but honestly... who here before the World Cup would've taken 4 points in the group stage?

I think most of us would've thought it would get us through.

One of Australia's best this campaign.
Keep your shirt on. :P He's improved. He hasn't been "great", nor has he been one of our best. He'd only come in above Kennedy, Carney, Moore and maybe Emerton.

If only wilkshire finished that sitter you mean!!!!!
if only Scwharzer had saved the penalty, if only Germany hadn't scored and Ghana had, if only the entire German starting XI had never been born...
doesn't matter now

not to mention...... if your aunty had balls she'd be your uncle

I see the reason that he played for Twente, now. 2 goals from a forward/attacking midfielder? Yeah, not a bad return. Still doesn't make him great.

well done to the socceroos :D

played with a lot of heart against both ghana and serbia and it was great to see them get the win they deserved

ghana don't deserve to go through with some uninspiring performances over the 3 games but they didn't concede 4 times to germany so I guess we only have ourselves to blame

these last 2 games proved to the world just how good we really are when we play the right players in the right positions and can take the game to ANY opposition

I think most of us would've thought it would get us through.

Thing is, we only got 4 points in the last world cup too. It's just that we didn't get hammered by Brazil, like we did against Germany.

We were worth 6 points this time in my eyes.

Oh, he had a great world cup, but that's only for the goals he scored and his standards. Mind you, contributing 2 goals out of 3 is a bit of alright.

Terry resigned? Said they were going nowhere (again)?

Great effort by the lads, and one that they can be proud of. They believed and they succeeded, if only their coach had the same belief we'd probably be talking about a winable game that would be v USA in the 2nd round with a strong possibility of a quarter final appearance. Not to be, and maybe before the FFA appoints its next coach, each candidate must be made aware of the Australian sporting spirit which is never say die and never say cant do. In my opinion, Pim had conceded defeat before a ball v the Germans had even been kicked, and that was the ultimate undoing of the Socceroos. Not to worry, he is now gone, never liked him from the beginning, and you cant really expect to do well with people like Graham Arnold sitting on the same bench. Welldone to the lads, great comeback but too little, too late. Look towards the Asian Cup and WC 2014 qualifiers :D

well kinda... He quit... one of the players went absolutely ballistic at him on the sidelines after being subbed and all the players sided with the player.

funny how 6 years has passed and nothing has changed.. seems the seniors side of things is still a shambles.

anyway back on topic.

If Australia play like they did last night in the Asian Cup in January, they will be very hard to beat. Hopefully we can get most of the players out in january.

And i agree with HolYman, has been quite impressive this world cup, hopefully he can keep it up. Ultimately, the Germany game screwed us over, and a bit of bad luck in the Ghana game didnt help either.

Much better performance, and thats the Socceroos we know of!

Just like in 2006 - What could have been....
