I laugh every time I see you two get worked up over people using the word soccer. Surely, being the knowledgable souls you are, you both know where the word comes from; it's not an Americanism or an Australianism and I can remember kids and adults and school teachers using the word as a nickname or pet name for the game when I grew up in England, and noticed some casuals also use the term when I returned for a few years.Celebrity Linesman wrote:Agree

Thanks to Villa for 2 good games yesterday, both where it looked as though each team had a chance to win the game at half time, but in both games Villa finished stronger and just ran over the top of the Jets for deserved wins. Cheers lads, see you in a few weeks at Ladywood.Chivas wrote:Adelaide Vila V Jets

I have to say I knew it was coined in England (actually I can't argue with any of your post but I still hate that word).Rhino wrote:I laugh every time I see you two get worked up over people using the word soccer. i can't agree with the people using it in England though, everybody over there I know calls it football. One bloke called it footy in the pub at christmas and got mugged off by everyone.Bodø Glimt wrote:I have to say I knew it was coined in England (actually I can't argue with any of your post but I still hate that word).Rhino wrote:I laugh every time I see you two get worked up over people using the word soccer. Cheers to you and your lads also mate. Was getting a bit worried there after 60 mins but our boys kept pressing and finally we got our reward. Great fighting effort from your young lads that pushed us all the way. Thanks to the Modbury supporters also for the bit of banter on the sidelines...very nice to have a laugh without getting carried away, and for the support at the BBQ etc. Good luck for the rest of the year.Rhino wrote:Thanks to Villa for 2 good games yesterday, both where it looked as though each team had a chance to win the game at half time, but in both games Villa finished stronger and just ran over the top of the Jets for deserved wins. Sat Prem
A: Vipers FC 2 Stirling 0
B: Vipers FC 5 Stirling 2
C: Vipers FC 5 Stirling 1
Scorers
(A) Matsouliadis, Kresovic
(B) Tsekinis (3), Ganiaris (1), Koncewicz (1)
(C) Geladaris (3), Matteo (1), Romeo (1)
Well done Vipers! What a day for the club - three wins, first win for the A's, and the comeback of Jaric - well done!
Stirling were in the game the entire time. It wasn't until the wedding photos on the other side of the pitch were being taken (a Vipers wedding!) that Vipers took the lead, and then they managed to seal it with a penalty midway through the second. Stirling looked a bit late to react to being two goals down in my opinion, they had the thrust but not the conviction.
Let this be the first of many Vipers!

I told Kolaboras to check the wedding photos becasuse they've probably got the goal in one of them.Lucas Leiva wrote:It wasn't until the wedding photos on the other side of the pitch were being taken (a Vipers wedding!) that Vipers took the lead

Doc said acl but scans this week will confirm. Possible medial damage as well. Only his third game for us as well. Pretty bad timing for the guy, only just moved to Adelaide but these things happen. We seem to be struggling to keep our players on the field this yeah. 3 serious injuries already!!!Centre Stage wrote:A's MA Hawks 2 Gleeson 0

C's Ma Hawks 1 Torrens Valley 2
The A's was a bit of a scrappy game watching from the sidelines. Our best wishes go out to the Gleeson player who went down in agony after what seemed to be a knee injury. Hopefully it wasn't an ACL. If a Gleeson member gets a chance, let us know how he's going. You never want to see someone go down like that in any sport.

I arrived at the game late ( go there to watch occasionally as I live nearby ) talking to a couple of the Flinders boys, they were saying that the Ref's Assoc. had sent out one referee to do the div 3As + div 4As ? thinking they were at different times, apparently the Flinders guy who regularly refs the div 4 B (3) - hope I got it right-ended up ref of the div 4As game instead, the guy who did end doing the 4Bs game between Flinders and Iggies (whatever numbers they were ? ) came in at the last minute, was only his first game.....apparently.Hawkesy wrote:Kitchimo wrote:B: Flinders (3) 3-3 OISC (2)
Apparently we were lucky to draw in the Flinders game
ref was very poor from the reports I am hearing, and too think we have to get him twice this season.
my point....everyone deserves a second chance.

That's against SAASL rules which say if an official referee does not show up for a A team fixture the game will not be played. The General wrote:apparently the Flinders guy who regularly refs the div 4 B (3) - hope I got it right-ended up ref of the div 4As game instead

Re: Results Saturday 15th May
Yes the SAASL and the Refs association let us down and we had to find an extra ref for the day. It was his first game in charge and yes he got some things wrong but both teams had chances to win and a draw was a fair result. As we have just had a load of players register as club refs the chances of this particular player reffing the game against Iggies next time is remote! Give the guy a break at least he stepped up to do the job in the first place. Would I have liked an association ref with years of experience, of course we would but this is the Amateur League and you take what you have got home or away. The General wrote:I arrived at the game late ( go there to watch occasionally as I live nearby ) talking to a couple of the Flinders boys, they were saying that the Ref's Assoc. had sent out one referee to do the div 3As + div 4As ? thinking they were at different times, apparently the Flinders guy who regularly refs the div 4 B (3) - hope I got it right-ended up ref of the div 4As game instead, the guy who did end doing the 4Bs game between Flinders and Iggies (whatever numbers they were ? ) came in at the last minute, was only his first game.....apparently.Hawkesy wrote:Kitchimo wrote:B: Flinders (3) 3-3 OISC (2)

The SAASL were informed of this problem on Friday afternoon when we became aware of it and said they would try to find us a ref for the game (4A) but didn't hold out much hope that we would get one and that if that was the case we were to provide one!Bodo Glimt wrote: That's against SAASL rules which say if an official referee does not show up for a A team fixture the game will not be played.

And further on from that, the visiting team in div4A fixture had just driven two hours to be there,I reckon they were just keen to play the games, whoever "reffed"
