sorry, no answer he's probably on the golf course.

So facts are these, 3-0 in England was close but for the weather could have been 4-0.
How can "could have been" be labelled "a fact" to begin with? Until you can grasp this, then you may want to revisit this 4-0 rubbish.
Bottom line - we have a REAL 4-0 lead. :D
Also keeps forgetting the 3rd Test that Australia 'might' have won....was the draw that meant England retained the Ashes....a win there 'might' have changed the series outlook...

because we could have been, that's a fact.

you mean the game that was still a long way out compared to a game which only needed 1 more over.

"could have" is not a factual event, it is still a supposition. :)

are you saying we couldn't have won. Of course we could, it's a fact. It wouldn't be a fact to say we would have but it's undeniable that we could have. FACT!

As with the 3rd Test 3/37 (or 37/3) and only 20 overs bowled...
The 5th Test England sill needed 21 runs form 4 overs with 5 wickets down....Australia could have won that one too !

It is also therefore a fact that you could have won only 3-2 (using that analogy). Therefore pointless

Just because the students won't listen doesn't mean the teacher should give up. I'm here to educate.

Arrogance is a self deluded sense of your own ability. I'm not arrogant, I am as great as I think I am.

Well, Ive given you all night to construct your lesson plan. Still no response to why if one thing that could happen is a fact, yet another thing that could happen is not a fact. Hmmm?

Nice try. Now maybe you'd like to explain how something that "could have" happened (ie won the test if not for rain) is a fact and how something that "could have" happened (ie WE won the test of not for rain) isn't a fact?

As previously stated, I'll try and keep it simple and only use one of the situations.

It's a fact that we could have but it's not a fact that would have.

Inside cricket on fox last night. Boycott maintains a 3-0 score was very flattering when in england and that 2-2 was more along the lines of a fair result.
I guess he knows nothing about cricket...............(as boring as he was when he played)
