Re: Manu Cup 2012 - Results
Well done to the Fulham boys who I think surprised a few people this weekend. A young team up against some very strong opposition and they came out with a positive goal difference, narrowly missing out on a place in the next round. The players showed great heart and did themselves and the club proud.

So pay $250 and you can pay your way out of a suspension ....
Can anyone explain where this $250 goes ?

They lost 4-2 to Campbelltown, won 3-0 against Para Hills then drew 2-2 with Metro. Metro equalised in the last couple of minutes, but admittedly they deserved at least a draw.barney wrote:What were their results?Stretch wrote:Well done to the Fulham boys who I think surprised a few people this weekend. General FFSA revenue. Same thing at every level.Željko Jurin wrote:Can anyone explain where this $250 goes ?
It's usually more of a deterrent to lodging an appeal.
Time for some righteous indignation

Not sure of any other red card incidents, but it seems 3 red card incidents for this group.
Anyone know if the playford keeper appealed?
1/6.... but still 6.

Playford parents passed the hat around but couldn't raise the money in time.black wrote:Good point.Željko Jurin wrote:So pay $250 and you can pay your way out of a suspension ....

Re: Manu Cup 2012 - Results
why are parents/coaches allowed to appeal red cards and pay $250 to get them off??? is this a new fundraising scheme??? will it be allowed during the season??? why can you appeal serious foul play and violent conduct but not denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity?? surely a red card from the ref should be an automatic 1 game suspension, appealing should be to reduce 2 or more game suspensions??? maybe playford parents believed that their keeper deserved 2 games Barney?? how do kids learn from their mistakes if the rich sugar daddy pays their fines??
things happen for a reason
Re: Manu Cup 2012 - Results
a bit embarrassing referee gives red card, affects outcome of game FFSA accepts money for revue & find in favour of player does this mean that the referee was wrong so shouldn't the referee be stood down from the tournament, until they pay for a FFSA revue :?
I do not know which makes a man more conservative—to know nothing but the present, or nothing but the past.

Well said Barney but I am sure I saw just as many BMWs Merceedes Calais and other new cars carry Playford kids as any other team so I dont think money was the issue may be they just have more morales than some other people in this system and agreed with the refs decision and decided the player needs to learn from his actions and hopefully will not do it again obviously unlike some others.
Re: Manu Cup 2012 - Results
there was no hearing, it will be next week, if the player doesnt win the appeal he will serve the suspension during the season (this is what i was told from someone in the federation) the referee saw the incident and ran over to the linesman to find out what exactly happened before the incident....
in regards to playford keeper, u wouldnt ever bother to appeal that....
white city's red card deffenitely wasnt a hand ball, the playford players didnt even scream for a hand ball....i heard someone showed the inspector the video of what happened and it clearly hit his chest.... white city couldve easily appealed and wouldve won easily.
thats how the game is and players at this age need to learn that this game can be cruel at times.....i believe its all part of their development.....

Keeper was judged to have moved off his line.wiseoldman wrote:why were the 2 penalties retaken?
Both were saved but then converted when re taken
Great effort by the boys to get so far though.

Re: Manu Cup 2012 - Results
well done to birkalla, just goes to show with the great d mori as coach (playing his own formation instead of 4 3 3 like most of the other clubs instucted by the ffsa) and the prodigies son, the easy group, and the retaking of two penalities in the semi finals, with everything in its favour, birkalla have again proven that ac are`nt the only club producing decent juniors, hopefully this re-enforces to all other parents out there that your kids dont have to play at ac to develop into good players, plenty other clubs also producing and playing great football.
Re: Manu Cup 2012 - Results
im assuming you dont like adelaide city...
both clubs came out of easy groups if you really wanna make comparisons.... there was no way that any team out of group 1 or 2 were going to have enough in their legs to go all the way after their group draws....
congratulations to birkalla on the tough win, all the best in melbourne....

wow, I see you found your axe?
Here's me thinking this weekend was about the kids....
A simple well done to Birks for playing some good football.
Birks played to win and wanted it more. Simple.
Had nothing to do with AC or the coach, who changed formations through out the game to no avail, his son, the FFSA 433 system, or the easy groups purchased by AC as suggested.
Birk kids played great and deserved the win.
Good luck in Melbourne boys..

I would really love to see the number of juniors from U9 that were infact developed by a club, vs the ones recruited from other clubs at U13/14/15.
Not really fair to claim development for a player in U15 if they were from other clubs at U13 or 14, how many kids in both teams were long term projects?
