Arnold ... 'not a do-or-die game'.

Arnold fends off criticism

July 12, 2007

UNDER-fire Australia coach Graham Arnold has fended off criticism of the Socceroos' inglorious performance in their opening 1-1 draw against Oman, saying 'who cares?'.

Arnold said before the tournament that Australia would have failed if they did not to reach the Asian Cup final in Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 29.

But he and his players were panned across Australia after the draw with Oman in Bangkok.

Television commentator and former Socceroos player Craig Foster said the team lacked discipline under Arnold, , while former Australia coach Rale Rasic said that Arnold was not strict enough with his players.

Arnold was terse in his responses when asked about the pressure he was under to get a result.

Asked about mounting criticism of him in Australia, he snapped: "I haven't read anything back at home. I'm here in Bangkok. Who cares?

"There is a lot of pressure on all the coaches, but I have a three-year contract, so that's nice.

"It's not a do-or-die game for me. It's not about me. It's about the team. Every game is important. We still have another game after this one against Thailand.

"We can still control what we can do, and we're concerned about ourselves and we want the power in our hands to get the right results."

who cares? how bout the supporter you cunt. fuck off. I dont blame him i blame the FFA for leaving him in charge, its ridiculous. no man with the name Graham can coach the national team. just face it Aussies dont have the skill to do it, its not in our culture.

He prob could of eventually gotten there, the guy has jumped the gun however and prob ruined any chance he would of gotten in the future. if he just new his place for another 8 years he would of probably learnt some stuff and then made a decent attempt at being a coach.

he has had heaps of chances and has showed not leadership ability. If we get throught the group stages it would be because of individual players, not graham Arnolds ability to lead a team.

"who cares" he said. Well I can tell you right now that none of the players seem to care based on their performances.

It's not a matter of the players not caring, I don't believe that for a minute!
We're talking about professionals here and if you knew any of them or new someone that played at this level you would realise that these sorts of players don't like loosing PERIOD!
The buck stops with Arnold and clearly he is out of his league and has no respect with the players or supporters!
No balance in this side and the wrong time to blood new players for future Socceroo sides!
Put the best team on the park, that's the first rule IMO especially at this level!
Aloisi, Cahill on the bench is a no brainer!
Even Austalia B beat His first string side, there's a sign that the balance is'nt right
