He's been coach for 8 years and had a lot of success. Before he arrived, the club nearly folded. Now we sit in Div 1, we've won trophies, we have 5 teams competing in competitions, we've just installed new flood lights and will hopefully begin work on new clubrooms. For a tiny club, a lot has been achieved both on and off the field and Paul is a big reason for that.

I think you'll find that no club in Div 1, 2 or 3 has a coach on the committee. Doesn't mean that its wrong.

Besides, he is a member, he is entitled to stand and be voted onto the committee. If club members didn't want him on, they wouldn't vote him on.
Surely not ?
In Sunday comp its highly likely that there isn't. Saturday could be different.

Amateur clubs need all the help that they can get. It is very difficult to get people to help out all the roles filed within the club. Who cares if he's on there just shows he's passionate for the club. Great work Simmo....

And Andy that was maybe a PM mate... No need for that publically...

Since then we have finished 3rd for 3 years. In that time, we reached our first ever cup final and won, the reserves continue to win trophies and the club has maintained a core group of players who get involved with the club. Are you suggesting that a coach who's worst season is finishing 3rd should get sacked?
Good Point Jay BUT from watching Ingle Farm (not every week) I believe that the club COULD or SHOULD have won a title in those years, as you say not the best facilities in the world but stronger than alot of better established club. The window of opportunity for this side may be shutting but the other thing is Ingle Farm and Simmo have never considered or tried to "Buy a League" the guys that play there play there because they love the club, Very similar to Elizabeth Vale in my opinion!
Fair points LRO and we would like to think that we have been good enough to win the league in one of those 3 years. The year that Vale won the league is probably the year that we felt we had the best chance because as you said, they didn't buy the league to win. I would love to have the spending money that some other clubs do but money doesn't always bring success or happiness. We have a great retention rate with players and we only pay a small amount to players in a system that is fair and equitable. Its nothing against clubs that do spend extra on player payments but were not in a position to do that.

The other years we missed out are our own fault. We had opportunities to win the league and lost crucial games. We did things a little differently this year and it helped a little but still didn't give us the result we were looking for.

I don't believe in window of opportunities as you've only got to look at Gardens, who were almost relegated in 08/09 but picked up 6-8 quality players and won the league. Some of our guys who have been at the club for a while are getting older but they are still contributing a lot also.[/quote]

Which means that Gardens window has only just opened not a bad start

Good luck to Paul, for a newcastle supporter, he's an okay guy lol

This probably confirms Sean Reynolds will also be at Inter, as stated in another thread.

Hey Ginger, what happened to Chris?

I also heard Westerveldt had applied (Or shown interest)

the advert was open for 6 days, I take it from that it was advertised and maybe the club already had someone in mind?

Just read through these posts, what a larf some of you have. Hey Nugget, why did Parafield look for another coach at the end of last season but when they couldn't get one they wanted, they reappointed the current coach? Not enough confidence in him? He did win you 3 trophies or was it the bucks you spent on players that won you those trophies?
