Hargreaves joining Man Utd, says Beckenbauer
England midfielder Owen Hargreaves is leaving Bayern Munich, club president Franz Beckenbauer has told German TV.
Beckenbauer, speaking on the DFB-Doppelpass programme, confirmed Hargreaves was quitting the club following media reports that the 26-year-old would depart for 25 million euros (£17million) and sign a four-year contract with Manchester United.
'Owen Hargreaves will go,' Beckenbauer told the programme. 'It's also the wish of the player.'
Beckenbauer told the programme that the deal was a good financial one for Bayern.

Hargreaves Deal Done, Says Report
Manchester United's lengthy efforts to sign Owen Hargreaves have finally paid off, according to reports in Germany.
The Premiership champions, who today lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea, have been chasing the Canadian-born midfielder for over 12 months, but have been unable to reach an agreement with Bayern Munich over the fee.
However, it now seems that Bayern, who today concluded their League season with a 5-2 win over Energie Cottbus, have agreed to sell Hargreaves, who missed the match due to injury.
The fee for the England international, who will sign a four year deal, is said to be worth £17m (25 million euros) which would be a club record.
Hargreaves has been with Bayern for the best part of a decade following moving from Canada and the versatile player has made almost 150 league appearances.

but i think carrick is vastly improving...
he is better than hargraves in my books... but thats just me, Carrick has adapted to the united squad so well over the past few months..
Sidwell would be a good signing, him and haregraves would be superb cover and long term succsesors to scholes...
Sidwell is also a target of chelsea and 'pool though i hear..

with the amount of games we play we need the cover and yes you might say its a shame that he could only find himself a squad player for a year but scholes doesnt have to many years left in his lefts and then you'll see ronaldo carrick hargreaves and nani in the midfieldgetborn wrote:after what you paid and the fantastic season he had such a shame really.manU4life wrote:he's ahead of carrick for england so i dare say he'll be ahead of him at united and plus we need a long term replacement for scholes as well. with the amount of games we play we need as much cover as we can get...there is talk of sidwell signing aswellForza Roma wrote:i actually think this is a pretty average signing...

I read that seeing as Nani has been put up for a ridiculous price, that the mancs will concentrate on Lennon from Spurs as they cant get Berbatov, you love raiding the yids!!!
Also on F365 is that Maureen has been given an extra year in charge of Chelski, but no money!!! hahahaha I believe it when it happens, but apprently hes not allowed to sign McCarthy for 8m pounds and may only purchase Alex and Sidwell on the free...

About time, I believe this fella was the difference between Man U winning the trebble and doing what they did this season. Well done Man U. F##kn Muni wouldnt let him go, to spite them. Everybody must realise its liverpool that is the enemy from england not Man U.

carrick is overated but Hargraves is not. Getting carrick was a waste of money but every big club wastes money no matter what. Hargraves was a great pick up. The germans played hardball but finally united got their way. Owen would not be a midfielder, he never has been. He will be an out and out striker. If liverpool want him I am sure he will head to anfield, good luck to them, after all he is one of theirs as Rooney is one of ours

thats the pot calling the kettle black, how about you look in your own back yard before peering over the fenceMadrista wrote:This player is not very good at all. not to worry, madrid remain the most expensive overated team in the world.Madrista wrote:This player is not very good at all.
