Downs poor today, need to pull fingers out, too many long balls to 50/50 contests! I think it was a penalty for Downs, RT eventually went to ground after tackle, 2 penalties in two weeks, it was Reeves who got it last week! A's and B's both very hard fought games!!

Vista Vs Gully

Reserves was very one sided to Vista, we played great football and the result reflected the performance.

First team game was totally oposite, very hard fought derby by both teams and neither side stopped till the 90 minutes were up. Both teams had patches where they were on top of the other. Return game later in season should be another cracker!

VALE v's PONTIANS
C's vale won 5-4 great football both teams played high quilty football for c grade great to watch.

B's had it all good football hard tackels but played in good sprit.Pontians missed a penalty in the first half great save from vales keeper. Vale had a penalty in second half, one of the best penalties i have ever seen keeper had no chance.
The second goal came from great build up and was taken well.
A's Vale never gave pontian a chance, vale were a step above in every aspect of the game. Nicholls got a hat trick looks like his back to his best. Crawford got one aswell. I have not seen the vale play this well in many years. Looks like they might give the leauge a good shake.

Thanks M Andrea, just have to watch it because it seems as thought they aren't used to have tackles flying in like on Sundays. I will enjoy playing Saturday this year though, great bunch of lads down at SPOC. Surprising really coz I thought they'd be tossers!!! :D :D

Yes, sadly injuries already for gully reserves and a few key personnel shuffle today cost them. Don't take too much away from vista though who were clearly a bit more hungry than gully to try and right some spankings over the last few seasons to gully, looking forwards to the return leg on a bigger pitch and hopefully some more able bodies.

2 soft goals in the first 20 cost gully badly, IJ goal all class tho to seal the deal in 2nd half. Hawkins providing the crowd with a good laugh or 3 with his antics on field. :)

A's game good entertainment.

Florina V Easties:

We always knew it would be a tough day at the office. As is every game going to be this season. I thought we matched it quite well with Florina. They took their chances, including a penalty. We definatley lack a cutting edge in front of goal. But that was going to happen when you lose your leading goal scorer from last year, need not mention his name, i'm sure he will, and a class player in Mick Krollig and even add Vidak's to that list. I truly beleive we will come good any game now, as the performace was a hell of a lot better than last week against Westies. Lacking in match pracitse and general game time the team will gell and come good.
We have the newly promoted Pontians next. Both teams have had a start to the year im sure we would rather forget. It may just be a vital win for either team to stay with the top half and a much needed confidence boost too.

This Amazing penalty must have been hit with some force because the Penalty taker was substitued straight after with severe muscle damage to the hammy................... or was it just a fat lock ?? Good work LP !! :D

The Club had a great day out, bringing home all 9 points from the 3 games.
Got to keep the momentum up as this week brings the visit of Ingle Farm to Mofflin Road. Both teams yet to drop points.
Should be a cracker and even better when we get the win !!!!
At the end of it all there will still be Football !!

I was to busy cooking BBQ's and serving behind the bar to see the game today. By all reports, Lion moved the ball well and really came back into the game after not getting to much of it in the first 20 mins.

The B's had a fairly comfortable 3 nil win. No goals in the second half again though.

Cheers to the Lion boys for hanging around for a drink or three. Not many of them but they made up for it in the amount each of them drink.

On a side note, how good was the BBQ!! absolute quality. chicken Burgers, Yiros, Steak Sangers!! Top quality chefs I think!!

How's the wrist Grewcock? Disappointing result for you guys on Saturday. Thought that GFC should of gone forward when you were 2 nil down. Tazo missing for the Wanderers to. So much for his theory that they lose when he doesn't play. Enjoy the bench next week mate  Brazza gone for a while I would of thought if he did his achilles. That guy might be in his 40's but he is still a great player.

Saturday league is going to be a tight one this year. No clear cut stand out team.

Vale played some good football today, tough, hard but fair. We didnt get off to a good start copped a soft goal from a corner then the keeper comes with an injury and two minutes later our striker comes off with an injury. 1-0 down and two forced subs and 20minutes hadnt even past yet. At half time another injury so all three subs made and then 25 minutes in another player get injury, this time due to a tackle, not a nasty one at that. And then we go score with only 10 men!.

Vale deserved the victory and it was good to see some of their players still around for drinks. On a sad note and I think it needs to be said The rubbished left behind by their supports was a joke. It made the wingfield tip look spotless. We play at a primary school so we are very carefull about not leaving any rubbish behind. A large green wheely bin was placed over that side and still there were not one or two bottles but enough to make a bottle collecter have the week off. Even the Vale player were embarressed and disappointed with what they saw. A bit of a bad tarish to what was a good display by the Vale club. We dont care if you bring your own beers that happens at most grounds but at least just put it in the bin. Lucky there is school holidays this week, some of the boys are still cleaning up!!!

Good luck to the Vale and if that is the best they have played for some time well I think we might suprise some teams. We may not make top 2 or 3 but we certainly wont go down. Look forward to Easties this week and hope to get our first three points of Div 1.

We will call it even now then :) Although the bench comment was for Tazzo. I was referring to your wrist actions off the pitch  Only kidding mate

Remember Grewcock, No train, no play.

Gleeson had an off day, they are better than that but Wanderers can play better also. Interesting return game

The rubbish left behind was a little poor by the Vale supporters but in saying that MAYBE they should provide more than one bin, especially for the clubs with large numbers in support every week.

In regards to this being the best Vale has played, I dont know about that. We can definitely play better. We had control of the game nearlyallthe time but we did have some bad moments where we were caught out on the break.
Some teams will struggle to take points at their ground, especillay in Wet or windy conditions. The pitch is not one for playing real attractive football although we manage too in large parts of the game.
Cheers to Pontian Eagles and good luck for the season !!
