How many times do we have to debate this. Although to say that the CSL would challenge for the Sunday Div 1 title is a stretch.

In my Opinion, the Top 6 Amatuer sides would be (in no particular order)

Adelaide Villa
Parafield Gardens
Pontian Eagles
Elizabeth Downs
Bosa
St Peters

I've kept Ingle Farm out due to bias. 5 of those sides have been at the top of the tree for the last 3-5. Hard to see many CSL sides get close to them but it would be interesting to see a proper cup game involving them. It will never happen though as they joined the FFSA.

Jay you seem to have a lot of respect for the Pontians. Good to see.

Oh well we will never know until we play each other. Good luck to both leagues and all that play the game. Maybe I should coach a sun day team as well and make my own mind up.

Results speak for themselves. They were very good this year and finished Top 3 and had every chance to be top 2 or champion. Good cup run only to be knock out in extra time by the winner. Backing it up this year will be tough but I think you guys turned an important corner last year.

Congrats to Immanuel on the appointment of a new coach. Hope to see you back in Div 1 in 2013!

Each year we (Uni Blacks Amateur League) have been playing a pre-season game against Uni Whites Collegiate side. We have decided to cease playing this game as it is considered detrimental to our preparations for the season due to the non competitive nature of the match. We win convincingly each year, fielding a weakened side, and feel we get very little benefit from the game, so we have decided to play tougher opposition next year. This year, Uni Whites finished 3rd in Div 1 Collegiate League and we only played Div 2 Saturday Amateurs.
Sorry for replying to an old / off-topic post but... "non-competitive"? Seriously? In the past two years you have beaten the Whites 2-0 and 5-3. Surely a non-competitive match would have seen you run out 4-0... 6-0 ? Did you get so bored this year that you scored 3 own goals?

Our 1st and 2nd XI also played trials against Elizabeth Downs (Sun Div 1) last year - both were 3-1 losses. Not spectacular results, but good luck putting your Div 3 side up against us next year.
That's it!

In the 2-0 game we predominately played a second string side and still spent most of the game camped in your half + it was a 2x30 min half game as well.

The game this year we were 4-1 up at half time and subbed off half our team at half time.

Maybe your idea of competitive and ours are a lot different.

Oh well it's been a good thread and opinions. I'm sure some teams will play each other. I will organize a trial with a similar team just to see where we are at.

You don't think the Travis Brothers or Chris McNichol are in the best players that South have had in their history?

Fair points to be honest more quality than I thought. We used to play them every preseason but haven't for a year or two looks like they have improved
