Ah well i guess we are the ones in the poo

This year has been frustrating. After our preseason I would never have thought we would end up where we are now.
Like Gabon and others said its a very very tough league. We dont have the money to throw at players, we dont have (but are trying to get) fantastic links with fed clubs. What we do have is a great squad of players averaging 23years old. We have been out smarted and not necessarily outplayed in a lot of our games and you cant really blame that on dave at all. Being 29 and one of the oldest players (second only to dunty :)) is something, that as a player who has been at the club for a long time, is really positive.

When we put out the advert last year, there was only a small handful of quality applicants. So we have a coach who has worked with these young players and is being given time to mould these youngster hopefully into a div1 quality team.
We have been up and down so many times its not funny. Coaches have come and gone for various reasons. Its time again to try and get some stability again.
that means i must be included with the young lads, nice one thanks :D

if i'm not mistaken we only secured our Div one status last season in the third to last game and it was thanks largely to a good start to the season. Moggy had two good seasons at East in gaining us promotion and then maintaining our div one status and for his own reasons decided not to continue into a third year. considering we lost a number of first team players this season and had a good number of new players as well it was always going to be a rebuilding year. Dave is a very good coach and has a good coaching record and should be shown a bit more respect from people that think because they have watched one or two games this season they know the ins and outs of our club.

Because Bosna was discussed earlier this year,

No money so Kirra, Noll and Doran before that are playing for free?

If you dont have money to pay players you wont survive in Div 1. Case closed!

In all honesty, I would love to buy the best fkn squad money can buy... we would win the Div 1 title... we would have an outrageous wages budget for 1 year... but what would that achieve... in my opinion. it would do more harm than good.

Kirra is/was defintely getting paid well.

Noll I cannot say and Doran defintely was as he follows Beaman around wherever he goes.

I signed before any offer of money was put on the table. Great club to play for, so much so I took the gloves when the other fella left us. Can't speak for Philly or Doz.

Hahaha For blokes who seem to know so much about the ins and outs of our club...you have no idea. From memory Doran only played for us for a handful of games at the very start of the year and as Matty has stated he came to the club to have a kick on the park but put the gloves back on when we were struggling for goalkeepers!!

How can the Para Hills East committee re-appoint Beaman for 2013 ?
A coach who has delivered only 2 wins from 16 starts ?
A coach who has almost relegated the club back to division 2.
Surely the club would atleast advertise the position and see who would be available ?
What makes P.H.E. think 2nd division be easy ?
What happens when the coach fails in division 2 ?
Is this a wind-up or a case of gross mis-management ?

Maybe they think the squad at the coaches disposal wasn't capable of producing any better results factoring in things such as talent, experience, injuries, availabilities etc.

Coaches can't work miracles, if they don't have the cattle on the park it's hard to get results.

Interesting comment considering East are a comfortable 3rd in the ressies with the only teams ahead of them being the same top 2 from the A team table.

This tells me the squad to choose from must be ok and there is some depth to cover injuries.

Is it maybe the coach not picking the right players or persisting with the wrong ones?

Possibly. There's a fair step up between 1st team and ressies especially in Div 1. I've seen a few clubs over the years who's 1sts and ressies didn't seem much different in quality. I've also seen plenty of players that were very good ressies players but just couldn't make the step up to 1st team football.

All I was suggesting is that there are lots of factors to consider when reappointing a coach, looking solely at results, as Magic inparticular seemed to, is very myopic.

Thanks everyone for your concern. It's cute

As for players getting paid.... Good lord let's not go there. No one cares, move on. It's absolute peanuts compared to what others are throwing around. A lot of us actually took a cut to our insignificant 'petrol money' this year due to some sponsors dropping out.

Ressies are a solid, but again, a very very young squad. We would have played easily 20+ different players in the first team. I think i said it before, we have just been outsmarted in too many games. The players would put their hands up taking full responsibility for the situation we find us in. As far as I'm aware there will be one retirement & maybe only 2 moving on. This happens to everyone though every year.

We don't really need to justify anything to anyone really. But always good to have a topic about us :)

That he did for quite a reasonable weekly fee?

Seems quite a few people taking an interest in PHE so lets clarify a couple of things for you all.

Dave has been reappointed for 2013. We have seen enough from some of our performances this season to suggest that our young squad are improving under Dave's coaching. Our aim is to try and get a bit of stability back in the club and chopping and changing coaches every couple of seasons is no way to go about it.

Our players have quite enjoyed working with Dave and there havent really been any complaints about any of his methods. Of course your never going to please every player at a club but no one would say that Dave hasnt given opportunities to players worthy of having a shot at the first team this year.

As to our position in the league. We all agree that its not where we set out to be at the start of the year and for reasons already mentioned on this topic we feel we could have done better. Most teams that have played us would agree that we arent an easy team to beat. Comments made on the match day threads throughout this season from opposition players would back this up.

Ryan Mogg did a fantastic job in getting us promoted to the Premier League and in keeping us in the league last season. We only avoided relegation in the 4th to last game last season and that was due to results going in our favour. Not taking anything away from Ryan as, like i said, he did a great job and it was good to have him as coach for the two seasons as well as a top bloke to have at the club.

Our team for quite a few seasons now has been up and down between the top two div's and it is not easy to maintain Premier status for any team coming up from div 2 as Grove would point out this season.

Relegation is a real possibility but at the moment so is staying in this div. Either way we feel we have a coach in place who is going to help us move in the right direction and players who will have taken a lot on board from this season and should progress from here.

Gawler playing triple figures + in the state league? you'd think they would have finished higher based on that

"Well done to the young East team"
You gave 110% today, & stepped up. Great "TEAM" effort.

Next week is another game, where all need to give their all.

Bad luck to PHE. A good side coached well. No doubt you need a little during the season and maybe you didn't get it early on. No offense to the Grove who were the worse team this year the second that went down was always gonna feel a little unlucky

Thanks to vale who btw have never lost to Pontians for putting up a good contest

Fulham never lied down either some great goals by them today.

Pontians go I to the new year with a new slate and some exciting times ahead

I dont think it will take long before pHe are up in div one anyway

Thanks Karmann, sounds like your game was a belter! And your boys obviously showed the fight that ws missing last game.

We are shattered to say the least but with the squad mainly staying together, look out div 2 is all I can say!!

Did I pick up you are moving on?

Unlucky Monkey Boy, will you be undertaking an end of year review to work out what went wrong?
