Calls for women's A-League
There have been calls for a national women's soccer league to be set up after the success of the Matildas at the World Cup.
Australia reached the quarter-finals of the competition in China before going down to Brazil.
The Women's National Soccer League ended in 2004 and since then there have only been state-wide competitions.
Matildas coach Tom Sermanni says a national league would be good for the future of the sport.
"It's not necessary just based around the national team, because as a national team we get a huge amount of international exposure now," he said.
"What it does is improve the standard under the national team and give off more opportunities to players, and helps keep the profile of the game high within Australia."
The first semi-final at the World Cup tonight sees Germany play Norway.

make womens teams to equalize the mens teams and then have the women play before all the a-league games...
so if its United vs newcastle
then it will be Sensation vs Newcastle..
i think it happened a few years ago...

nah just have it as a separate comp altogether. our season is normally only 10 weeks long so following the men for half the season isnt really worth it.
if we are separate from the men then the girls wont have to put up with bullcrap comments like "i dont wanna watch the women" and "is this where my adelaide united membership is going" and "women should be in the kitchen". if we are separate then the supporters that are at that game are supporters of womens soccer

ITS DISGRACEFUL that we do not have a fully fledged National Women's League
Sermani has reitearted this and has probably known about since his tenure as the Senior Coach but still we wait. And wait. And wait.
What is needed is a proper WNSL and not a poor subsitute! 4 years ahgo it looked like the WNSL was going to go places when it played as curtain raisers for Adelaide United.
There is money. There are people who can run so lets get cracking!

Its a Beautiful Things
Adelaide Sensation used to play before Adealide United. Then we were told that they didnt want us playing before them anymore so we branched off on our own. We had a summer comp which was held at Marden and was totally separate from the boys. Then they made the comp a 10 day camp in Canberra where all the teams played there.
That was 2005, since then there has been nothing
There is no point trying to set up a curtain raiser thingy bcoz Adelaide United officials dont want it happening. simple
The only answer is to get a league which is just for the women up and running which has nothing to do with the mens team. coz thats the only way something will happen for the national league teams

totally agree.
I will still go watch both leagues provided they do not play at the same time. It will be difficult but maybe the ffa and womens league can work together so that when United plays away the sensation play home???

they were funding us. they then pulled out their money and said that we werent permitted to play before them. we were never really given reasons why. im guessing coz AU control what happens at the stadium on match day they can control who plays there n who doesnt
tbh im really not sure. all i know is that the AU officials didnt want us there anymore

FFA i think control the pre-game stuff now... not the individual clubs...gubs wrote:they were funding us. they then pulled out their money and said that we werent permitted to play before them. we were never really given reasons why. im guessing coz AU control what happens at the stadium on match day they can control who plays there n who doesnt

I think what Gubs said is spot on the amount if abuse the women would get if they played b4 a mens game... it would b prtty feral if u ask me..! it would make u not want to play there if u new that no 1 wanted u there. I think if the women had a seperate league it would b a gd oppurtunuity for the selectors to go and have a look at all the teams....!

A women's national comp would be a huge thing to organise but I think it would be so worth it. It should definately be a priority over strating a reserve men's comp. Who wants to just see more of the same?!
Women's soccer is a different style of soccer and more and more people are appriciating that.
It's up to FFA to make it a priority and they should start looking at it now.

i agree.. we need to prioratise the womens league right now bcoz its FINALLY kicking off again! i dont much care for the mens reserves or the youth leagues or woteva thats not really relevant now n besides the men already have the A LEAGUE stop complaining its bout time the women got sum recognition.. afta their success in the world cup they deserve their own league

Great idea. Loved it when they played before Ad Ut games. People loved it and began to appreciate it (as Soccer4life said).
If it does happen again, it will (unfortunately) be the Sensations. Same players. Officials, etc.
lets make a difference and SAWSA put together a team that is INDPEPENDENT and has fresh new eager faces.
For the detractors out there.......Let me DREAM! Shite is that a pig flying by!

That's a disgraceful, insulting and ill informed attitude to take. Who goes or stays in sasi is one persons frickin opinion Krazy!
They will never allow a non-sasi team play a sasi team during the season because they don't want an unfavorable result! Bit like losing to Playford, Pt Pirie, Seaford and getting thumped by Blue eagles, City and Cumberland! Not bad for an elite team who plays in the under 16's!
Pick your words carefully in future and don't disrepsect those who play the game and make up the teams you play in and against. Without them there is no game.

Fire up why dont you!
its true tho ..atm the moment the best in the state are currently in sasi ..if they werent the best why would they be there ..
Im not disrespecting anyone ..so you just get angry and bitter and keep going!
"Playford, Pt Pirie, Seaford and getting thumped by Blue eagles, City and Cumberland!"
When did we lose to seaford?
Seaford 1:10 S.A.S.I. GIRLS
S.A.S.I. GIRLS 4:0 Seaford
Adelaide City 2:0 S.A.S.I. GIRLS - thumping was it?
wow they beat us once - S.A.S.I. GIRLS 2:2 Playford
another interesting result - Campbelltown 3:2 S.A.S.I. GIRLS
whats this? Blue Eagles 2:1 S.A.S.I. GIRLS
There were a few comprehensive losses during the season - however these come with reasonable answers considering at one stage almost the whole defensive line was injured, people in and out of aussie camps for most of the year, players coming in and out of the program!
I think your attitude towards those currently in sasi is somewhat - "disgraceful, insulting and ill informed"

I think you would find that yes the head coach has the final say but at trials there are 5 or 6 coaches who have their input who they think should be in the squad.
