IF THE AMATUERS OF DIV 1 AND 2 ARE SO GOOD WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME ONE OF THEM WON A CUP FINAL AGAINST STATE LEAUGE CLUBS.....IF THEY HAVE`NT THEN THE CHALLENGE IS AHEAD.
Re: Trimmers
The real challenge ahead is for football in SA to get to a point where FFSA and SAASL teams can actually play each other once again without political or financial repercussions!wiseoldman wrote:IF THE AMATUERS OF DIV 1 AND 2 ARE SO GOOD WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME ONE OF THEM WON A CUP FINAL AGAINST STATE LEAUGE CLUBS.....IF THEY HAVE`NT THEN THE CHALLENGE IS AHEAD.

believe a few years ago Elizabeth Downs beat a premier league side and was then drawn against Galaxy but forfeit as either league wouldnt move the fixture as the team would have to play Saturday and Sundaywiseoldman wrote:IF THE AMATUERS OF DIV 1 AND 2 ARE SO GOOD WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME ONE OF THEM WON A CUP FINAL AGAINST STATE LEAUGE CLUBS.....IF THEY HAVE`NT THEN THE CHALLENGE IS AHEAD.

When was the last time a state league team won a cup final against an A League team?

Well said swanny..... Just back on to the topic of Trimmers, if he gets fit ( well as fit as trimmers can ) and stays injury free he will score a bag full in the amateur league... What is the record for 1 season ? But if he is only half hearted and just collecting money then he might only score 10 to 15....

off the top of my head in 1984 or 85 gardens beat eliz city only to lose to then champions croatia 3-2 aet 1/4 final then beat a high riding ttg the next day in sun div 1, in the early ninety's beat cumberland, polonia, then lost to port lion in quarters, we were drawn home in only one game which was against polonia and we had to play at duncan anderson reserve which was e vale home ground because it was fenced

Re: Trimmers
In 1985 Brahma Lodge ( coach B. Cook ) beat a near full strength ( inc D. Leane ) Cumberland Utd in the 1st round of the Cup, and had to play Hellas in the next round.
Hellas were leading 1-0 at half time, everyone in Hindmarsh could hear their coach at H/T.
When BL came out in the 2nd half, they were the walking wounded, as this game was played on a mid week public holiday, only 2 days after BL had to play Croydon in a top o table SAASL game. Final score was 9-0, not real bad for a 3rd div SAASL side.
I am sure there are many others, it is all on the day, anything is possible. I know there are many amateur clubs who would love a crack at an FFSA club in a cup game, unfortunately the rules dont allow it.
Maybe one day all 3 associations ( SAASL, FFSA, Coll. ) will play off for a State/Premier Cup, until then we can only speculate what might happen.

things happen for a reason
Re: Trimmers
We beat Noarlunga 5v0, we went into the 1/4 final against Galaxy which was to be played on a Saturday but we had a league game on the next day so we had to forfeit. We ended up winning the league so a vindicated move. I believe we asked the SAASL to move our match to a weekday, which they did, to Friday, one day before the Cup game...Coach Magic Hands wrote:believe a few years ago Elizabeth Downs beat a premier league side and was then drawn against Galaxy but forfeit as either league wouldnt move the fixture as the team would have to play Saturday and Sundaywiseoldman wrote:IF THE AMATUERS OF DIV 1 AND 2 ARE SO GOOD WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME ONE OF THEM WON A CUP FINAL AGAINST STATE LEAUGE CLUBS.....IF THEY HAVE`NT THEN THE CHALLENGE IS AHEAD.
