No one is taking anything for granted, we respect all the clubs around us and know that any of the teams in Div 1 can take points away from us.

Was not at the game myself as I has the Twins 21st sat night/ sun morn and was indisposed. As far as players not coming in it would be the first time in 10 years. From what I have been told the game was a late start as the Ressies game was late to finish. Apparently word had also got around that RBTs were in full force down that way on Sat and Sunday that combined with a 40 min trip home would have deterred most from coming in for a pint.
Apologies to Laurie and the Fulham lads, sometimes circumstances prevent what would usually be a warm down beer with the opposition.

Can't really see it happening, but with the injuries (or faux injuries) picked up yesterday, we're hopeful of you dropping some points in the next couple of games.

We still have to win ours first though, Downs at home this weekend!

Come on  RBTs preventing players coming in from a pint!! Are they all on their probationary license?

Marooned not here to get in an arguement but you have apologised and rightly so but the thing would be to do (if you are on the committee) is tell Reevsy that it is expected for most of the 1st team and especially the coach to go in for a drink and like i said a coke is a drink - doesn't have to be a beer.

It wasn't easy for us to come in after losing 7-1 but we did because that was the direction from the coach and by the way we had to drive 40 mins home as well.

Like I said previously - the example is set by the coach.

I'm not sure about my "three supporters" but I have certainly gone in for a beer after the game at every away game we have played this year...

Good luck at your Drivers intervention on Wednesday 9.35 :D

As I said I was not there so I don't know why it didn't happen. I can only apologize, I can't force people to drink. Over the years many teams for varying reason have not come into our club but i don't come on here and bag them. I only spoke to one person and he mentioned RBTs and the game running late. That has never stopped me from coming in for an ale and a chat. Will know more later in the week but I don't think we need a Spanish Inquisition into why no one came in for a beer. Just hope the supporters ate your food and bought your drinks.

its funny when downs play away from home that all the bbq takings are up but noone says gee thanks for that(except vikings)
so the first team didnt have a beer, dont think downs have ever complained about oposing teams not comin in to the club but only pat on the back the ones that do.sounds like up 2-0 and only to lose 3-2 hmmm who can we blame.

my apologies to west beach, it was west beach that thanked the downs for their support not vikings
the downs have such a big support that who ever they visit whether it is bbq or beer the home team is in front.
maybe reevesy shoud of instructed the players to have a drink but do coaches have the power to make it mandatory, at the end of the day , they are grown men with lives outside of soccer.

You can come up with all the excuses you want. POOR FORM by the DOWNS. There should not be an excuse NO ONE came into the club afterwards, it is just bad etiquette. Not everyone can stay back, but the coach and some players should make effort in my opinion.

Fair enough you've said your piece. From now maybe we should start an etiquette thread. Redders, I could count the amount of Lion trips to our clubrooms on one hand so your probably not one to take the higher ground. Yes it would be good for players to go in and have drink but its not law and its not enforceable. Maybe things were said on the pitch? I don't know. But if a team came to our ground a decided they didn't fancy a drink in our clubrooms (as plenty do) the last thing i would do is jump on the forum and cry me frigging heart out over something so petty. No chat about the game, no chat about results, no chat about refs, no chat about why you surrendered a 2 goal lead, just a whine about 10 frigging beers. Beers are in the post. Get over it.

Not defending the actions at all because that is poor form on all accounts, but i am assuming that they were the team beers from after the game (as someone shouts every game) so they would only have been 2 or 3 left and im sure plenty of beers where bought during the day.

Correct me if im wrong as i wasnt there :?:

Credit to the Vikings, never gave up after going a goal down then took there chances and killed off the game.

Hard to keep our heads high at the moment, but these are times when you need to.....

Hey Andy B & Vale_boy05, we are not too concerned about the beer drinking in the club rooms to be honest, results at this stage are far more important, I'm disappointed it was mentioned on here in the first place. We have tried to make an effort this year by showing hospitality to visiting clubs but putting some food on for them and hoping that they do come in for a drink afterwards. We are not a big club nor have a long history like many other clubs in Div 1 so we are trying to build a culture and a respect that other Div 1 clubs have for each other. I walked in after the game and saw 20+ of your lads and supporters in the clubrooms and thought great, then one of our committee members mentioned, "yeh this is great but they are drinking their own beer in the clubrooms". I was like no way, no chance they are eating the food and having a few beers, (think I was a bit naive) cause at that point he indicated to the beer bottles that were on the tables in front of the Vale guys of beer brands that we dont sell at the club  I sort of shut up after that.
Look no biggy, we were happy you guys came in and we know it's small steps for us to get to a strong position like many of the other Div 1 clubs.
