Re: Caution - Look out for syringes and other dangerous items.
I work for the local council and from our point of veiw we supply an after hours call out and the council will attend and remove these syringes. Who ever said Elizabeth and Salisbury tend to have more of a problem than other areas is fooling his self. atahe junkies dont care where they bang up and we have some of our hottest areas for this is at One Tree Hill and Hillbank. It depends where the dealers live. Use some old barbie tongs to pick them up and if you have to throw them in a sealable container. Council trys to discourage residents picking these uo so check with your local councils you can flag these areas and they will patrol these areas..
There is no I in team, but there is a u in suck...

You are a Biff. What precident, and or proof, have you got to back that comment up. I have played out in the "bad reputable areas" for twenty years and never come accross one in the area. But when i played in the parklands against West adelaide or Adelaide city, or even training for state and sasi at Angle Park (next to the grey hounds), you were guaranteed to find one. Are you just one of those wankers that has nothing better to do than hang shit of the fine upstanding residents of Elizabeth and Salisbury. Get a life.Uncle Bob wrote:The clubs around Salisbury and Elizabeth have a bad reputation for this kind of stuff

therefor given the current temperatures and the unlikely event that any 'wet' residue is left in these needles there is probably little chance that anyone would be infected. I have a young child who attends games and i wouldnt like to see it either.

I don't need any proof, anybody with a brain will tell you that Elizabeth and Salisbury have a bad reputation in Adelaide for all sorts of things. Now I'm not picking on you and it's not a personal thing and I might sound like a wanker which I'm not trying to be but I am just stating the truth IMO, in yours obviously not....so I am sorry but thats just what i think.

You are a biff Bob, the fact is that anywhere and anyone can get a bad reputation for anything, witnessed by the fact that there must be at least one MP that doesn't have a drug/alcohol/sexual perversion problem and yet they still make our laws. Take your blinkers off, wake up, smell the coffee it is a nasty world out there and the streets are not paved with gold with nice white picket fences in North Adelaide, Burnside and the like - this message was started to warn everyone of a problem in society as a whole not just certain areas.

Re: Caution - Look out for syringes and other dangerous items.
If, as a few of you have pointed out there is a ground /s that has a bad reputation then there needs to be several points of action.
1. as you are all doing, post information on a site like this.
2. Contact other clubs within your league to advise them of the incident t osave any problems down the track (hopefully as one pointed out coach gets there early and orders pitch indspection).
3 if club is aware and had regular prolbem then they should be made to at least conduct an inspection for safety and advise visiting team of problem area.
4. SAAFL needs to become part of the issue and write to local council and organisea meeting to deal with problems, this should also include the police as they maybe unaware of incidents and therefore have no idea this istaking place in the said area. They may increase patrols when available to routinely go through this area.
5. If SAAFL / club or council does nothing then a campagin should be organised with local media and members of parliment. This would at least highlight the potential and hopefully prevent any problems.
Just a thought
