How does the cup round work? Can a player play reserves and then sit on the bench for the seniors (As), or does it depend on whether the reserves win or not?

10.4 Any player having played in a Challenge Cup round shall not be eligible to play in any subsequent Reserve Cup round during that season

10.6 “Played” shall mean that his name has been entered on the team sheets.
The only exception being that of the named reserve goal keeper. Providing he does not enter the field of play he will still be eligible to play in either competition, i.e. Reserve Cup or Challenge Cup.

We usually put their number as 'RGK', refs have never had a problem with that.

they should remove the confusion and make it when you come on your cup tied, whats to stop team naming every sub as a keeper

You could stop confusion by having your clubs coaches read the league's rules and advising their players if need be.

There's nothing to stop you doing that at all. In fact we're naming 5 RGK's for our cup game. I think someone how the league would say stop taking the piss and just cup tie them all.

However, i've also seen a ref cross out all ununsed subs after the game so they weren't cup tied.

I've never heard of any clubs exploiting this and dropping a regular Ressie gk to play a senior gk to win a reserves game or even final.
Yes it could be exploited but never is.
As for players named on the card why are they cup tied if they don't get on??

That's not a bad idea.

I think it's a fair compromise that if a keeper doesn't get on then he's not cup tied. At amateur level it would also be fair to not cup tie someone who doesn't step on the pitch.
