two things...

1/ can confirm he has resigned, he does play so there is that and his work.

2/ can someone clarify what you mean by flooding? if you mean getting players behind the ball to defend then that is what all major teams around the world do. just watch it on telly. milan will do it against liverpool in the champions league.

By "flooding" they mean.. cumby have a tendency to line up all their players on their own goal line, they pretty much set up a barrier!

flooding im one of the main ppl who go on about cumby and their flooding and by that i mean... they arent a skillful team (in saying that i dont mean they dont hvae good players) - so basically it would be easier to get all 11 players behind the ball and flood.. at the end of the day flooding wins i guess, coz cumby have always been in the top teams group...
i dont mean they suck i dont mean that at all im just yeah saying - and imnot the only one who thinks this alot of other clubs think it as well..

good luck to cumby for finding anutha coach.. IL COACH (seriously)

quick question then...

if they aren't a skillfull side then why was majority of last years total state playing group from cumberland?

of the 32 that travelled to coffs harbour at least 10 of them were from cumberland, and then there was 8 in the 16 girl squad for the Kanga Cup.

you could say it was because 2 of the coaches were from cumberland, but this year there are more players from cumberland in the state teams and there's only one coach there affiliated with them.

they had 2 players in the all-star team and the player of the year for the last 3 years. they won the cup 3-2 (not a very defensive score line).

just found it funny that you view getting players behind the ball a tactic of an unskillfull side.

maybe SASI, who say that the goals they concede come from being out done by the pace and strength of the boys, should look at denying space behind the defence with players behind the ball. this way pace isn't an asset as there is no room to use it.

or maybe look at the fact that cumberland are very good at playing the ball out from the back and very rarely if ever play a long ball over the top (adelaide city big user of that tactic). when you can win possesion in your own half and then keep it till you're up the other end of the pitch there must be a little skill and technique in there.

would love for you to start coaching shorty, you'll notice that you'll see the game differently and may improve your own game as you'll read what's happening on the pitch quicker and analyse situations differently.

is it because they have alot of young players? what players are they up against.. and from what teams?

who were the coaches on the selection panel

don't know who was on the coaching panel.

they do have a lot of young players, as they did last year. they've basically replaced a whole senior side with last years reserves and under 17's.

bob - the state coaching for the last few years whether it be u/18 u/16 or u/14 : a cumberland coach is always part of it... and im not saying favortism is the fact as to why they get chosen but c'mon...

yes they have a lot of good up and coming players coming thru the ranks and good luck to them,..

as for city - i wouldnt say they play long balls over the top they tend to play more to feet to lia. also i think u wld find it wouldnt be long balls over the top it would be long "shots" slater has a awesome shoton her as does scalzi...

i didnt say cumberland were just a defensive side i said they flooded seems as tho ur the only defensive person bob...
also the cup game last year - score lines dont always outline the game, and the score of that game definately didnt outline that game.
alot of cumbys games and scorelines dont outline the game every time fulham play them and metro and any team for that matter i wouldnt say the score outlined the game..

sorry mate i do coach - whether or not i coach under 11's or a premier league u do see things differently and imnot just hvaing a go at cumberland coz i have respect for them and their players - and im not just voicing my opinion coz i think u guys r sh1t coz far the case im just saying you guys flood - also - u said u didnt know that getting players behind the ball was unskillful : ur right its not unskillful, but its not a good tactic when u only play for a "counter attack".. also im talking from previous years when swaf was playing as i havent played cumby yet..

Well in Shorty totally agree......

plus I have heaps of admiration for a player who sticks up their hand to coach 2 under 11 teams while still playing.

Would prob be the same as coaching a prem team with out the attitude dont ya think.......

sorry forgot about ur sasi point...

this aint about sasi but seen as u brought it up : just coz sasi are being beaten to the ball thru pace, doesnt mean that kev should just say "okay girls we're getting beat to the long balls over the top etc, so i dont want anyone in our half i purely just want u to stack the defence coz stacking the defence means they wont get past us..." thats not how it works... everyone has weakness' and sasi's weakness is pace, (which a girls team playing boys is always going to happen unless you have a team of marion jones'...)

when i was playing for sasi - we never tried to get fast, we didnt do sprint training day n night for 365 days - we did the 'simple' things perfect, and kept the hard things 'simple'. if we beat the boys in the air, our control was spot on, we play to feet, we communicated then tbh it doesnt matter if ur not quick enuf.. coz at the end of the day being fast doesnt win u games...

if u watch a sasi game bob 98% of the game u wont get a long ball, the boys arent smart enuf to think - "sh1t gianna is up at half way along with stacey day, kirralea and chi il pop the ball over and we'll score..." no they dont think like that they kick and run.......

C'mon peoples. This has gone from a coach quitting. to State Team selections. To Cumby flooding. To SASI to Shorty's under 11's and her coaching creds.

Everyone has presented an excellent argument

to quote the great Terry Wallace (when Bulldogs coach). When he was questioned about the team's tactics, he replied that as his team was not full of superstars he had to develop a game plan that could get a result from what cattle he had to work with. If Cumby flood, then it may be many reasons thus the coach has developed a tactic to deal with it. So have City. And Fulham and so on.

SASI and continually getting beaten by every under 16 side because of pace and physical strength is a similar issue. The coach needs to develop a game plan that complements his side's ability. Isn't that the coach's role?

I heard on the grapevine that a coach from an opposing boy's side admired the SASI girls individual skills but as a team.........It wasn't happening.

Speed training. why the HELL AREN'T THEY DOING IT?????? If this is a weakness then FIX IT Bob! SIMPLE MATE!

seriously speed training wont make the girls faster it will get them the right technique but at the end of the day if ur not born a sprinter u cant be made into a sprinter..

when i was in sasi, we never got knocked off the ball - physical was never a weakness because c'mon we did/do gym more than ballwork lol..
i know times have changed and its a much younger squad but yeah i find it hard to believe they are getting knocked off the ball...
yeha kev could improve im sure everyone thinks that even himself but sit in one of his half time talks and 97% of what he says is ligit and yes he duz have a game plan...
