Thank you to the Noarlunga team manager and Coaches who made us feel welcome today down South.
Thank you to both sets of players who played the game in great spirit and left nothing in the gas tank at the end of the match. Good game to watch too (even though we lost)
Thank you to the referee who completely ruined an otherwise pleasant day at Wilf Taylor Reserve. Whoever you are, you need to have a long hard look in the mirror at your performance as you were very, very poor. Your decision making from simple things like checking with the linesman for throw ins to more serious errors like sending a player off who only said "you're kidding me right?" after receiving a yellow, leaves a lot to be desired.

This is not a whinge about losing...we accept that and we move on. I do not give a toss anymore about holding back about referees. They should not be allowed to continually change the course of games with decisions that have no reasoning behind them. We have had some really good refs this year but we have also had some that are the worst I have seen. And I will be the first to admit that we have been the beneficiary of some poor decisions too.

I suppose someone is going to come on here and tell me to do it myself if I thought I could do a better job. Fair comment if that's the case. All I am asking for is some consistency. Maybe if all referees were crap we could accept it a little more.

Thanks again to Noarlunga for their hospitality. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Thanks to all the nourlunga lads for showing their respect towards us after the game. :)

14b Gawler 4 Pirates 0

Gawler totally dominated first half, moved ball around beautifully and unlucky not to score in the second half.

Thanks for the scores guys :)

Good win for Gawler. Metros have been up and down like yo-yos all season, but to only go down by one to Para Hills seems to be a pretty good effort ?

Para Hills U14B 1-0 Metrostars

Para Hills came away with the win but it was a poor performance, metrostars played well and deserved a point.

Am sure the lads will bounce back and it could be the kick up the back side they need, very hard to maintan form when you are at the top of the table for so long.

Great to play on the main!

To be fair Mattie coaches are already open slather for a bagging when things don't go right both on here and on the sidelines...is it right? Maybe not but bad coaching decisions whether its moves or players are bagged on here....in fact Rabbit has copped it more than once....
It is a tough gig being a ref....I have watched what my son has to put up with at primary school soccer....it is always hard to keep everyone happy....we have had some good refs this year and I have been just as happy to post a positive comment as when we have had a bad ref....unfortunately as Rabbit has said when it gets to a point that it changes the course of the game it is a problem...

The unfortunate thing is that Rabbit is not complaining about 1 decision. I watched a game on Sunday played in good spirit despite the fact that the ref made mistake after mistake.
If you were to look at the match sheet and see 2 send offs and 5 yellows you would of thought the game was a blood bath but it was purely the meglomania shown by a ref who went about his job ALL wrong.
Congrats to both teams for the way they continued to play football despite the knuckle with the whistle.

did you think before making these comments on a public forum that you might have that ref again later in the year.

go down the right channel and get your club to make and official complaint if it was that bad. you should see if you can appeal to the decision.

but writing it on this forum could be a mistake to you and your team.

im not saying the ref will give every decision against you for your comments, but he may not do you any favours.

such as a player does not have correct gear, players card, you dont have a linsemen and so on and so on.......

without a ref there is no game and if there is no game all the lads cannot play. in your eyes he made a mistake in someone elses he didnt. if every1 put something on the forum every time they felt a bad decision was made where would it stop....

so public bagging a ref on a forum i feel is not a smart thing to do

thats just my views

That can be part of the problem....some referees seem to like to get far too involved....the reality is that while there may be no games for points without a referee I did a referee course some years ago and one thing the trainer said is that you don't need to have a referee for kids to go out and play a game....in fact you will find that if you throw a group of kids and a ball on a ground they will generally self referee pretty fairly.

Kids of the age that Rabbit is coaching tend to know what is fair and what is not....therefore they do get frustrated when the ref seems to make blatent "mistakes"....instead of keeping a cap on things realising that 14 yo boys have all this testosterone around that they haven't yet learnt to control the ref gets card happy and hands out yellows and reds for talk when he has let studs up tackles go....

there was a study recently done in victoria, i will try to find it, about junior football (soccer).

It stated that a Referee (a Human Being) on average made about 5-10 errors in a match. These errors could include positioning on the field, free kicks they missed or called.

A team of Under 14 players (Human Beings) made on avergae 70-80 errors in a match. These errors included out of position, bad passes, poor tackles, poor shots, to name a few.

In the end of the day, referees are made to look like the bad ones, but have teams actually looked at their own performances and thought about concentrating on their own errors rather then worrying about the match official?

Absolutely, yes. Our results determine what we do on the training track the following week. Theirs don't. Maybe we should approach referees at the end of the game and tell them where and when they went wrong....I don't think that would be allowed do you? Enough said from me.

Well said Rabbit.

Brian32, you've brought up an interesting albeit unrelated (players - Refs) point. The Ref (Human Being) is one person while a team of Under 14 may compose of 15 Players (Human Beings), which averages out to approx. 5 errors per Player. And what number of forced errors (i.e. pressure from the opposition) would you like to narrow it down to? Which would lessen the errors per Player again. Whereas the Ref wouldn't have forced errors.... And then there is the age difference (between Ref and Player), energy expended before the player commits the error (a lot less for the Ref, so should be fewer errors).... I could go on.

Again, well said Rabbit.

:clown: anyone that knows the game should know that no two people on opposite sides se ethe same thing, they should also know that its part of the game - sometimes decisions go your way sometimes they don't  get on with it & play the game, don't come onhear & have a sook  especially if you're a junior coach that should lead by example

You have to take the rough with the smooth. We have had good ref's and we have had bad but normally the bad refs are consistently bad through out the game for both sides. It is a hard job to do and as long as they are not favoring one side we have to live with it. We would be in a bad way if we had no refs and it was left down to the home sides parents to ref!!!!!
