at least archie is playing every week as opposed to young patafta . not saying he wont be a great player

i'd play mostly A-league players as most of those Euro based players are going to be suffering jet lag. unless they can get them to sleep Euro hours when they get here.

cohesion is going to be difficult because this group hasnt played or trained together much. Qatar have just played a stack of friendlies with their squad.

its going to be tough.

for once Alek I agree with you, 2-0 would be a fair result but wouldn't be surprised if we knocked in more.

No A league player will get a run unless we are 5-0 up with 15 minutes to play then he MIGHT give a couple of them a run.

that would be the safest approach to this game

Dont know about everyone else, but Qatar's preparation has been far superior to that of ours, so I have some hesitation that this will be an easy win. Squad has been together for some time, they have played some tough friendlies recently (both 0-0 draws against respected Asian opposition from memory) and they are already here to aclimatise to our conditions etc etc. I would be happy with 3 points, regardless of score.

most of the euro boys aren't getting in aus until monday, some on tuesday, so i don't think it'll be as heavily dominated by euro players as people think

how true didn't the media say we would dominate the AC and the players read that and we failed there.

Preparation for this game will be no different than the other qualifying games. ie: difficult and disjointed.

IMO a loss tonight = no qualifying for WC 2010. If we can't beat Qatar at home with nearly a full squad, we have no hope.

My prediction, however, is Us 3, Them 0

I think 1-0 win.....anyone know where the ref's from? Hope he doesnt fall for the old "rolling around, Im hurt" time wasting tactics some of our Asian neighbours have been guilty of in the past.

The odds:

Aus: $1.33
Draw: $4.50
Qatar: $8.50

I think the bookies are underestimating Qatar a little here, i hope the aussies don't!

Good luck boys...

We will win and they won't score, the scoreline doesn't bother me, would love to win every qualifying match 1 nil and go through.

Don't give a rats if its pretty to watch either, just bloody win!!!

I suspect they will camp behind the ball and try to hit us on the break, just keep cool and wait for an opportunity. THEN hammer them.

Yeah, I caught it too.
I was in the bog fidling with the radio in the hope that some station may be giving score-updates and stumbled on it.

Thank God for Aunty.
