SETANTA
My old man just rang me to tell me he had Setanta. He subscribed to them at 9am this morning and they said, he would have it up and running in 24hrs. So he has it on now, I think ch.525 on Foxtel.
He said that Celtic TV was on soon and was rubbing it in that he was able to watch it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I have cable so im waiting for Setanta and Foxtel to sort out their s h it so I can get it on.
Did anyone else get it on today ?

Any amount of Tommy Smyth is too much. Out of curiosity, is it possible to get Sentana outside of foxtel?Berbatov wrote:Ye but iv'e had enough of tommy smith, plus Setanta is 24/7 Footballozzie owl wrote:Not going to bother enough good football on foxsports and ESPN.

Re: Setanta
You can get Setanta by installing a separate dish and smartcard specifically for Setanta.Bodø Glimt wrote:Any amount of Tommy Smyth is too much. Some interesting reading.
Using a smart card and a decoder does it output on a analogue or digital channel. Can I set it up so my pvr will record (as like a normal digital channel) or is the only way I can see through red/white/yellow cables to the tv?
Will there be any broadcasts of Asian World Cup qualifiers, ie. games that Australia aren't involved in?

I'd be pretty keen to see some decent football on tv whether it's from France, the Netherlands or elsewhere. I noticed they've got Portugal v Poland coming up and things like that would be good to see. There's only so much of David Basheer's commentary one could tolerate (actually I don't tolerate any of it).
There's some hurling in their schedule too.
I'd rather pay $15ºº/month for one channel with some decent football rather than foxtel's $40°°+ for heaps of channels I don't need.
Selling the idea to the other half is going to be the sticking point, but if there are Asian WC qualifiers it shouldn't be too difficult.
Does anyone who who does the instillation, and if so where they have a shop (?) where I can talk to a person one on one

The only extra cost is just installation of the equipment.
Theres a shop on Grand Junction Rd. about 1km down from South Rd. towards Port Adel. on the left hand side. Its in a small group of shops and you cant miss it , as it has plenty of satellites on the shop roof.Bodø Glimt wrote:I'd be pretty keen to see some decent football on tv whether it's from France, the Netherlands or elsewhere. The guy in there says that it costs $500.00 installed for a dish and decoder box. Then you subscribe to Setanta.
Hope this helps Bodo.
My old boy taped Celtic TV for me and I have just watched it. It was great, all the up to date news and results of the 1st.team and youth teams. They showed the opening of Celtics new training complex at "Lennoxtown". Its that sort of news and pictures that you dont see or hear about and now I can with Celtic TV on Setanta, effin brilliant.
Cant wait till they get it for cable viewers.

Thanks. How does the decoder box work? Does it plug into the tv via red/yellow/white cables? Or more correctly I want to know if can be transmitted as a digital channel. I have a digital pvr and if I can record through that it would be great. I know some pvr's have decoders built into them and all you need is a smart card provided by your subscriber.yogi wrote:Theres a shop on Grand Junction Rd. about 1km down from South Rd. towards Port Adel. on the left hand side. This is why I wanted to know a shop because it's easier to discuss these things with someone who has stuff in front of you he/she can show you. Busy for the rest of the week but shall look into it next week.

Even if you were to get equipment elsewhere, AAACom will provide you with the Setanta Smartcard and tech support after.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll certainly look into it.
Yogi, do you know if that shop is open on saturday?
Sentanta, I want to look at equipment first because I want to know how I can record whilst I am at work or in bed. My biggest beef with foxtel ten years ago was having to set two timers (one for the video and one for the foxtel decoder) to record something.
I have seen sattelite capable pvrs on the internet before and if I am wondering if I can find a set up compatible with mine.

have been following the different threads about SETANTA and wondered what all the fuss was about. Just went into their web-site and saw their programming......bloody hell sensational stuff.
some good stuff on there thats for sure. Would love to see the Man U and Chelsea TV programs, do they show you any training sessions?
