Today,
OISC D/E select 10 - 1 Athelstone Cs
OISC E 5 - 1 Athelstone Over 35s
Bit disappointing today, half of our selected Ds and Es side didn't rock up or let the coach know they weren't playing, so we had 6 or 7 of the Es backup and play with the Ds. Only 4 of our Ds championship side from last year played (with one "ring-in" from the Bs to make up the numbers), and lot of the Es guys that played were young kids new to the club.
Well in to Athelstone for never giving up, obviously a few of the guys were still learning the game. Our Cs and Ds got hammered in a similar manner in 2008, and alot of them are streets ahead of where they were then. It takes time and patience for guys to learn the skills, positioning etc - persist and it will come.
Bacon8's coaching career: 1 game, 1 victory.
Was an enjoyable day, didn't see Athelstone stop playing all day.

Sounds like you should have left someone at home (or at least make him find his own way to the ground).
Both teams looking very good even though they had 2 or 3 players missing each. They should both be the front runner in there respective leagues this year.
Both sides not at full strength. Quite a feisty friendly but all in all played in good spirits.
Great effort from the boys with just 16 players available for selection for both games. Some sore bodies yesterday and today.

Not sure whats so interesting about result !! Was the 1st hit out for both teams and it was a good game which both sides can take some positives from.
The fact that Sturt were utter shite last year, perhaps.

Both teams finished roughly the same in the respective leagues last season and as mentioned this was both teams first trial game, so i wouldn't be taking any notice of the scoreline for either team. Was a training / fitness run.
At the end of it all there will still be Football !!
It wasn't Bad but its Far from Good !
