im not mistaken arent roma up for sale? doesnt someone want to buy them? you guys are happy for roma to take the money to survive but dont want to let go of your starlet players? give us a break mate

Lets be serious guys, while i watch and follow English football i find shit like this disgusting. But whose to blame? you cant blame man.u im sure they have scouts in every country in every continant in the football playing world. If there is a quality player playing in Mali or Madrid it makes no difference to them. Its up to the player, if a player is chasing a little more cash when he is 15-16 imagine what he will be like when hes 25. There is very little loyalty in football. F-all loyalty since Matt Le Tissier of Southampton, im sure there are Italian equivelants(i dont consider it loyalty when a player is already playing for a top team (Giggs, Maldini for examply) thats just smart).

AC Milan aren't exactly looking for all Italians to bolster their squad either. It's just modern football!

Steve Bull played division 2 football (championship) for Wolves turning down contracts to play for Div One (premiership) sides in the process. You are spot on though, loyalty is non existant in football.

Inter are the exception to the rule, even Milan have a number of eyetalian players in their first team, espeically their spine. As fopr the ppaching, its to be expected, but do these eyetalians kids realise thier future with the Azzuri senior team is almost shot... they know how good eyetalian clubs develop talent and how shit the rest of the world is shit (except for Brazil and Argentina of course), espeically the fucking English. So good luck to the riommanisti scum
