good schwarzer

was never a penalty, great recovery

fucken carney was too casual, could've and should've tucked that easily

That chinese bloke who did that 2 footed slide tackle, should have been straight red without a doubt!! I cant believe he didnt get anything for that, worst decision.. And then the penalty against schwarzer, what a joke that ref was! Great save though :D

on reflection i wasnt too unhappy with the penalty decision. it was more a penalty than Lucas Neill's in Germany '06.

at the time i was angry but more because the the 2 footed airborne tackle that didnt even get a card let alone the straight red it deserved.

i was beginning to think conspiracy at that point.

happy enough with the draw. a win may have made us too overconfident for the 4 crucial matches in June.

Jade North was awesome. Carney was probably our weakest link throughout, i thought he was quite loose on a few occasions, but he wasn't awful either.

positive proof now Pym is a much better coach than Arnold. (was there ever any doubt...)

That two footed tacle dserved a straight red, it was a shocker.

0-0 is an excellent result away in tough conditions. The Chinese FA rescheduled the chinese league backwards to this coming weekend so that the players could properly prepare, they took the game away from the big cities to a high altitude game, and we had a lot of injuries. And we had players flying in from europe a few days earlier, whilst they were in camp for a cpl weeks.

the body language of the China coach looked pretty resignative after the game. i think he knew his job was gone.

The altitude experiment back fired badly on the Chinese.

We looked far more comfortable than they did in dealing with thin air. They were cramping all over the place and over hitting crosses all night.

What a crap game & what a pathetic referee

The Australian team out there looked crap. But they got the result they needed and thats all that matters.

i thought the Australian team played alright. they controlled the ball as well as i've seen them.

just not much punch up front, but you can forgive them as the only striker available was scythed out of the game in the first few minutes.

not really :)

Lucas Neill went to ground then Grosso initiated the contact in Kaiserslauten

this one, Schwarzer initiated contact on the player who blocked him off the ball. it was touch and go whether he got the ball at the same time or not. just the way i saw it. it could've gone either way, but i wasnt shocked when the penalty was given.

i was a little angry though because of the timing of it, a couple minutes after one of the Chinese players should have got a red card for one of the most blatant 2 footed dangerous tackles i've seen. i cant fathom that. i couldnt help but think, if it had been the other way around we would've seen a Socceroo sent off.

I think the reputation of Aussie teams precede them in Asia. That is of skill-less physical thugs, and the referees judge them accordingly. It may take years for this perception to change.

I reckon our full team would have smashed them. Maybe in the return fixture?

I cannot believe u still CANT GET OVER IT
I still cannot believe some people are still complaining it was NOT A PENALTY
For shiraz sake, I have said it many times before Neills FOOLISH lunge and tackle was a penalty, maybe not because U MAY think their was no contact, but because of the stoooopid act of slidin in the box near the touchline!

preety happy with the result an Aus took it to them chinese.
Very happy that we played ok, even though it was played in 1900m above sea level and energy sapping conditions.
We could of and should of scored 2 goals, Bresciano in the 1st half and Carney in the 2nd (lazy bastard)
Qatar beatin Iraq has done more harm than good I believe, cos now those Iraq'is will be out to win at all costs against us!

Hollman did well as the lone striker, Valeri really impressed me and even though Culina gave the ball away too easily in the last 15 mins, the guy was everywhere!

Schwarzer is just a LEGEND!

i never said it wasnt a penalty, however you seem to be very sensitive to anyone mentioning it. perhaps you need to deal with that.

just sayin' if that was given as a penalty, then last night's was no worse, so i wasnt too surprised. best to give an example everybody remembers.

Given the group results to date, the other teams are going to have to come out and attack Australia, if they hope to qualify for the next stage, which plays into our hands.
We know that Qatar offers little opposition for us which means that Iraq and China can not afford to drop any points from now on.
As long as we keep winning our home games and snatching the odd point away, we are in the box seat to reach the next round.

Team MP W D L GF GA Pts
Australia 2 1 1 0 3 0 4
Qatar 2 1 0 1 2 3 3
China PR 2 0 2 0 1 1 2
Iraq 2 0 1 1 1 3 1

What worries me is that if any team is going succumb to pressure, it's us!

How does the next stage work?

You drongo Diegom, Why should any true Aussie ever get over it.........face facts mate.

I will always hate the fact that we were cheated out of it, not by Lucas but by some misguided notion and of a EUROPEAN Referee that thought that an upstart football nation like Australia shouldn't ever be allowed to beat one of the Europes world champions, that they believe that they have some supreme right of passage, much like Uruguay thought.

In my heart as a TRUE AUSSIE we were cheated out that game. And nothing you or any other Italian/Aussie can say will ever take away that hurt!!!!

Having thrown the gunpowder onto the flames, I will now sit back and watch the sparks fly 8)

i wouldnt be so confident yet. Qatar had quite a few players out when they played us, and they will be much stronger at home regardless. These were the guys (ex Brazilians) that were the difference against Iraq.

Also Iraq were missing Akram, who is key to them.

still a way to go. next game in Brisbane, versus Iraq all the pressure will be back on the Socceroos, as Iraq will play without fear now.

pity more Chinese from China dont speak English. would've been fun to bang on about last nights match with some of them.

not good Zhu Ting
