Re: Serie A: Still the most beautiful league
I dont watch alot of Italian Football i must admit although it is one of the best leagues in the world theres no doubt about that but its not the most entertaining IMO i would much rather watch the English Premier League. The Italian league has got plenty of wonderful players and IMO it is alot more tactical although there is nothing wrong with that it is less entertaining

What about Valladolid 1-1 Real Madrid????Madridista612 what about Real Madrid 7-0 Valladolid????
And yet the best one of the lot is playing at Real Madrid....1 of your world champs even rejected AC Milan the Champions League winners in favour of playing UEFA Cup football with Bayern Munich. Calcio is full of Catanaccio and defensive football, most Italian teams will grab the lead and then kill the game off by throwing men behind the ball, tactical smart yes, entertaining and beautfiul....no. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have always been committed to beautiful football which is the principal reason why Capello was sacked despite winning the league with Real Madrid. Atletico, Espanyol, Villareal,Sevilla also all follow suit by playing an electric, exciting brand of football that quite frankly puts the Italian league to shame. So do we. 23 world champs all playing in Italy ring a bell?

Cannavaro left because he wanted to leave, otherwise he wouldn't still be at Real Madrid or Zambrotta with Barca, how does your arguement explain why Luca Toni left Serie A for the Bundesliga? Also what's so beautiful about rival fans being stabbed in Italian stadiums and riots occuring in both the stadiums and the streets, match fixing isn't very beautiful at all either. I'm sorry but when it comes to football, Serie A is as black as sin and boring to boot. I'm sorry for talking cabernet....next time i'll talk Riesling or Merlot.you are some sort of an idiot. Cannavaro only left cause Juve went down, if they hadn't he wouldn't have gone to your club. Stop talking cabernet please

Cannavaro (Juventus) and Ronaldo (Inter) did not win those awards based on thier playing time in la liga.It was for their World cup heroics.. which i believe is wrong but thats another issue.Madridista612 wrote:I would argue that La Liga is the most beautiful league. You have relegation threated teams such as Deportivo and newly promoted teams such as Almeria and Murcia taking points against the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. La Liga has also had the most Ballon D'or's in recent times. Cannavaro, Ronaldinho x2, Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo, Rivaldo. We also maintain a suitable level of home grown talent in our league with Raul, Villa, Guiza, Tamudo, Riera, Joaquin, Marchena, Albelda, Krkic, Guti, Sergio Ramos, Casillas, Valdes. As far as competitiveness goes though, that would have to go to the English Premier League, Manchester United have beaten Roma twice in the last 3 meetings and drew the other game. Liverpool defeated Inter twice in the last two meetings. Arsenal drew and then defeated A.C. Milan at the San Siro and Lazio didn't get past the group stage. It is for these reasons that I would say that entertainment wise La Liga is the best, when it comes to competitiveness though English Premier League has to be considered the best, atleast recently.
I think you'll also find Juventus & Milan have had the most Ballon D'or winners

lol okay I didn’t really want to make a big deal of this I just want to go and do my work. Perhaps I didn’t write what I meant clearly ,but seeing as I am dealing with someone that has an obvious brain defect ill spell it out in big letters. CANNAVARO DID NOT WIN HIS AWARD FOR HIS TIME WITH MADRID RONALDO DID NOT WIN HIS AWARD FOR HIS TIME WITH MADRID
example:Milan can say they have 6 Italian world cup winners in their team and that would be correct. But Oddo won the world cup as a Lazio player Do you understand?
Cannavaro won the golden ball as a juve player... sure perhaps they may have presented him the award at the Bernabeu. But he received and was credited with the award in the same season he was a Juventus player. Same goes for Ronaldo.
Another ignorant statement of yours regarding Recent times: kaka, cannavaro, shevchenko, nedved All won the award in the past five years. Is that recent enough?
i edited what i wrote, hope it cleared it up

mate im sorry but you're the one with the brain defect....check your facts....but both Ronaldo AND Cannavaro won the Ballon D'or WHILE PLAYING for Real Madrid....award received with Real Madrid....that would make them....Real Madrid's players. In the last 10 years, the Spanish league has had 5 players win the Ballon D'or and the Serie A has won 4.

