Aussie playing for Juventus
Did not realise but there is an Australian in the first team squad at Juventus - a goalkeeper.
Jess Vanstrattan
Squad Number: 13
Jess Vanstrattan was born on the 19th of July 1982 in Gasford, Australia. Both his parents are named Kim: his mum works as an interior decorator, while his dad is a fireman. Jess has a sister, Brie, a businesswoman, and a brother, Beau, who works as a carpenter. He's currently single.
When he's not playing or training, Jess chooses to relax much in the same way as most people his age: with music, movies, and sport. He listens to all musical genres, from rock to pop, including dance music. He can't name his favourite singer or one particular song: he really does listen to all kinds of stuff.
He's a huge movie enthusiast. He loves all the biggest international actors: Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Morgan Freeman. His favourite film is Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption, featuring the abovementioned Freeman.
He adores going out with friends and has begun discovering restaurants, bars and clubs in Turin’s centre.
When he arrived in Italy in 2001, he fell in love with Mediterranean cuisine. He loves Italian food, but his favourite dish of all is churasco, a traditional Brazilian grilled meat dish. He doesn't drink wine or alcohol, he always drinks water exclusively.
His clothes reflect his love of surfing, which is his favourite sport. He almost always chooses to dress casual and sporty, but he's aware that in certain situations dressing elegantly is a necessity. He is crazy about trainers. Whenever he can, he adds a new pair to his already vast collection.
He's a true sport enthusiast: surfing – a sport he began at 6 years of age but which he has had to curtail now due to his profession – Motorbike racing, which he watches avidly on TV, and rugby. His favourite sports personality is undoubtedly Valentino Rossi.
His football career began when he was 7 years old in Terrigal's youth sector. He started out pretty much by chance: some friends of his had been playing football for a while and they invited him to try - and the rest is history.
He played up front at the beginning and as he grew up he was gradually moved backwards, until he was put in goal. Destiny had a decisive role in this: indeed since he was a child his favourite footballer had been Mark Bosnich, the Australian keeper, a legend down under, who has played among others for Manchester United and Aston Villa, the team that Jess supports.
His happiest football memory is his National team debut, whilst his dreams are to keep playing for a prestigious club, to keep winning and to be able to play in the World Cup one day.

Thanks for that admin, im surprised Baggio didnt know more about this, shame on you Baggio
Seriously though, always good to see Aussie boys plying their trade in Europe and even better to see that some can actually gain contracts with teams like Juve in Leagues like the Serie A. That is fantastic for our future WC aspirations, and stories like these can only enhance the game back here at home. Good luck to the lad, hope he does well.
Australia is already well known for its production of good goalkeepers and this just highlights this fact, Bravo

He was at Verona for 6 years for only 8 serie B appearances, then to Ancona I believe while still contracted to Verona. His contract was terminated after he told the club he wanted to return to Australian, then Juve came knocking when he was back home, Verona heard he'd signed and took it to court, it was settled and he became the first ever Aussie at Juve, now he just needs to get a game. Not likely with Buffon in great form and the Copa Italia being taken serious again.
