Reports that Genoa are interested in signing Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka are gathering pace.
The Australian international has been linked with a move to the Serie B promotion hopefuls given that he may be available on a Bosman free transfer in the summer.
Although he is in negotiations with Boro over a new deal, whispers suggest that Genoa have offered Viduka a three-year agreement worth £8m.
“Mark has had a very good offer from Italy, but we are still talking to Boro and we expect a decision in the next couple of weeks,†said the player’s agent Steve Kutner.
Viduka offered an impressive performance over the weekend, scoring a brace against Watford, and the English club’s fans are hoping that he will sign a new deal shortly.
“Talks are ongoing and Mark is having a think about things,†said Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate.
“I am very relaxed about it. He knows my position on it and I respect the fact that he wants time to think about the situation.â€

Viduka should not go to Genoa unless they are in the Serie A, and he is the first of many signings. They will not last in Serie A unless they improve their squad.
