Re: PAOK Thessaloniki FC 08/09
Ithink he is yes. i like Bosnians
is that a problem??
I could have had a great player from Italian clubs like Pablo Garcia from AC Milan or Conceicao from Inter and Lazio or Bakayoko from Livorno when they were good.
but i chose Muslimovic because he is my favourite player who is playing at this time. Vryzas is my all time favourite but Muslimovic is now for playing still.
Muslimovic is good, not everyone can score a hat trick against Croatia like he did and not everyone can carry Bosnia froma bottom team like they were at start of euro qualifiers losing 4-0 to Greece then only losing 3-2 to Greece and beating Turkey 3-2 with muslimovic scoring most of their goals. He is the best striker from Bosnia. why you hate him for that? lol
your a joke man. what country do you support ?

please never use Livorno and good in the same sentence, unless you are saying "it was good to see Di Canio giving those bitches a roman salute".Muslimovic wrote:Livorno when they were good.
they had one good season (which indirectly caused Donadoni to get the national job) and that's it. now they are only one step away from where they belong, rotting in Serie C with Pescara.

sorry bud, I can only find myself following Lazio, and there's also the small problem of me not speaking a word of greek besides malaka and skatapablo_g4rcia wrote: will you start following PAOK throughout next season because we have Sergio?

BUT good luck to your boys with the league, hope you make CL at least.
Matuzalem needs time to settle into things at Lazio. Hopefully has a good year and stays on.

Re: PAOK Thessaloniki FC 08/09
The Rebirth Of PAOK
It is the sleeping giant of Greek football and the symbol of a rich and complex history of the people of both Greece and Asia Minor. PAOK Thessaloniki is much more than a football club; it is an ideal. It is perhaps the one club capable of breaking the Athenian dominance of Greek domestic football - as it has done before - and for that reason, if any, it is a club whose success is fundamental to the existence of football in Greece.
Once upon a time, the dream of an ‘outsider’ truly challenging the perpetual monopolisation of the ‘big three’ – AEK, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos – seemed within reach. A fanatical fan-base, the capacity to attract and produce some of the finest players and a home that was the equivalent to a concrete version of hell. At PAOK’s height, the Toumba Stadium was one of the most feared venues in both domestic and European football. Europe’s football aristocracy had traditionally struggled in Thessaloniki and not so long ago, it was virtually impossible for even the Athens clubs to come away from the north with a positive result.
The fall of PAOK has been an ungracious one, which probably had less to do with happenings on the football pitch than problems of it. Hooliganism was arguably the catalyst for PAOK’s decline at the beginning of the 1990s, impacting particularly on board-room stability, with the problem eventually manifesting itself in the form of financial insecurity and the inevitable impact on the football itself. Like a wounded animal, the club occasionally struck out at its hated Athenian rivals but nothing substantial or consistent enough to destabilize their dominance, particularly that of Olympiakos.
However, the arrival of club favourite and Euro 2004 winning captain Theodoros Zagorakis may just have heralded a new era for the Dikefalos tou Vorra (Double-Headed Eagle of the North). Former player Zagorakis has now stepped in as the club’s administrative leader, delivering an element of stability to a club crippled by financial burden. Perhaps Zaograkis’ greatest contribution has been on the pitch, where the appointment of fellow Euro 2004 and PAOK team-mate Zisis Vryzas as technical director has coincided with a shrewd and highly successful summer recruitment drive.
This on-pitch resurgence began with the appointment of former Benfica manager Fernando Santos last season. Whilst the Athenian clubs, particularly Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, have opted for coaches of a more illustrious reputation and pedigree, Zagorakis has made one of the most sensible coaching appointments in the recent history of Greek football. What makes Santos so perfect for PAOK is that he performed miracles when faced with a similar situation at a chaotic AEK only a few years ago – Champions League qualification followed.
Is qualification for Europe’s premier domestic competition a realistic possibility for Santos and co this season? Probably not, given Greece’s relatively low co-efficient ranking and the resulting limit to the amount of clubs allowed to enter into the Champions League – they would realistically need to come at least 2nd to have any chance of qualifying, highly unlikely given the grandiose summer recruitment of the Athenians.
To put the magnitude of the task facing Zagorakis into perspective, the breaking of the capital city’s football dominance by the Thessaloniki outfit is equivalent to the attempts of Tottenham to disrupt the stranglehold of Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United on the top four positions on the English Premier League ladder. If PAOK were to make such an ambitious attempt – and if it were to fail – the club might spiral into an unrecoverable financial position.
Realistically, qualification for the UEFA Cup and the establishment of PAOK as Thessaloniki’s powerhouse club once again, should be the target. This would involve asserting dominance over local rivals Aris – who themselves have enjoyed success in recent times – and overcoming the likes of Panionios and Larissa for the mantle of the best team in Greece outside of the ‘big three’. Judging by the calibre and financial viability of player recruitment during this off-season, both of these tasks are realistic, at least by the end of next season. An initial return to Europe will perhaps have more symbolic than practical significance for PAOK – it will truly signal the revival of this former Greek powerhouse.
Complacency this season must be avoided at all costs however. Santos has a squad of undoubted quality and international pedigree – the likes of Zlatan Muslimovic, Pablo Garcia, Vladimir Ivic, Konstantinos Chalkias, Vasilis Lakis, Sergio Conceicao, Ibrahima Bakayoko and Pablo Contreras should form the back-bone of what is expected to be a competitive side. Perhaps one of the most important short-term tasks for Santos will be transform the Toumba into the football fortress that it once was. The image of PAOK fans packing away banners out of disgust during their side’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of AEK Athens last season is not the manner in which the club can afford to depict itself again. It gives this season’s second-round meeting with the Dikefalos Aetos added significance.
What PAOK now have – for the first time in a long time – is a trio of football-savvy, modern and youthful leaders at the helm of the club. And whilst the financial recovery of PAOK is most likely a long-term process which requires the most delicate treatment by Zagorakis, for the time being, the reprieve offered by a football renaissance in the north should ease the transition of the club into a new era.

