Re: Fixtures?
Teams that were in the "D" division, and have only 1 team, will be going to the "C"comp, so they wont be playing each otherHollygirl wrote:There has been no mention of the downside to some existing "D" sides who are potentially going to be slaughtered by some of these strong teams...as an example the Para Hills "B" team in the Under 15's last year would have destroyed any teams in a lower division. This does not benefit any team that is in a lower division already...I would hazard a guess that these players are not going to suddenly jump over to Beverley or Toros! I assume given most age groups only go to a "c" grade that these teams will slot in there to create a nightmare for coaches looking to build skill and confidence in the lower grades...no win for any of the kids here!!
The teams in the "D" comp will be the 2nd teams from clubs that have 2 teams in that age group, so in the end, it will be made up of AC 2nds, PH 2nds, Metro 2nds, C'town 2nds, Croydon 2nds, etc..... a very stong division anyway
So in other words, the D comp will probably be stronger then the C comp, but does it really matter, it's just the "name" of the division that is changing ?? (if you are a 2nd team, and finished 1st-3rd in the B div, you couldnt get promoted anyway, so what's the difference now?)
Do you actually think that the C and B comp might be a bit more even now, seeing alot of "2nd" teams at big clubs were very strong as well, so they were pumping the lower, smaller clubs anyway
I think it will actually EVEN out the whole comp over 4 Divisions, which is what the FFSA should be about, not just about the "big" clubs
Why not look at the divisions as A1, B1, C1, and A2, does that look and sound better now ??

That's a fair call Zel and over time, once the current crop of second team players have gone through the system, it will be accepted as the 'norm' and nobody will worry about it. Kids will make their choices knowing that it's the system.
I do feel a bit for those current seconds players, most of whom would be easily good enough for a first team runout elsewhere, who have had the goalsposts moved on them and are sort of shunted off to a little comp between themselves. On the positive side, they should at least end up playing against other seconds teams of similar abilities. You don't learn bugger all spanking teams 10-0 every week.
