If there are seven players on the field the game should go ahead. Until it gets down to six you have sufficient players to play on.mattieg1200 wrote:Div 4 W

Interesting this, How many 'on field players did Cumby have when they played their semi final against Eliz Grove last year? I thought it was less! If this is correct then why double standards? If the same then ditto above wy double standards. This is not aimed at anyone just curious if the same ruels apply for league as cup?

Re: Round 1 results
Hey people!
We have been reading this forum for a while now and never really joined in as we thought it was more a thing for the girls who play...I must say though that it's a bit disappointing that you all talk a lot about the charity cup, you complain a lot about the SASI program, SAWSA, the coaches etc. but then, when the games actually take place you do not comment them or tell us how they went! We are not too sure of who you all are that post on this website, but we know that a lot of parents and a lot of young girls read it, and it would be nice to read about soccer sometimes too, especially after the games! For example, what happened yesterday? Were the games good? In the past week or so we read that that Fulham defence was 'rock solid', and Fulham won the charity game. What happened then? We heard that Adelaide City hit the crossbar three times and that their team was much better organised that Fulham. Then they won 3-1. Is this true? If it is...what went wrong? We will see Fulham next week, but surely we expected a different result. And why nobody comments on the fact that Cumberland won and outplayed Metro when you all seemed to think that Cumberland was going to be just a bunch of losers? What happened then? Where is now Billy the Kid who only a few days ago posted comments like:
"City is an unknown. Have recruited well however, its the man at the top who has some ??????"
"Cumby with Grossy? Ok. Nxt question."
Do you know these coaches? Why are they not good? Who are the coaches that we should be looking at for the young players then? Is it fair for the young girls who play at Cumby or City to read things like that? Is it fair for parents who take their daughters to SASI every training to read your negative comments about the coach who should go etcetera? Why don't you explain us what's wrong with them and what's great about other clubs, coaches etc so that we can have a better idea on where it is good for the girls to play? For example, we read that Sturt has recruited a lot of young players this year, including Kristyn Swaffer. They haven't been good at all in the past season, but now they will be. I was talking to a players' parents recently (she was in the state development squad) and they said that Tracey Jenkins has been approaching a lot (if not all of them!) of girls from the development squads and the young sensations to go to play at Sturt. Now, we are led to believe that she is a good coach (state coach, sasi coach etc), and this year Sturt may win the league. But will those players be 'her' players?? What were Sturt's results when they only had normal players? Are they getting players now because they are recruiting or because the coach is good? Why good players didn't want to go there in the past, wasn't she the coach?? Grossy was a state coach and last year won brilliantly the U17 league. He seems to develop players and as you see from yesterday Cumberland can certainly play against big clubs. Edoardo last year was the Rising Stars coach, when the program was run by SASI, and as far as we understand he did an excellent job with those young players. He had to leave the program early as he was appointed by SAWSA as U12 state coach and, again, as far as we know their trip to QLD was very positive. But then, reading this forum it seems that there are no good coaches around, that SASI is a waste of time, that if you want to do well you have to go interstate etc.
We read this forum, a lot of people do, and the young players do so too. Can you guys talk more about soccer and less about pettiness? This is a good start for promoting the game (as you have been discussing here as well) internally and not bagging the system and the coaches continually. Sure that players can learn something from all coaches, can't they?
PS well done to Para Hills, the cup round with Cumby, Adelaide City, Para Hills and Sturt Marion seem a very though one! Who do you think will go through, and WHY?

Re: Round 1 results
Well I for one will say it was a very hard fought win for Cumby over Metro yesterday.
Congratulations to the girls in both teams for putting up a great game.
If that was anything to go by, then this years Premier League will be very interesting to follow, and probably closer than many people have predicted.

You are right asking clubs / teams etc to give more information about how 'their' games went as it is interesting to hear different views of games, as you saw with the charity cup game. But it is also good at times to raise other issues like sawsa, sasi and or other 'problems' that people / persons / clubs are having as this can lead to good ideas being brought up and hopefully the people in the right places taking 'constructive criticism' for what it is worth. To be negative for the sake of negitivity is not good but sometimes from this other people come up with good ideas for others.
As you did by posting why clubs are not providing more information about how their teams went in the first round.
So over to those in the know.
P.S. I can tell you though, that there was a good game between city reserves and Fulham reserves. Score 4-3 to Fulham. If I'm right Fulhan didn't beat city reserves all last year and with some young players in their squad this year, it was a marked improvment. At times Fulham looked like they could run away with the game, being two nil up and then letting city back in the game. Fulham then pulled away again to be 4-2 up and again city hit back with another goal making it a nail baiting end. The Fulham keeper pulled off some good saves and probably kept Fulham in the game.
Just a whisper though!

Re: Round 1 results
Thank you Adelaide Pie. That seemed a good game.
I didn't mean to criticise this forum, but to suggest to talk more about the sport and to back up the negative comments. I'm sure that the negative comments may be useful, but not if they remain childish remarks at the expenses of particular individuals. I referred specifically to Billy the Kid who in previous posts has been utterly negative about Chris Gross but she/he does not offer any support for those criticisms.
I'm saying that if there are people out there who know so much about a coach not being good or a club not being the right place to be, please explain us WHY!! We (women's soccer parents/volunteers/people in general) want to know where the players can get good coaching, and as far as many think...Cumberland and Adelaide City are good clubs to send their daughters to. But then you read comments like the one from Billy the Kid that 'Grossy is out of his own depth' and that because of that Cumberland is going to have a negative season and you want to know what's true and what's a personal attack. If Billy the Kid is a player or a parent who knows something important then please share it, don't just badmouth people who go out to the clubs, put their time in every week, are respected at the SAWSA level (as they have been state and sasi coaches) and (unless you can prove otherwise) have always done a good job. That's all!
What games did you all see yesterday people? Who played well? Who didn't? How did Para Hills play?? That's amazing, wasn't Olympic a strong team? I thought they had some SASI players etc. there.

Re: Round 1 results
Fulham didnt play well yesterday. Werent aggressive enough, werent physical enough and therefore got what they deserved. When u are playing a team with some of the most physical and hungry players in the comp in one team and u play the way Fulham did then ur not gonna win. Both teams had some good build up play. Fulhams defence is still a decent one. They were under attack for the majority of the game. There are a number of new players back there this season so they will take their time to gel. Fulham are traditionally slow starters. In 2006 they lost 3-0 to Adelaide City at home yet ended up winning the league quite convincingly.
Not the best way to start the season but hopefully it all goes up from here

I understand and you are correct in make comment but then back it up with why and maybe even how to improve it if it is something around the 'Officals' so to speak. Also not having read a lot of Billy the Kid I supose I can't comment too much there, then again probably enough said. No one person should attack another or a club, especially without proof etc.
Thanks for the report Gubs.

Cumberland did not out play metro yesterday ..they will know that
Metro were completely dominant ..cumberland took their ONE of 2 chances ..the other in which was straigh to me..
and im not even joking when I say they had 2 chances!
We did not take ours. End of story.