Re: PAOK Thessaloniki FC 08/09
PAOK Triumph At Toumba
PAOK made a triumphant return to their pre-season preparations just days after crowd violence marred their friendly match against Panserraikos and forced the game to be abandoned. This time, however, at a packed Toumba stadium in Thessaloniki, Fernando Santos’ men were spurred on by a typically partisan following to a 3-1 victory over Serie A side Udinese.
The Greek outfit, who have recruited impressively during the summer, took the lead through new recruit Zlatan Muslimovic before Di Natale equalised minutes later. Second-half goals from Athanasiadis and former AEK Athens player Vassilis Lakis were enough to give the Double-Headed Eagle of the North a morale boosting pre-season victory.
The breakthrough for PAOK arrived after just 13 minutes, when two of the clubs’ summer signings combined. Serbian international Vladimir Ivic – who played for Thessaloniki rivals Aris last season – produced an intelligent through-ball for former Atalanta man Muslimovic after he made an incisive run across the Udinese defence. Allowing the ball to run into the box, the Bosnia and Herzegovina star produced a sharp first-time strike which beat goalkeeper Handanovic at his near-post.
The Italians took just six minutes to fashion a response in the most bizarre circumstances. Greek international goalkeeper Constantinos Chalkias – another new recruit who left Aris in the summer – raced well out of his penalty area to head the ball away from danger, only to see the ball booted high and back into his penalty area. The ‘keeper was forced to back-track into his own box, and he followed the high ball intently as it came back down. It seemed as though Chalkias would make a comfortable save but the ball popped out of his gloves and fell to the grateful Di Natale, who from close range produced a sharp finish to level the scores.
PAOK regained the lead after 56 minutes courtesy of a wonderful team move. The ball was pushed to the left-hand side of the pitch before being brought back into the centre through some sharp passing movement. It arrived at the feet of newly arrived Ivory Coast striker Ibrahim Bakayoko and the former Everton player drew the attention of three Udinese defenders before slipping the ball to Georgiou on the left-hand side of the penalty area. The 19-year-old squared the ball across the face of goal, providing the easiest of opportunities for Athanasiadis, who finished from point-blank range.
The third goal for the home side arrived two minutes later, as the Greeks capitalised on a mistake at the back by their Serie A opponents. Georgiou was again at the heart of the goal, as he helped win the ball in the Udinese half, racing away with down the left-hand flank before playing a perfectly weighted through-ball to the unmarked Lakis, who from just inside the penalty area produced a clinical side-footed finish to make it 3-1 and seal an impressive result for Fernando Santos’ side.
Line-ups
PAOK: Chalkias, Konstantinidis (Georgiou 45’), Arambatzis (Sznaucner 45’), Contreras, Conceicao (Lakis 45’), Darlas (Vieirinha 64’), Veron (Iliadis 45’), Balafas, Ivic (Bakayoko 45’), Malezas, Muslimovic (Athanasiadis 30’, Anastasakos 64’)
Udinese: Handanovic, Pasquale, Nef, D’Agostino, Morero, Lukovic, Pepe, Inler, Sanchez, Di Natale, Quagliarella

dont get me wrong man i like Olympiakos. but i am not an admirer of their fans. You are cool and i have much respect for people who dont just go on forums to talk $hit like the guy named Olympiakos.
I like the team and want them to win whenever i see them in CL's i think Greeks should forget their differences and help eachother. less we forget the great macedonian empire that ruled the world. we ended up losing that because we didnt stick together.

wat ddo they teach u at skools these days... that is not why the macedonian empire fell u retardpablo_g4rcia wrote:cool
dont get me wrong man i like Olympiakos. but i am not an admirer of their fans.
