Partizan win Serbian Cup

Post by TM87 »

Partizan Belgrade have lifted the Serbian Cup after a Lamine Diarra hat-trick gave them a 3-0 win over second division neighbours Zemun.

The victory put Partizan firmly on course to win the domestic double as they lead the first division by three points from champions and city rivals Red Star with four games left.

They strolled to their 10th cup title and their first since 2001 in a one-sided final against Zemun, who risk relegation into Serbia's third tier but who will play in the UEFA Cup if Partizan win the league.

Diarra opened the scoring in the 12th minute when he unleashed a fierce shot past Partizan's former goalkeeper Nemanja Jovsic after Portuguese midfielder Moreira beat two defenders and put him through.

The Senegalese striker made it 2-0 shortly before half-time with a simple finish and Jovsic produced a string of good saves before Diarra wrapped up the win with an injury-time header.
This team has the talent to surprise in next years champions league qualifications.

very talented squad... but the problem is that they lose all their best players to bigger clubs... Jovetic, Rukavina, Sulejmani and many more have left or are leaving. All these players are huge talents but the club lacks the influence and environment to keep these players. I may add that Partizan has one of the best youth Systems in Europe and they produce alot of great players but they just leave the club at a young age.
"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
