Why would they be? The format is the top 4 of Sat & Sun Premier plus the promoted teams into that Div. Who did win it last year?
Blue Eagles?

Why have Gardens pulled out at the last minute?

i think kilburn and the saasl can be commended on getting an official pre season comp going, food and beers and provided by kilburn, bit of cash up for grabs and its friday so the traditional pre season comps can continue, small pitch isn't really an issue as many players haven't reached fitness yet and im sure it helps them out

In theory this comp is good but perhaps it starts too early. Most teams have only just started training and even though it is just pre season the games are played at a good pace and are very competitive. Teams who have new coaches are at an extra disadvantage. I assume the Gardens are a victim of these circumstances.

We haven't pulled out, we've offered the spot to another team. If they do not take it then we will play our games

Lefty would be pissed if someone tried to do that in the Mayors Cup.

Yeah he would.

Only 1 change and that was Brahma dropping out. Bosna was a forced change due to their suspension.

Only a comment, no need to get jumpy. It's a long season and I've only got 6 more weeks of this so I'm getting in early :)

Yeah I would be if Sid wanted to just pull out but that wasnt the case.

We were invited to play in the cup at last years AGM & now we have a new coach with many new players across all teams & this year we train on Friday nights. I & many have said the Templin Cup timing isnt ideal especially this year for us & you should remember what happen with Bosna last year played the Templin then didnt turn up to play in the Mayors Cup (thats the reason they arent in it & so I gave their spot to Pontian).

It was actually my idea to offer our spot to Modbury Vista as they had 2 preseason games cancelled & as they won it last year were keen to be involved again (I hope they win it). I personally rang Alex & asked permission if it was ok he was a little disappointed Im sure they like to have the bigger clubs playing in their cup. If he said no I really want Gardens in we would be playing in it full stop.

They way I see it everyone wins a prize we get to have our Friday night training sessions (which are going quite well), Modbury Vista get to play some games, SAASL still have a Div 1 club in the Templin and most of all no one is pissed. :D

Now we know your a fibber. Alex wouldn't say something like that

All good mate, we questioned if it was right for us to enter this year and felt it still had some worth for us.

So there should be no dissent heard when clubs pull out of the cup then?

If notice is given its fine. Its when clubs do it on the night before the game that is frustrating

Its no surprise clubs are pulling out of this tournament to be honset.
They are a little bit too late in arranging a preseason tournament.
Go back 3-4 years and there was no mayors cup, elizabeth cup, modbury cup, southern cup etc. It would have been perfect. Its like the SAASL have seen how succesful these preseason tournaments have been and tried to supply one, albeit too late.
They should move the games to a wednesday or thursday night fixture and then people might take it a bit more serious.
If teams are playing on friday night, then saturday/sunday they arent going to get full teams out there anyways. Wednesday/thursday would at least mean a rest before weekend cups.

would that impact the facilities though? kilburn are a footy side and prob train tues thurs, i think it works fine, its really only twice the games double up and then its up to the coaches to rotate the side

i think it may need some tweaking but essentially it works fine

St Peters won 3-1

Not sure of the score from the other game. Vista scored a penalty with the last kick of the game, didn't see any other goals.
