Pontians 1
Imbros 0
Pontians go through the whole season winning every game at home!
The game against Imbros wasnt the usually tough and hard stuff, it was quite tame and a little dull. The Imbros keeper pulled off two great saves to keep Imbros in it before the break. Pontians scored with about 15 to go and deserved the win.
as gracious as always (sorry...sarcasm doesnt work on this forum). for a keeper who kept their team in the game with a save in the last two minutes, i wouldve thought a share of the points wouldve have been fair result.
i thought we dominated possession but couldnt score. i was very surprised with the amount of long balls played by you blokes. having at least 3 ex prem players i thought we'd see some possession/build up football.
honest question - how many of your boys take their physical well being serious?
how come no mention of the reserves game????????????

dont mention the b's mega, i'm still hurting ......not just because of the score but the guy with a well taken brace that took all the limelight..lol..
2 great goals and a great save to top off a great year with the pontians . i thought it was very even affair but besides the long balls there was some excellent passing from the pontians i think that was the biggest difference.
in the b's, in good faith we didnt ask for an official ref, after much diliberation our comitee decieded it was better to put faith in a fello greek background club and let the 2 best teams decide the title race, afterall off the park many players are friends....the garbage ref u dished up wasnt a cheat, but he was clearly terrible. in the most subtle way After awarding an penalty from what can only be described as a joke it kinda killed the game in the opening 5 minutes...along with sending off a player then taking it back , and picking up foul throws all day itskinda disappointing . the 3 other goals where well taken and some real gems, but sportsmanship still means alot in my book...
the raptors boys fought on to the end but its kinda hard to tell players who have fought for 16 games for slim chance of a championship that away from home thats normal and to expect it..
does sportsmanship still exist?......if i was a prick i couldve used dirty tactics and told my players to start a fight, get the game called off and have it replayed at head quaters with an official ref....but we are better than that.
credit out for a fantastic season and a well done to the coach, players and comitee for all their hard work...championships are hard work but also special when u dominate ur league like th pontians have.
a big club that should and will dominate the higher divisions.
i can honestly say the raptors are slowly but surely coming up, like the wise bull who told his young son to rush down the hill and f*(c(K the closest cow to them, while he strolled down and f)(*cked the m all......
we'll be back...

Hi Chris,
" After awarding an penalty from what can only be described as a joke it kinda killed the game in the opening 5 minutes."
I think you are being very diplomatic towards the referee in regards to the
" penalty " which he had no right in giving as we all know. How can a penalty be awarded when the Pontians were lining up to take a free kick outside the 18 yard box and the ball was not active. If he did spot a push by one of the Raptors defenders then all he could have done was either caution him or red card him, but to award a penalty was beyond belief. As we all know a penalty can not be awarded in these circumstances when the ball has not been played. As one of the Pontian players told me after the game " I'm glad we went on to win the game 4-0 and not have the game decided on that stupid decision our ref made, it really would have been a disgrace for us "
Congratulations to both Pontians A's and B's and good luck to them next year in Division 2.
Best wishes

Easties game last weekend against pumas was very disapointing for us. We changed our formation to try to get some goals and a win, but just didnt happen. Frankie and his mate were complaining all game long and i dont think they took a challenge without falling to the ground and whinging!! Pumas fought hard all game long though and we didnt match their intensity at stages through the game which cost us badly. We did have an all in scuffle with the Pumas keeper being sent off for retaliation and there cock of a coach running on the field trying to get involved. He was a very angry man and at one point was close to puching one of his own players which was trying to get him off the field. With Farm loosing though it was a huge sigh of relief to stay top but things must change if we are to be there at the end of the season. This may be another wake up call for our boys, coz we will need to fire against beach otherwise be punished. No game is an easy game is it boys!!!!
Game
I witnessed the game and it was quite a scrappy game. Both teams were all over the park defensively. I still cannot understand how the pumes keeper was sent off and the player who BOOTED him in the head did not recieve anything. I guess anybody would retaliate if they were kicked in the head! I dont blame himEast Boy wrote:Easties game last weekend against pumas was very disapointing for us. We changed our formation to try to get some goals and a win, but just didnt happen. Yeah the game was scrappy i will agree with that. I think that was due to our formation change. As for the keeper incident, it was there to be had! If your striker pulled out of a 50/50 with the keeper with little time remaining im sure you'd be pissed. I thought there was no intention to harm him and put his hand up as soon as he made contact. Credit to the keeper for puttin his body on the line, but the ref obviously saw it as a fair challenge. i agree.
Mr bigpond you of all people should know what we are like. We will fight till the death, but some games u just cant do enough to get the winning result. Unfortunatley we have dropped points lately to teams we should have easily won against, but hey its not they easy! We are not shakey just need a few goals, rebounds, something to go our way. If we win the last 2 then we are promoted and the champions easy as that!

u dont have to tell me there r no easy games East Boy cos I know what u mean.
We slipped up against teams earlier in the season which will cost us in the end unless we have a miracle happen.
I will still rather be in ur position than ours but a loss this week and the knights will be licking their lips for the last game to have a chance to knock u guys out of the top 2.

U do raise some good points when it comes down to a striker winning a 50/50 challenge near the end of a match, although when sombodies head is on the ground and you have a boot it is not quite 50/50 it becomes 90/10 because nobodies head is harder than a boot and, nobody should go to those lengths when serious injury could b done.East Boy wrote:Yeah the game was scrappy i will agree with that. I understand where your coming from in regards to the head on boot, but thats why they are keepers! instead of going in with their boots they are going in with their hands and elbows and knees! It was from a corner or something like that coz there were a lot of bodies around, so how can you even tell if its the keeper if u have eyes for the ball only. I wouldnt say by any strech of the imagination it was intentional just good hard soccer!! Where has the hardness gone?? Keepers get a lot of protection these days, and they often protect themselves; with knees etc which is fair enough sometimes but its gotta go both ways and if the keeper doesn't have 2 hands on it then go for it i rekon!malakies wrote:U do raise some good points when it comes down to a striker winning a 50/50 challenge near the end of a match, although when sombodies head is on the ground and you have a boot it is not quite 50/50 it becomes 90/10 because nobodies head is harder than a boot and, nobody should go to those lengths when serious injury could b done.East Boy wrote:Yeah the game was scrappy i will agree with that. Thanks Mr Ikon, I love having a run on the park and with the As title wrapped up the club has let me out of my cage. Must admit didnt see the penalty decision got there late, but I think we would of won anyway. I agree that if that wasnt given the game would have played out differently but I still think we would have won. Anyway great to see ya again and you never know if you can get third spot you guys might be promoted as well and then we both get to play Limnos!chris_ ikon Posted: Mon Aug 21, 2006 6:43 pm Post subject:

With all these teams moving 2 saturdays and other clubs on the verge of folding, it might mean that the top 4 or 5 from the lower divisions get promoted and the sunday league losing a division.
And if by chance an honest man such as yourself should make enemies then they would become my enemies, and then they would fear you

but prefer pumas 2 stay up and the other 2, 2 go down
