Re: I am not going to play football anymore
fair point ill accept that.
so if i go and speak to some parents and coaches in a year will i hear that things are being run well, the fees are reasonable and being re-invested etc etc
if not then fuck them. if you dont know how to try and run your club properly then get out of the game

You obviously havent been to an AGM of our club and been presented with the club's finances.mike17 wrote:fair point ill accept that.

if not then shiraz them. if you dont know how to try and run your club properly then get out of the game
You would then note that we re-invest a lot of money back into our juniors, to get the best people to be coaching directors or to coach a team. We also re-invest heavily on our club facilities and equipment, and a lot on ground maintenance because of the high level of wear and tear. We have tried to get second pitches but council does not allow lighting on those sites, so with the limited space in the north eastern area that would allow lighting, it is used by other sports.
This notion of supporting the seniors match fees is a myth, well at our club anyway. If that was the case then why would we want to lose these junior players if we wont be able to afford our senior match fees? If you were at our club you would note that our sponsorship efforts actually is covering our senior match fees. We have some very good backers at the club that tip in money to support our club.

It's obvious that mike17 is not at a club and relies solely on Football News to expand his encyclopedic knowledge of how clubs run their affairs.fourthave wrote:This notion of supporting the seniors match fees is a myth, well at our club anyway.
Time for some righteous indignation

It's been happening since the game was invented.Stitch This wrote:Because that's never, ever happened in previous years.doesmyheadin wrote:And yes, attempted poaching of juniors and coaches has already started. One of our good junior A div teams coach has already been approached by a PL club saying bring them over, the writing is on the wall. Disgraceful
Disappointing to hear nevertheless.
Good coaches get approached by bigger clubs, as do players. Some coaches use juniors as an apprenticeship to seniors, just like players. Some coaches just do it to pass the time while little Jonny is in the junior ranks. Amateur league teams often approach these players and coaches also.
Circle of life, which doesn't end after juniors, so get use to it.
Re: I am not going to play football anymore
Many bigger club use juniors as a cash cow and dump them after they have extracted every dollar. White City fees $550.00 some of the bigger clubs $850.00 - $900.00 plus then buy success. $3-400 extra x 250 kids over 5 - 6 years. So where does this cash go? And then the seniors are made up mainly of players from outside their junior programs. Easy answer.The moyesiah wrote:It's been happening since the game was invented.Stitch This wrote:Because that's never, ever happened in previous years.doesmyheadin wrote:And yes, attempted poaching of juniors and coaches has already started. Re: I am not going to play football anymore
It's not a huge difference and people are mistaken;
$550 - what do you get for that?
$785
This includes: Home & Away Playing kits, ball, spray jacket & bag, team photo, trophy, presentation night.
Also, no rosters for parents to run the canteen, mark the lines on the pitches. just this alone is worth $50-$100 for some parents.
$850 - what do you get for that?
$800 - what do you get for that?
The question shouldn't be how much are your fees, the question parents should ask, is what do I get for my money. Generally the clubs are very close on value for what you actually get.

Re: I am not going to play football anymore
Sorry but $300 x 200 junior players is a lot of money. 60K Not bad coin over and above. Blatant profiteering that can get invested into buying senior success so they can hog good juniors, extract their cash as long as possible, to then in turn shun them as seniors and buy in more players. The recent records of some of the bigger clubs in promoting players from within is atrocious.The moyesiah wrote:It's not a huge difference and people are mistaken;

Most clubs/season;
Training = 70 events
Games = 25 events
$6 an event.......
Try your luck at swimming & time zone.....you appear to be stuck in one.

Children who have been at a club for 4-5 years might reasonably expect that loyalty shown back to them as well. There's plenty of examples of late developers who have risen out of junior 'B' grades and made their club's senior team.
Have all issues(for and against) been properly considered in what was originally set up as a discussion paper, or was it a Clayton's consultation?

Just goes to show how unimportant it is what Seniors do when speaking about what's best for the development of Juniors...

Good structure and coaching not where the overpaid seniors sit in the scheme of things.

sounds like the usual political talk. if you get lots of private investment plus 12-14k per team then where is the training for the junior coaches? at all of these clubs? i dont think ive even heard of clubs training their junior coaches - which should be highest priority when it comes to development
and attempting to get good coaching directors and coaches isnt the same as getting them. there are a number of clubs that do this and im sick of it
what has happened in the last 10 years that made the fees jump from around $200 to $800? from what i have seen. the extra 3-400 charged at some clubs gets you no more than the clubs that charge less
ppl pay for a name alot of the time. and most parents are too busy or dont know enough about football that they are getting ripped off
ive watched my younger brothers get screwed year after year by the calibre of coaching at the 10s-14s level. these guys are often those fathers with no real football experience - yet the fees are still the same
and people that stick up for the clubs just because they are affiliated are part of the problem
any club charging over 500 without it being obvious what the extra money gets you are ripping people off, simple as that
and dont give me that AGM shit, im sure it wouldnt be beyond a club to show things in a light that makes them look good
bottom line - are things working? are we producing lots of quality players? is decent football training cheap and accessable to everyone?
NO!!!! THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG!!!! FUCKEN WAKE UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT
and before you say anything i am trying to do my bit. im sorry if you disagree, just calling as i see it. no agenda here - just football and kids
end of rant
