As GIAE said they or any other club joining the competition should be starting in the bottom division.

Should being the word however we all know that the amtuer league has the power to do what it deems best for its competition.
In this, dependent on the number of Federation teams that move to the SAASL will determine both the league structure (number of teams per league) and what division they are eneterd into.
There is no way that a federation team will be entered into Division 4 in my opinion.

Didn't Western Strikers start at the bottom?

Western Strikers still have a team under the FFSA, the mentioned clubs to possibly move will not so for me thats like comparing apples with oranges.

Still a new team entering at the bottom.

I agree however my main point was that the SAASL will make a decision that they deem appropriate as they have the powers to do so . As such I don't think that IF a team moves over from the FFSA that they will start the in Division 4.
Forget the rights and wrongs of it as I agree that they SHOULD start in Division 4.

We've all seen Lion dictate what division they would like to play so anything is possible.

I still believe any new club should start at the bottom whether they have come from federation or a new club/side.Gabon wrote:Western Strikers still have a team under the FFSA, the mentioned clubs to possibly move will not so for me thats like comparing apples with oranges.
It's a kick in the teeth to all the other clubs if they are given any preferrential treatment because they are deemed to have been at a higher level.
That said, I know my old league in England would judge a team's new division by the players at the club.

Didn't Lion technically merge with another team to get that spot or was that Pirie?

And what about a year or two later they decided they should drop from division two to division four?God is an Englishman wrote:Didn't Lion technically merge with another team to get that spot or was that Pirie?Die Toten Hosen wrote:We've all seen Lion dictate what division they would like to play so anything is possible.

That was to give their sunday spot to Pirie, but doesn't explain how Lion jumped into saturday division two.God is an Englishman wrote:Didn't Lion technically merge with another team to get that spot or was that Pirie?Die Toten Hosen wrote:We've all seen Lion dictate what division they would like to play so anything is possible.

Just wanna thank all the teams in Saturday division 2 this year on a entertaining ( on and off the field) season all year!! The way it ended was a fairy tale for us and we can't wait to test ourselves in division one again! Cheers

Good on ya mate, and I second your thoughts.Jets number 7 wrote:Just wanna thank all the teams in Saturday division 2 this year on a entertaining ( on and off the field) season all year!! The way it ended was a fairy tale for us and we can't wait to test ourselves in division one again! Cheers
I'm glad all the little fairies at Modbury got their happy ending!

But seriously, congrats on a well deserved title, and good luck for next season in the big league. I'll definitely miss the banter with the Jets faithful, especially with my good mate GIAE (and Viper Steve).
That's all from me..................until next season.

Hope everyone enjoys getting fat, lazy and unfit over the off season, cause I sure will!
