Na, I don't buy it, you're all the same to me. 'Australians' is too broad a term as many Australians come from a superior blood line than that of an English convict. But, I'm happy to agree if it makes you feel better. I can understand you wanting to distance yourself from your humble convict roots, similar to how Nazi is a dirty word to most Germans.God is an Englishman wrote:Azzurri80 wrote:There's a difference? :?
Of course there is, England was never a prison colony. We sent the cabernet we didn't want over here and they are what we now know as australians.

my country doesn't have any convict roots, we sent them to a god forsaken island on the other side of the world.
You're more of a convict than me as you have the passport and nationality to match it.
You are correct, some australians do come from a superior blood line, my children being a great example.

Soo many things wrong with your comments, but this is where I jump ship. For what ever reasons (I'm guessing a way out of the argument) you chose to involve your children. This is where things can get out of hand and that's not how I play ball. Good luck to you, you win.
Anyway, if we continue any further I will contradict my original post, which means I'll have to call you or let you buy me a beer, and well, I'd rather not be seen with your type. Convict
Ok, I lied, I'll still take the beer

How is getting out of the argument, they are australians but with a superior English blood line. Couldn't use myself as I'm not australian.
I will certainly take the red part as my victory. I'd like to thank my parents for always supporting me, the academy it was a thrill to even be nominated but most of all God. Without his big hitting then the England cricket team wouldn't be where they are today.

Sorry, what nationality were the "convicts" before they arrived in Australia?God is an Englishman wrote:just killed themThe Kop wrote:What happened to the convicts before 1788?
Please note, South Australia has never been a "convict" colony.

they were many different nationalities including irish and greek. However, their descendants are now what are known as "australians".
SA was originally part of NSW, which was a penal colony so the whole SA wasn't a prison colony is bullshit. Changing your name doesn't change history.

Um what?
From Wiki
The state's origins are unique in Australia as a freely settled, planned British province,[6] rather than as a convict settlement. Official settlement began on 28 December 1836, when the colony was proclaimed at The Old Gum Tree by Governor John Hindmarsh.

Re: Saturday Results - 1 June
Part of NSW, where'd you hear that from?
Having studied Australian history, extensively, this is simply not true.
A quick history lesson for you - British colonists arrived in South Australia in the 19th century to establish a "free colony", with no convict settlers.
I guess I should never argue with an idiot (GIAE). You’ll drag me down to your level then beat me with experience!

Depends what the Aborigines called it. The English hadn’t called it anything it hadn’t been surveyed or proclaimed.Bacon888 wrote:So what was it called between 1788 & 1836?Baresi wrote:Um what?

Re: Saturday Results - 1 June
I have no idea when it was surveyed, mainly because I don't care and it's irrelevant.
If we take Bacon's map as true, then we know that the area we are now in was part of NSW.
We also know that NSW was a penal colony.
Therefore, the area we are in today was a penal colony called NSW.
QED!

I don't believe lesotho has ever been part of SA, but happy to be corrected on that one.Ciudad Juarez wrote:so by your logic lesotho is really south africaGod is an Englishman wrote:I have no idea when it was surveyed, mainly because I don't care and it's irrelevant.
