Well I know a few clubs are struggling at the moment , and there have been some major developments out at One Tree Hill, with some senior people heading down to Playford.
Salisbury united are facing their first season with their Fed brothers having juniors so will be interesting to see if there is any major impact there.
So far the E&D have resisted the move to SSG and this seems to have caused some stirrings around the traps.
A whole junior team left with a dissatisfied coach from one Para Hills based club to another, that caused quite a stir.
Some of the people on here will howl you down for even asking about E&D, but I have feet in both camps so am happy to discuss the game from both sides.

agree there e&d has always been leading the juniors (ya hear the howls now) but with the ssg they may be making a mistake it nees to be the same everywhere.Mr DJ wrote:cheers mate, as for the howling, stuff em. i think you would be hard pushed to find a localised junior league that is bigger wouldn ya?
the only reason more e&d clubs weren't dominating in the fed system is they couldn't agree on entry, thats the reason you see clubs with both fed & e&d they don't loose the talent even if they are seperate well almost
I know of 10, 13 yr old e&d players that have gone straight into fed sides from the "A"s to the entry levels but all have been good enough.
you think the long established clubs want whole teams playing against them instead of just picking the eyes out of them.
Re: E&D
what would happen to state champs and the like if E&D went ssg?? i played in winning E&D in that, and lost in the final to them with both pt pirie and whyalla. i think EVERYONE doing it wouldn be greatest, there has to be some leeway for choice. and i suppose state champs would be the main prestige for e&D so maybe they dun wanna lose that???

Re: E&D
anyone know if all the players have gone to other clubs already? lets get the kids playing somewhere.
there's a couple of spots in the 13's at salisbury united JPL, keeper and field player could look at if interested.
Think there may be a something in the 16's as well.

Re: E&D
mate if you have something to do with united im certain you have already heard of the situation with sc u/13'sn as for the other age groups im pretty sure a few have been sent your way and the ones that haven't i hope have at least gotten into a club somewhere, sometimes in junior soccer it is easily forgotten that it isall about kids playing, developing and having fun. sad to see the club go down. i know from what i hear majority of the 13's went to salisbury east with there previous coach sorry.

Salisbury City may have been placed under more stress by the SU move to double up on juniors. I too hope the kids left out in the cold by Citys demise have found somewhere else to play their football. We were made very welcome at City last year and it is always a shame to see a club go to the wall.
Re: E&D
it is a pitty when clubs fold, the 12's they had last year were really starting to go well the coach had done a good job.povman1964 wrote:Salisbury City may have been placed under more stress by the SU move to double up on juniors. glad too see they got a game, I try not to listen to all that goes on unless its first hand with other clubs.stenman12 wrote:mate if you have something to do with united im certain you have already heard of the situation with sc u/13'sn as for the other age groups im pretty sure a few have been sent your way and the ones that haven't i hope have at least gotten into a club somewhere, sometimes in junior soccer it is easily forgotten that it isall about kids playing, developing and having fun. sad to see the club go down. i know from what i hear majority of the 13's went to salisbury east with there previous coach sorry.
If the fringe or undecided player still wants a go, let em know theres something for them to check.
agree 100% about your forgotten comments.

BIG RED wrote:I hear that the E&D voted against going under the FFSA umbrella - as there issues they believed werent addressed. (SAJSA also were part of this whole issue) 19 out of the 23 E&D clubs voted against the move to the FFSA.
And because of this I understand there is very good chance that the E&D will not be in this years state zone championships.
You would think by now the FFSA would have done its best to meet the crawford reports direction and fix the problems, but of course it is always costs etc, in 2005-06 they couldn't decide and again in 2007 for season 08 that again makes the next group of kids miss out on being included in everything.
Re: E&D
for player development which is what they (E&D) are all about, they have it right especially after seeing both systems.BIG RED wrote:There doing battle with some hard nosed old timers from out north which would be hard at times so dont be to hard on the FFSA
the FFSA have taken some good things but failed on others. more important too development is numbers with the FFSA looking more at the $$$ infront of them and not the players participating as e&d.
Re: E&D
why should being different mean they cant co-operate. i think that having choices could be a much better thing than the, this is the way it will be done approach. if, for example, FFSA goes to the SSG, and E&D doesn't, that will then leave the option there, players who just play for fun, friends, can then have a choice to which suits them, more competitive kids can play in the system as is, etc. maybe having that choice, added to GOOD COMMUNICATION, OPEN-MINDEDNESS etc, could help kids improve beyond what they could do otherwise. if ya get what i mean.
Re: E&D
I was also involved in the e&d system and can 't agree more that there are a few standouts, but one must ask why, simple is that when the players get to 12 or 13 the two systems cause pain and at times a team or clubs demise, by not allowing both structures to overlap the clubs with less developed players get left with just that.BIG RED wrote:Dont get me wrong Im part of a club within the E&D and it has done great stuff over many years.
But I see a lot of games in the E&D where a few players stand out and high number of players hardly touch the ball in a game - this can be great for a few but does it help the majority in the long run. I wonder are some players missing out because they dont have more oportunity to have more time with the ball at there feet.
The E&D is great but could it be better for larger numbers of junior players.
The FFA & the FFSA might have a stong eye on the dollars but we have to look at the big picture with some of these expenses - we cant be to fractionalised to compete against all the sporting codes in this country
the experienced boys must move to progress to the higher level and the ones left just faulter and then when they finally develop at later stages they can't get in to the other clubs and the boy's who left can't come back and play.
with most kids happy to play saturday and sunday (kids do it with aussie rules and soccer) if possible both comps could be very successful and develop at a greater rate.
simply the player with poor skills can improve but he must have a measuring stick and that is a player with higher skills.
I feel the larger number of players is a must, along with an improved training structure and advantages that the FFSA & FFA can give can only benefit the segrigated in other comps.

