not so happy now that cortese's gone... plus pochettino may follow him out. could lead to a player exodus
pochettino said that he will not walk out on the club while the season is still going.
I have a feeling that cortese wants to buy the club off marcus lieberr's daughter but cant do it as chairman due to conflict of interest.

Another dive from Suarez overnight. I thought he'd improved his balance recently but maybe he's got a personal bet going with Januzaj

& that's why he shouldn't win the FA player of the year

Good 3 points in another London derby, with a midfielder scoring for us again. Hope this doesn't influence Wengers action in the transfer market. Giroud is starting to look really tired & needs somebody to rotate with, Podolski looked good for the 20mins he was on, great strike against the post. Talk of a link with Vucinic from Juve overnight.. get him in!

Focus is now on the FA Cup tie with Coventry & hopefully a signing to kick us on for the remainder of the season

Frustrates me, especially when with his skill I cant see why he needs to do it. Then again I see the ones he should get and doesnt, so it somewhat evens itself out.

Definitely evens itself out. He copped an elbow to the head before that and was on the floor holding his head yet the referee didn't give a free kick or stop the game. Referee was indecisive last night against both teams. Villa played very well in the first half. Lucas is needed for us.

Not sure that a free kick in the middle of the pictch is 'evening up' with a penalty but hey ho.

I do think keepers need to be taught slightly differently now (perhaps they are already - Merse?) so that they don't come sliding out when the player is being pushed wide. It's an open invitation for the forward to just run into them and fall over.

And, just to point out, in a contact sport, minimal contact does not make a foul. Anywhere on the pitch.

Every pundit but Collymore* reckons its a pen, even Linekar and Shearer who are usually the first to jump on the anti-LFC agreed it was a pen.

Sh*thouse performance otherwise, I can't understand why Toure and Skrtel get paired together. 8 goals conceeded in last 3 games they've played as a combo. Need some decent fullbacks in the Jan transfer window too.

Bit of a problem with Gerrard too, he's a bit immobile for the style of football Rodgers wants to play. Best football this season has been with Allen-Lucas-Henderson in midfield and that trio won't play together for the rest of the season.

*who really isn't a pundit's a-hole and has massive grudge.

Toure and Skrtel are our only fit centre halves right now. Sakho is back in training, but obviously not ready just yet, & Agger is still a few weeks away.

As for Gerrard, don't get me started. Absolutely horrible in the deep role.

Rodgers will have to sacrifice someone vital for our formation to work. You can only pick from Lucas, Allen, Hendo, Gerrard, Coutinho and Sterling to play 4 positions. I like the competition though. We don't have this often.

Yeah it was a bit of a worry our starting lineup and to come back from 2-0 down we were lucky because Villa played us off the park in the first half.

Good win for Liverpool, but Everton were really very poor, especially at the back, and nothing up front once Lukaku went off. That's what happens when you've got a small squad. Good game to watch until half time.

Oh, and add Sterling to the list of divers

P.S. Lucky draw for the Goons

Poetic justice from the idiot Toffee fans throwing coins as Suarez about to take a corner - then we score from it!

4-0, could have been more, but a great result all the same.

Liverpool to be honest should have won by 6 goals, especially if Sturridge could pass more and take penalties.

Sturridge got the death look from Rogers after been dragged following his spat with Suarez.

BR Did the right thing there. It was disappointing to see Sturride hog it and not lay it off. We would have probably scored from it. I don't necessarily agree with the way Suarez carries on but I'm sure it'll be sorted out. Great win! All over them.

the one problem with Sturridge's game is his selfishness, wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench next game

If Suarez did what Sturridge did, do you think he would have been taken off?

The change was going to be made regardless.
He apologised straight after the game, it's a non issue.

I reckon so too. To think, we smack our bitter rival 4-0 and yet we're still upset that it wasnt more. This is a great attitude! :D

Came across this from Tim Sherwood which I thought was funny.
Meanwhile, Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches was accused of being drunk in his native Romania after video footage emerged of him having to be helped to walk by friends before falling over.
“He had a weekend off and now he has got to play well,” said Sherwood. “We won’t fine him. He wasn’t breaking any rules. For his own sake, you wish it didn’t happen. He was unsteady on his legs. It’s windy over there.”

The whole incident was blown up. I'm just glad that it seemed like BR wasn't impressed that Sturridge didn't pass the ball. He will definitely start the next match though. Ridiculous to think he wouldn't start.

Never going to get anything out of this game, so not overly bothered. Certainly didn't get much from the officials, we lose our best midfielder to a professional foul by Touré, Dawson was onside so goal should have stood and Rose clearly got the ball and then had minimal contact with Dzeko, so that should have been a corner, not a penalty and we should have had 11 men.

Once you're down to 10 men against a side of that quality, you have no hope.

The only bright spot about his morning is the league table
