I assume, you're blaming the clubs, rather than the league. They should have assessed properly whether or not they could field two teams. Too late to change it now, hopefully it's a lesson learnt & leads to these clubs both growing to two teams next year.

I would certainly suggest that the clubs in question should have looked more closely at their numbers before nominating for an A+B league, but the league also have some responsibility here.

Div 4 this year has been shaky from day one, the make up of Div's 5,6 and 7 also seem to have changed from day to day. As I have suggested previously I think it's about time that the league had a good look at how it structures the divisions and how many A+B divisions it can sustain and weather we need more single team divisions.

It is of course to late to fix this for this season and clubs will have to make the most of it. We are already trying to arange some friendlies to cover the missing games.

The dissapointment comes when I must tell my players that they may well now be playing 4 less games then they were. :(

Some clubs have the players to make up another team, they are just finding it hard to get personnel to look after / run the team, seems no one wants that responsibility. Apart from looking after the team ,you need to set up the pitch, a linesperson, usually a ref etc and lot of people just want to play cant be bothered with all the other stuff - but if all the players chipped in wouldnt be so hard. I know of at least 2 clubs in the Saturday comp who have enough players for at least 2 C teams ( or a div 4 A+B )but have only entered one. Having only one pitch doesnt help.
As was mentioned a while ago, a lot of players at this level just want to play their game, and then afterwards cheer on their mates while having a feed and a drink.

1 changed I noticed was Hahndorf disappearing from Div 7 and being replaced by Vipers.

SAT DIV 6
Why would a team new to Div 6 assume their kick off times? This division has kicked off at 11:30 since it started (with the exception of a few Torrens valley home games last year). At least TValley communicated this. Apparently several teams have arrived in Div 6 and think that every team plays at 3pm. WELL THEY DONT. Check your kick off times. We were ready to play at 11:30 this week (as we have been for several years) and our opposition (Northern Wolves) arrived at 3pm. Well thanks for the forfiet points lads, maybe clubs new to Div 6 should check with the league when the games start.

Email from the SAASL on Monday morning has 5 teams kicking off at 11.30, and 5 teams at 3pm for their home games in Div 6.

Crazy structure. Does Div 7 have this issue? I'm sure Div 5 doesn't, as they are all C teams.

Considering there is now two 'one team' clubs in Division 4, the benefit of hindsight would have been nice to provide for:

18 game Division 4 (7 first and reserve teams play x3)
18 game Division 5 (7 first team only plays x3)

with the remaining 5 'C' teams split among Division 6 and Div 7 (both 11 team comps, 20 game seasons - play excess games on Cup weekends).

The two teams in Saturday Div 4 that dropped their Reserves have alot to answer for!

As far as I can tell all the Div7 teams are C teams so assumed 11:30am ko unless contacted for alternative time.

I don't think 5 teams kicking off at 3pm and the other 5 at 11.30 will work for our team, as we have a lot of young lads that work in the afternoon and early evening most Saturdays and some of the other players want to go support the A's playing.
Disappointing that we weren't told earlier and the SAASL is not adopting their official handbook time for C games at 11.30 anymore. It was bad enough with just Torrens Valley doing it last season but now we have 5 more.
Also very disappointing that we got our passes done for last weeks games and when we went to pick them up we were given a $10 each pass surcharge on top of the usual $37 per player, which at the delegates meeting they said it was only for the previous weeks games.
I know the SAASL are trying their best but it's just turning into a train wreck as far as our club is concerned.

Are some of the Div 4 clubs arranging friendlies with teams that have byes when they are playing Mantarays and Adelaide Uni Orange.

Torrens Valley may be looking for friendlies for their reserves in round 6 and 7 when we play Manta and AU orange.

Was just wondering if all teams play interchange for their c grades or not? Had a case this season where the other team refused due to thinking they were in the epl.

Usually it is the only sides without subs...

Last year it was the rule just the number you had to agree on before the match.

Honestly though even if they don't have subs they are all playing for fun in div 7 c grade. We had 5 on then bench and 2 miss out. I hope other teams are willing to use the interchange or at least let all 5 subs come on for a run.

Depends on the opposition, I played a lot of Div 6 last year and every game was as hard fought as the Div 2 B's I am playing this year.
(watching the A's I would include them on a passion level as well)

Just because it is a lower grade you are naive (that's putting it nicely) to think it is social.

If you want a fun kick around, organise 20 blokes to have a park kick around over the weekend

In saying that the rules(last year anyway) is interchange....Ring the office to clarify.

Well that is ridiculous, why have interchange last year then change it for this year:roll:

Usually the older and the emerging player play in these leagues....Doesn't make sense to regulate it like this.

After the Fuçk up with the draws in the C grades and now this it really points to the SAASL losing the plot this season

Maybe they were to caught up in wooing the FED Breakaways rather than looking after the Loyalists :(

Saasl last year said c grade leagues were interchange, in line with O35. If they haven't announced any change to that, it should remain.

I asked our secretary to contact the league for clarification in Div 6. They couldn't even get kickoff times right before the season started.

Played interchange on Saturday

Totally agree with you Franco..... we have approx 16 to 17 players registered in our C team. You can only play 14 players in your 2 main sides, that being your A & B squad. The C team on the other hand is comprised of the surplus players that the club has registered, and in our case, mainly ex senior players that are aged 35 years and older, and also for players who have hardly had a game of competitive soccer before. I think interchange is the only way to go in the lower leagues. It allows all players in the C team to have a go, or rest their legs for a bit. I know when you cross that white line, whether you play A league or C team in the SAASL, you want to win, no doubt, but common sense should prevail. And, what do you do in the case where all C team players pay the same registration money, then 3-4 of them each week get asked to have a rest and not play that particular week end? At least with an interchange system, everyone gets a run and has a bit of fun!!! Just my opinion any way. :)

Couldn't agree with you anymore 5cougars. The thing I am saying is that with our club we have a lot of players who have never played before but have mates in the A's and B's and have decided to have a go themselves at the game. But paying your fees and doing the right thing and supporting your club you are not promised a game unless the other teams who don't have enough players to field three teams agree to it. They should not have a c team then. Bring the interchange back is all I am saying.

When we played you guys 2 weeks back, I dont think I ever saw more players kit up for 1 team!! And thats how it should be in the C division... leave the seriousness to the younger guys... most of us have had our fun in the seniors over many years, all we want is a bit of a run with our mates, and a couple of coldies after the game

Lets just say that we could probably give our A's a run for their money.. good fun :D Any ways, got more important things to focus on, like our round 4 clash with the Vipers at Viperville..... going to be a hard clash for our boys I think... you guys looking the goods so far..?

Bullsh1t 5 Cougars......You guys want to win like the rest of us....It is part of our make up...All for the beer after the game and such but don't feed me rubbish about it not being serious.

We have guys(like most clubs) that will never play A's or B's and consider C's and D's as their premiership.....Even as an old fart I play to win rather than for fun.

My tips are proof that any side can win.....

Looking forward to hosting the cougars, just wish the league had the good sense to allocate 3 games instead of 2....

I know of at least 1 guy that has been hanging for this game
