re; cup draw
typical poor organising by sawsa ,
reserves cup played on 15th july, under age state teams away from july 8th to 15th july, return sunday afternoon I believe. many of these state girls would be playing in these res cup games , teams with many state players and the girls who I am sure would want to play in the cup quarter finals for their clubs are disadvantaged. (thats the thanks they get for playing/representing their state)
Surely sawsa who organise the state teams etc know when the girls go away , look at the dates and players and program games for fairness and not to disadvantage teams who support the development squads and state teams by providing the majority of the players. Even if the state girls did get back by sunday 15th, after playing 5/6 games in a week what sort of condition would they be in to play another game.
Its about time the programmers started to think about whats going on around them.(reflect back to last years Cup Finals , played on AFL grand final day, brilliant programming,)no other sports/races included play or take place on AFL grand final day.

i rekon they should go back to how they used to do the cup finals... have the under 17's 4pm then reserves/div 1 at 6pm then prems play at 8pm
and play it on the friday night then play the other cups on the following day or something... coz it was awesome u usually won (well we did!!) then u went back to the club and partied. having it on a sunday is hard coz usually ur working the next day so cant always have a big one... i dunno i just thort that was a beta set up...

re; womens cup final
I think you better all check last years program, and get your facts straight before refering to others. I think you will find the womens u17, res and prem cup final was played on the saturday (AFL grand final day ) was also a long weekend. I remember as many of the u17 girls then played in the junior zone competition on the sunday/monday at Para Hills.
Billshankley could certainly verify this as he was the winning coach of the U14 western zone team.
As I said great programming.

re cup final
sorry folks u13,u15,u17 cup finals on AFL grand final day, I assummed all final were held on the same day . One after the other but apparently the res and prem played the week before.
Still not appropriate as many of the junior girls then had to front up and play in the junior zone champ on the Sunday/monday after playing in the cup finals on the saturday.

That was due to the availability of Hindmarsh Stadium due to Adelaide United... SAWSA wanted to give the Juniors the opportunity to play at Hindmarsh just like everyone else, and had to fit in around other users schedules... It was unfortunate, not poor programming... Women's soccer is still the poorer cousin and we got what we were given... So unless the juniors want to play their cup at Marden or somewhere other than Hindmarsh there's not much you can do...Lil-Lilly wrote:The U17's 15's and 13's did play the cup final on the day of the AFL grandfinal though........
And while I sympathise with the whole state team players being away... There are quite a lot of clubs who at this Quarter Final/Semi Final stage of the cup are coming up to their second week of no games at all... Not ideal for them either...
What is your solution, program league games the week after state?? Those girls will still miss a game either way... Are you saying the Cup is more important than the league...?? Are you saying we should have 2 or 3 weeks were there are no games scheduled??? If it's poor programming tell us all what you would do differently.
