You just don't look hard enough. I'm still not sure how you missed the tent across the way with the BBQ in it. We're not going to set up on your doorstep just to please you. You should have been able to mell it from your side. God knows it was distracting on the pitch.jets no.7 wrote:

I must say after seeing the Bosa V Wanderers game on the weekend I think a name change is in order.
Adelaide Wanderers - Adelaide Whingers.
Great game though, very entertaining and great heart from Bosa to win when down to 10 men.

Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
Pity the Div 1 reserves table is wrong on the SAASL website. They got the stirling-sturt score the wrong way around. Would be a much more open league if that was true!
Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
To both stick up and put down Jets. I have been to adelaide uni on a number of occassions and they've had nothing set up. That said, jets have just about always had a section of their support bringing their own drinks. A few that don't as well though, town crier supportedr our bbq very well all on his own last year.jets no.7 wrote:of course we're going to bring our own drinks, every time we've been at your club in the past there has been nothing set up, what else were we going to expect? all I was trying to say is it's a bit disappointing that there's nothing like that set up.

Here we go again, I don't know what game you were watching mate but as a player in the match I thought the game was played in pretty good spirits from both clubs - would've been excellent for the neutral!!LUFC wrote:I must say after seeing the Bosa V Wanderers game on the weekend I think a name change is in order.

You'd be pretty hard pressed to find any club that doesn't ark up when one of their players is tackled in an over zealous manner and as if you guys didn't whinge at all - does your keeper being sent off with a few minutes to go ring a bell???
Any player taken out in the box unfairly by the last man, be it keeper or player is a straight red my friend in any league including ours - can't whinge about that, but you did!
Bosa/Wanderers matches are always played with a high intensity and this one was no different, congrats to the bloke who scored the winner - a great strike aided slightly by the sun.

Have to agree there, the game was played in the best spirit i have seen a BOSA vs Wanderers game played in, it was hard and intense, a quality game of football.Fresh Football wrote:Here we go again, I don't know what game you were watching mate but as a player in the match I thought the game was played in pretty good spirits from both clubs - would've been excellent for the neutral!!LUFC wrote:I must say after seeing the Bosa V Wanderers game on the weekend I think a name change is in order.

Can't agree on the penalty though, i think you'll find the rule is if the keeper makes a genuine attempt at the ball it can still be a penalty without the send off. The ref afterwards stated that the keeper chopped the player, which anybody who saw the incident (including your coach) knows is incorrect. Unfortunately just adds to the list of problems we have had with that particular ref, not sure where we upset him in the past.
All in all though, an excellent contest.
Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
That's certainly the way it should be but I think the refs seem to take the view that it's red every time. Our keeper was sent off in the first St Peters-Wanderers game last season for what sounds like a similar incident, there was no intent to bring the player down but the ref didn't hesitate in sending him off. It's ridiculous for keepers to be put in a position where if they commit a foul they are going to be sent off.theassistant wrote: Have to agree there, the game was played in the best spirit i have seen a BOSA vs Wanderers game played in, it was hard and intense, a quality game of football.

Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
Not quite and intent does not apply either. The severity of the challenge is always a consideration, i.e. was it careless, reckless, or execssive force used? If it was careless then a free kick should be awarded. If it was reckless then a caution should also be issued. If excessive force was used then the offending player should be sent-off.Far King wrote:That's certainly the way it should be but I think the refs seem to take the view that it's red every time. Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
Maybe someone who's completed a ref course can confirm the legality of intent, but even if a player didn't intend to chop the player - they can still chop the player with a late or clumsy challenge. no replays in SAASL, so have to go with the refs decision on this one. Look forward to the re-match at Veneto!Far King wrote:That's certainly the way it should be but I think the refs seem to take the view that it's red every time. Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
If goalkeeper contacted the player before the ball = foul (usually a free kick, usually a penalty in the box)
If goalkeeper was last man = send off!
Not sure it what else it is. Please correct me.

Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 02/05/09
This actually did happen in the A's game. Two clear fouls when attacking player got brought down by last defender.
But in all cases you just have to keep playing because you can never change a ref's mind. If anything your appeals would lead to cautions and even send offs. Just use the quote of playing against 12 players each week and hopefully it will work. We should be happy to have refs to start off with, but in all honesty the quality is really lacking.

should normally go their way, However,
BULLSHIT
As a keeper, I can recall a couple of incidents where i have been crunched in the air by a charging forward and see the
ball spill into the net.
End result = goal stands.
Personally, I will not hesitate from here on in to smash any forward coming into my area
P.s I have no sour grapes issues, but am at times questioning this interpretation of referees decisions. Consistancy does not exist in these cases.

keepers get too much protection as it is, even breathe on them and they get the foul yet they come claiming balls with their knees up.

I've been punched in the head by the keeper after I've headed the ball and had the foulcalled against me......that one still confuses me.
Keepers are way over protected by some refs and then some other refs seem to be the polar opposite. Rare to find one in the middle ground. Having said that, as long as their consistant in their intepretation I don't care.

It's how every good keeper is coached. It's called protecting yourself. If you don't do it you get clattered, being unprotected with your arms above your head. It's going to do damage.Bacon8 wrote:This is how I'm coachedHawkesy wrote: keepers get too much protection as it is, even breathe on them and they get the foul yet they come claiming balls with their knees up.
You aren't even allowed to hit someone airborne in Union, why should you in soccer.

Also recall former Downs team mate George Reeves (then with Inter) grabbing me and pulling me down on top of him to earn a penalty ?
I remember playing in a cup game against Hindmarsh BP (Budapest) and one of their forwards kept standing in front of me (when they were allowed to) I told him if he kept doing it I would kick him.
He came back, I did a drop kick and followed through and connected with his hamstring.....he went down in a screaming heap and the referee ran toward me ( I though I was a goner) then the referee shows a card to the forward on the ground and warns him not to do it again......go figure ?
It is also quite difficult to gain much height with a jump without raising one of your knees, it's part of the normal action for footballers.
