Re: Villa will take out Div 2.
Hi Folks,
The Cove is about 30-40mins south of the city along the Longsdale Highway - as described by a previous subscriber (top points) - or use Google. Any further info req'd use the contact number listed online with SAASL or in the Yearbook.
Concerning other comments about the behaviour of Clubs… on a personal note I believe all passionate clubs are similar (in our demographics/attitude/behaviour etc)....
- We all enjoy an afternoon out supporting our teams, telling those on the park how to play or highlighting the mistakes of the opposition (irrespective of colour, nationality or religion) not to mention the (Club) Ref - who can do a great job and one that generally no-one else wants to fill.
- As Australians we welcome diversity and embrace all nationalities. Any variance, bring to the attention of a Club Marshall.
- Different club, different accents (we do have a mix - honest), but that shouldn't make a difference to the way any of us interact/behave with the 'opposition'. Australia's has a history of migration, from an increasingly diversity of countries.
- Whatever is said by fans (of any team) is almost, almost always directed onto the park (and I know players mostly 'zone-out' to off-the park comments).....while not an excuse, from knowing the people involved I believe anything said by Cove supporters is 100% said in 'jest' / heat of the moment / tongue in cheek / a throw away comment…..and no worse than experienced on the terraces of any football match
- At times I do 'cringe' at comments made by my colleagues.... but generally to the same degree as I 'titter' when I hear similar from opposition players/supporters.
Please note, all SAASL clubs are obliged to comply with the 'Fair Play/Conduct' initiative. If I personally hear anything that I believe 'steps over the line', I try to have a quiet word with the party concerned..... though I must admit I hear more of "a snag with onions" or "steak sandwich with the lot" rather than anything else.
If you want to have a friendly chat, a smile in the crowd or give feedback info about this posting, come & introduce yourself at the Cove (I have no real love of on-line communication) ..... I'm generally behind the BBQ for the 1st part of the C's and 3/4 of the A's (after having taken up space on the pitch for the Bs).
Oh yeah.... the above is not a confessional or such like.... more an opportunity to welcome other clubs & players to the Cove. Enjoy your afternoon, buy something from the BBQ, quench your thirst with a beverage from the bar.... and support your chosen team.
BTW - personally, I welcome constructive feedback to me in person at the Cove when you visit here - this means at least I am aware of The Cove's public status (as viewed by other clubs)... plus there is the opportunity for us to be mindful of any sensitivities of guest clubs (while hopefully still whipping arses on the pitch for 3pts - fingers crossed).
Keep smiling, everyone is welcome at The Cove.... may your teams & supporters enjoy your season (whatever the result).

If he was at Cougars last season I'd have seen him play against the African Allstars at Cowandilla.Jack Mehorf wrote:Hey Bodø, to add a little more spice to your pizza for the afternoon get this.....
Our first team keeper Mr Govilla played at Cougers for the last 8 years or so..........till I enticed him over and relinquished my first team spot to play and coach the reserves.
We have at least 4 ex Cougers players in our squads....................
And our womens team defected to Villa and from you know who.................yep you guessed it!!
Now do you like chillies on your pizza's or you can do without on Saturday?

The Allstars put Sturt Marion out of the cup last season. It was probably the Allstars most disciplined display. The Sturt keeper was quite solid at the back, caught anf held on to everything and in then end it was an own goal that gave the Africans the win. Strangely enough that looked like it was the only way he'd conceed a goal but 1-0 scoreline reflected the game over all. Both sides defended well.Monkey Boy wrote:IM sorry to burst your little bubble but marion will still win div 2. Villa runners up......

Saw your cup match at Plympton the other day and I have to say I don't think I saw any bad behaviour on that day.... even if the referee made some bizarre decisions.Covehead wrote:Hi Folks,

Good point Monkey Boy(how did you get that name?).Monkey Boy wrote:Fair enough. i think that often we play teams that we 'should have beaten', but didn't. The fact that you lost to them immediately puts you 3 points behind them, and now your playing catch up. I still think that having half of Sterling's first team from last year they will have the experience to not lose the league from where they are now..... You are in strife of beating them I think.....
Still early in the season and the fact that we have 8 of our first team regulars back from the first game of the minor round may change the dynamics of the game next time we play Sturt, which is now the cup round tie! Bring it on Sturt!

Re: Villa will take out Div 2.
They did their fair share of whingeing today. The referee wasn't particularly good, but the Cougars carry on was just as bad.southunited wrote:Enjoy that game... Wouldn't surprise me if that game gets abandoned... Cougars are the biggest bunch of whingers we have played all year.... Plus they are very physical and love to get stuck in, i have absolutely no problems with them playing like that but if you can dish it out surely you should be able to take it as well... As for the cougars, that isn't the case....Bodø Glimt wrote:Villa and the Cougars better put on a good show this saturday because that's the game I've chosen to go and see.
