Manchester United Stun Europe With Nani, Anderson Capture
Jaws will be dropping all over Europe as the Red Devils seal the signing, not only of Nani from Sporting Lisbon, but also Porto's young midfield starlet Anderson, who was being followed by Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Milan.
United chief executive David Gill and assistant coach Carlos Queiroz had flown to Portugal this morning, and it is now clear that they had a double swoop on their minds.
Nani will give them options on the flanks, and serve largely as an under-study to Giggs, and Anderson should to hand them an attacking central midfield option.
Revealed the club in a statement: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms in principle with Sporting Lisbon for the purchase of the registration of Nani.
"Personal terms have been agreed and a formal announcement will take place once the necessary administrative procedures, including a medical have been completed.

This comes on the back of the signing of Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich, which is also all but official. The Red Devil seems to be making the biggest strides in the transfer market at the moment.

This morning on Eurosport they said each player would cost around 25 Million Euro's each!!!manU4life Posted: 31 May 2007 06:43 Post subject:

this is amazing!!just got a wood....seen anderson in the amsterdam tournament last year and he is something special. both would have cost a bit!
QUality future signings... Nani will be a superstar, Anderson, I think he maybe too lightweight from the EPL, his style suits La Liga and 25m euros for him is a bit much... but only time will tell. 17m pounds on Hargreave and a further 30-35m pounds on these two youngsters... thats already 50m pounds spent.Caramelas13 wrote:This morning on Eurosport they said each player would cost around 25 Million Euro's each!!!manU4life Posted: 31 May 2007 06:43 Post subject:

Man Utd's amazing Portuguese raid to cost £34M
Manchester United's amazing double signing of Portugal-based stars Anderson and Nani is expected to cost a combined £34 million.
Portuguese media reports say terms have been agreed with Porto for Anderson and Sporting Lisbon for Nani for fees of £17 million each.
Anderson was voted Player of the U17 World Cup in 2005 ahead of Barcelona starlet Giovani dos Santos and has been named in Dunga's preliminary Brazil squad for this summer's Copa America.
Nani, 20, is regarded as the biggest talent to emerge from Sporting since United star Cristiano Ronaldo and made it no secret he wanted a move to Old Trafford after refusing to sign a bumper new contract offered by his Portuguese club this year.
Their arrivals should certainly help Ronaldo feel at ease, particularly if the winger's friend Gabriel Heinze is sold this summer as expected.

Suppose they wouldnt announce it if they couldnt do it.
By the letter of the law, 'what benefit does he bring to the UK'. At the moment he's just a kid with bucketloads of potential, uncapped by the NT.
If he does get a conditional permit, ManUSA have to play him in 85% of matches, correct??
If he's not ready yet for premiership football, they oculd be shooting themselves in the foot.

Has Man U become the NEW Chelsea in the money market?
Will this be the start of a new push by the TOP clubs in the EPL to secure the best talent going around???

you obviously havent seen him play, he will play a pivotal role in the first team next year...none of this royal antwerp shite. i dont see any reason why he cant have an impact in the EPL...arteta and benayoun are attacking players who some doubted would make a difference and they have and anderson arguably has more talent in his left toe then both togther. As for the work permit thing, shouldnt be a problem as he'll be capped the next available chanceThe Kop wrote:Suppose they wouldnt announce it if they couldnt do it.

Criteria for WP approval....
Anderson is uncapped.........
Review procedure...
If Anderson gets a WP it seriously is a joke of a system. How can an uncapped player be 1) of the highest calibre and 2) contribute significatly to the development of the game in the UK.
ps we know he has loads potential, but theres a gap to bridge between potential and ability.
Criteria
A player must have played for his country in at least 75% of its competitive 'A' team matches he was available for selection, during the two years preceding the date of the application; and,
The player's country must be at or above 70th place in the official FIFA world rankings when averaged over the two years preceding the date of the application.
Anderson is uncapped.........
Review procedure...
Reviews
Where an application has been refused on the grounds that it does not meet the published criteria, a club may seek a review against the decision. A club will have 28 days to inform Work Permits (UK) that it wishes to seek such a review. If a review is sought within this time limit, Work Permits (UK) will refer the club's evidence to an independent review panel.
The review panel will normally consist of representatives from the relevant football governing bodies together with up to three independent experts. The panel's terms of reference are to consider whether the player is of the highest calibre and able to contribute significantly to the development of the game at the top level in UK. The panel will make a recommendation to the Head of Work Permits (UK) whose decision will then be relayed to the club. Ministers will be informed of the result.
Clubs should note that, in respect of any application, there will only be available one review (i.e. a panel hearing and recommendation, followed by a decision). A club should therefore ensure that all evidence that it wishes to present in support of its application is presented at the review.
If the club has previously made an application that was unsuccessful at review a further review cannot be made for the same player during the season. For these purposes a season is deemed to run from 01 June until 31 May.

secondly, well done to Riomma for winning the coppa italia!
lastly, Riomma are scum and I hope the curva sud burns down.... any manager who bows down to another manager no matter how hard the beating is a biatch, but then again that suits Riommas style.
Hey Roma > there aren't too many that haven't lived up to expectation, if you take out Ballack, Scheva..........but it was only their first year we shall see if they were worth the money
