Re: Liverpool 2011/12
Liverpool's goal was lucky, yes, but Andy along with a few others were unlucky not to snatch it at the death. Joe Hart BOG, Lucas was good both defensively and on the ball and was our best IMO... Adam got better as the game went on. Agger would have to be up there with the best ball-playing CB's in the league when fit and on song.El Diez wrote:Roberto Mancini pointed the finger at Liverpool players as he accused them of getting Mario Balotelli sent off.
The Italian striker angrily kicked the dressing-room door after he received the third red card of his Manchester City career in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Anfield. And Mancini said: 'It is not a correct decision. Mario did not deserve the second yellow card. Every time Mario does something, other players provoke him.'
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, however, insisted Balotelli had only himself to blame, as the Barclays Premier League leaders were held for only the second time this season. Dalgish said: 'The reaction of our players? I think Balotelli got himself sent-off. His actions spoke louder than anyone else, didn't they? Sometimes when you look in the mirror, you get the answer.'
Balotelli, 21, was booked twice in seven minutes. The first was for a needless pull back on Glen Johnson, but the second came after he clumsily collided with Martin Skrtel. Mancini claimed referee Martin Atkinson was influenced by Skrtel's reaction.
He said: 'Mario moved his arm and Skrtel reacted like a young player. I don't think it was good. The referee gave the free-kick but he didn't want to give the yellow card.
'When the Liverpool players saw this, they went there and said "Yellow card! Yellow card!" Mario should pay attention because he knows many players provoke him.
Crowding around: Agger (centre) and Adam (right) let their feelings known after the Italian clashed with Skrtel (left)
'This is not correct.' It was confirmed Balotelli had not put a hole in the dressing room door as they have long-since been reinforced with two-inch Perspex.
Mancini continued: 'I am disappointed with him for the first yellow card but not for the second. He did not deserve it. The last three months Mario has played well and scored a lot of goals.'
Not surprisingly, Dalglish took a different stance. 'Sometimes he doesn't help himself,' he said. 'If you help yourself, you don't get in that position. I don't think our boys did anything.'
Liverpool were the better side in an entertaining game and but for an inspired display from goalkeeper Joe Hart, they would have had more to show than a point after Joleon Lescott's 33rd-minute own goal cancelled out Vincent Kompany's headed opener.
Sympathy: Mancini defended his striker
'Joe saved an import ant point,' said Mancini. 'We played five days ago in Naples. There was a difference between us. Liverpool had freshness. We were not 100 per cent.
'We tried to win but it is not easy. Liverpool are a good team.'
Hart said: 'We came here last year and got tonked. This was a big game and we are happy.'
Dalglish sent Craig Bellamy home to grieve following Gary Speed's sudden death. Dalglish, who signed Speed for Newcastle in 1998, said: 'Gary was a fantastic player but, more importantly, he was a decent fella.
'He was like a mentor to Bellers.
'Bellers was upset and I took the decision to leave him out. There are more important things than playing a football match.'
Anyone who thinks that Balotelli's sending off wasn't red are kidding themselves, first yellow was blatant and the second was simple enough ... you cannot lead with your elbow, there was no need for it to be up around Skrtel's head.
Makes me laugh how people are always on the back of Suarez saying he dives etc, then don't say a word after games like this mornings where he is chopped about every time he is on the ball. No doubt the same people won't be after Milner, Micah Richards for making the most of soft challenges against them - they are English of course.
Happy with the point but unlucky not to get more, with a good run coming up hopefully we can string a few wins back to back.

Re: Liverpool 2011/12
pool only got on top for the last 15 min but before that city had by far the majority of the play. ref was a shocker, reiner could have been red for handball outside the box, suarez should have been carded about 20 times for diving, he's an embarrassment. happy with the point, we were below par but not outplayed at all.

Re: Liverpool 2011/12
suarez once again diving
but joe hart wow he stood tall that last 10 mins, his double safe was great especially the header save from carrol
as much as i hate balotelli, i don think he deserved a 2nd yellow. liverpool players surrounded the ref straight away, and put the pressure on him to give a 2nd yellow, was very weak
why does pool play good against the top teams?

You missed a stat:
Floored by the strength and pace (
) of Dzeko: 1
I'll blame that stat on tiredness, Lucas had a good game.

This is coming from a guy who supports a team that bought success. Judging by your typing, you're about 16 and support Chelsea when they bought their first title a few years agoChelsea4thewin wrote:Del Boca Vista wrote:i'm loving all the old people showing their hate for the reds. must have been tough living most of your lives with liverpool being the biggest thing ever. now you post on small forums seething about how they tormented you for decades. i will imitate one sad old man to end this post

Good performance today. Coates was outstanding and lucas was brilliant as usual. Hopefully he isn't injured for too long. Everyone played well today! I wonder if Chelsea are scared of Liverpool yet ?!

Excellent Carling Cup results tonight. Couldn't be happier with Chavski and the Goons both getting knocked out.

I'd suggest anyone thinking a player could get carded 20 times in one game is more of an embarrassment.El Diez wrote:blue moon wrote:pool only got on top for the last 15 min but before that city had by far the majority of the play. ref was a shocker, reiner could have been red for handball outside the box, suarez should have been carded about 20 times for diving, he's an embarrassment. happy with the point, we were below par but not outplayed at all.

Depends on the ref doesn't it? Josip Simunic got carded 3 times in a world cup game by that English ref!Bomber wrote:I'd suggest anyone thinking a player could get carded 20 times in one game is more of an embarrassment.El Diez wrote:blue moon wrote:pool only got on top for the last 15 min but before that city had by far the majority of the play. ref was a shocker, reiner could have been red for handball outside the box, suarez should have been carded about 20 times for diving, he's an embarrassment. happy with the point, we were below par but not outplayed at all.

Hats off to Lucas. He defends so amazingly and he has great passing accuracy too. He killed Torres today. Loved it! Hope he isn't out for long. Has once again been our player of the season so far!

Shows how important a DM really is. Having a player of that calibre is hard to find. If only we had the forgotten man Essien in our teamtotsreds08 wrote:Hats off to Lucas.