Re: E&D
I totally agree with new boot about players being able to cross over between fed and e&d, if there are enough places avaliable.
From the information I've seen, most clubs from 14 years old fed and e&d are short of players. As stated, the shake up at 11 & 12 is disruptive for all concerned.
IMO, grading at e&d clubs from development onwards is essential, to avoid disparity in skill levels. Trials should be held each year to maintain the correct levels of ability, which helps to avoid friendships amongst parents distorting allegiances. This would also mean that no just a few kids touch the ball during the game.
Then when kids get to 11 or so, there is less need for wholesale change. Also kids would be happy to trial for fed teams in the knowledge that if it did not work out they could amicably stay at their e&d club.
The kids that do not make it to a fed team, because they have'nt quite developed, would not be left in a dessimated team.
As I have posted before, I contacted Frances Bedford regarding this issue, who forwarded it to the Minister of Sport. That was almost a year ago, and I have heard nothing.
I say let ffa and e&d run independently, but they should not be allowed to disallow a child form playing for both associations on seperate days. Because it is all the kids, at all levels of ability, who lose out (from a football and social aspect).

Re: E&D
they used to allow it back in the late 70s early 80s. I remember playing for mod vista on saturday and wining E&D then playing for modbury on sunday and winning adelaide colts(changed to feds later)and we had 3/4 vista boys and some from other e&d clubs in the north east, worked a treat the ol dual registration..also cleaned up state champs with e&d as we were always strongest association
things happen for a reason
Re: E&D
there is one other thing that i don think has been mentioned yet. great thought it might be to play BOTH fed and e&d, especially in areas of the north that have a lower average income is... $$$$$$$$$$. there is a huge gap between paying to play E&D and paying LOTS to play fed. not to mention the extra travelling. and the gossip i have heard is that if E&D goes to ssg, then the cost per kid will go up rather substantially compared to what it is now. surely that will make it even more difficult to get new players on board.

Re: E&D
Mr dj, the cost is a big consideration. I live in the north east, have 3 boys playing, we are on the bones of our arses financially, so I know what you are saying.
Two of my sons play e&d, one plays fed. My point is, if you were prepared to go the extra mile and pay for both associations, you are not allowed to because of the bye-laws of both associations.
E&D provides excellent facilities and opportunities for youngsters, and it is relatively cheap compared to fed clubs. Fed clubs generally provide a higher standard of coaching, which you have to pay for. As with everything in life, there is no free lunch. But neither association adequately address the problem of effective development for all.
In my opinion, small sided games would not be needed if grading was effective from an early age. If 22 young players from the age of 9 or 10, were of similar abilities and attitudes, I am convinced that every player would play his part in a game, and develop more rapidly than in small sided games.

Re: E&D
last year e&d had to pay the $10 per player for FFA and yes the feds do charge more and the reason is "they say" they do a better job! but who measures it! answer no one.Mr DJ wrote:there is one other thing that i don think has been mentioned yet. great thought it might be to play BOTH fed and e&d, especially in areas of the north that have a lower average income is... $$$$$$$$$$. there is a huge gap between paying to play E&D and paying LOTS to play fed. not to mention the extra travelling. and the gossip i have heard is that if E&D goes to ssg, then the cost per kid will go up rather substantially compared to what it is now. surely that will make it even more difficult to get new players on board.
now if you have a simple process by allowing the duel club process you automatically have a measurement, this will be determined through player quality and club success.
now I havn't looked at the ssg so I maybe wrong but if the ffa and the inceptiontion of this, then all clubs should be given equipment for each team registered.
Clubs are the ones who choose what fees are taken to pay for the fed system, sure there is insurance, ref fees, team reg, and finally strips, that a player must contribute too but with alot of fed clubs they use fees to prop the seniors and or the facilities.
you may ask how this can be; to start with e&d junior clubs have a no grog policy and restricted areas for smoking etc. they also look at distance that teams travel which fed is now trying to do better this year for younger ages.
the pathways required to develop good players and strong clubs is the problem as not all clubs have seniors, this where the duel reg can help and which will let baan have as he says players doing more on the ball and not less.

Harry agree there is no difference in playing both but the coaching is miles apart, I have seen first hand how some fed and e&d coaches go, and to most at bottom end they are just starting to learn or have put the or hand up with the best intention by all.
now e&d use the ffsa to train all the coaches above the O level they do in house, so how can the fed system be better?
A coach should be measured on what he develops, but who is doing this? no one!! but when the coach learns enough they try the next level so the fed system wins by default.

Re: E&D
Cricket in some areas of Adelaide allows for dual registration, and in my eyes it is a doble edged sword. Yes the "elite" players get to play more but they dominate the game to such a level that the "less skilled" players give up and leave. It is my opinion that the same thing would happen in football if they allowed players to register for both levels, there needs to be a feeder structure that directs the better talent upwards to where they can receive better coaching.