Re: Serie A: Still the most beautiful league
ok perhaps it was a bit harsh to say you have a brain defect, but cannvaro won the award due to his efforts with Juventus/the world cup .Thus Not for his playing time with madrid. Like i said they may have had a presentaiton at the bernabeu.. and then you would go on the real madrid website and see him with the golden ball and in a madrid guernsey. So yes perhaps you had a ballon d'or player in your team, but he didnt win it playing for madrid. He won it playing for juventus and winning the world cup. Another example.. say if kaka transfered to Madrid this season, would you cliam that he won the ballon d'or at madrid as well? I think its pretty obvious he won the award due to his heroics with Milan. But yes i was a bit harsh, im sorry and cannavaro counts as your ballon d'or winner as well.
Juventus fans what are your views ??

Re: Serie A: Still the most beautiful league
Cannavaro was brilliant in the first half of 2006. Then he was legendary in Germany. If anything, his Real Madrid performances would have decreased his chances of winning .
He won it at Real, but won it for what he did for Juve, and mostly Italy.

This is why I said how would you know what he won the trophy for....I'm assuming that you're not part of the ESM board, therefore you wouldn't have a clue, he did play a considerable amount of time for Real Madrid before he was presented with the award.....had he still have been at Juventus I believe that he wouldn't have won anything....especially seeing as Juventus were in Serie B. I really can't see the Ballon D'or going to a 2nd division player.....Ballon D'platz (or whatever it's called) maybe, but Ballon D'or is too prestigious to give to a 2nd division player. LOL Kaka winning the Ballon D'or is the funniest thing i've ever heard, AC Milan came 5th in the Serie A....and by some miracle they still made the Champions League....amazing.....in no other league but Serie A does this happen.

Re: Serie A: Still the most beautiful league
I agree with what you are saying madridista, because you probably can claim Cannavaro as madrids ballon d'or winner.
But KHR is correct, he won it due to his season with Juventus and more so because of the world cup which happened in 2006. The award is for the 05/06 season of football, Cannavaro didnt play for Madrid that year
you are aware of this right?
But i think fifa recognises both teams so for example it wil probably say Cannavaro - Juventus/Madrid
realistically it should only say Juventus.
Oh and for the record the Serie A dwarfs the other leagues in relaiton to Ballon D'or winners. Not saying its the best league atm though.

In the 05/06 season Milan came 5th with the ORIGINAL points deduction (something ridiculous like 45 points) but the FIGC changed the penalty (to something like 7 or 8 points....MAJOR difference) allowing them to out rank Palermo (I think it was) and also Chievo Verona I believe but this was less significant as Chievo Verona still made the Champions League. It is only by this manner that Milan were able to enter the Champions League....and win it the next season....therefore allowing Kaka to win the Ballon D'or.....but really what can you say about the FIGC....atleast they're STARTING to get their act together now if only they could control the crowd violence....sending AS Roma to the Serie B for a few years would be good.

Re: Serie A: Still the most beautiful league
Look I have nothing against you guys, forums are all about expressing differing, contrasting or concurring opinions and I wished to express mine. The topic was "Serie A: Still the most beautiful league" and I believe that Calciopoli, Catanaccio, riots and murders the very opposite of beautiful. It is this reasons that I chose to illustrate the reasons why I thought Serie A isn't the most beautiful league if you didn't want differing opinions than maybe you shouldn't be posting in an open forum where anyone can post replies.
Entertainment wise (in my opinion) the leagues would be ranked:
1. Spanish La Liga
2. English Premier League
3. Dutch Eredivisie
4. Portuguese Superliga
5. Italian Serie A
Competitiveness wise (again in my opinion)
1. English Premier League
2. Italian Serie A - Spanish La Liga

As a committed football fan I watch football as often as I can. I have Setanta Sports and therefore this gives me access to the only English speaking coverage of Italian football on TV. I watch Serie A atleast once a week and get to watch some of the away games for the top teams as well as the lesser teams. They're all shyte boring....one of the teams I don't see though is Pescara.....but I suppose that's because they're in Serie B. As I said, really it's nothing against any of you so don't make it personal but I just find Serie A really boring....take last year's league race for example....Inter STORMED away with it.....on the last match day in La Liga, 3 teams still had options of winning the title....that to me is more exciting than 1 team winning it in April.

Re: Serie A: Still the most beautiful league
I cant believe i am writing this.. but milan made the champions league because they deserved to.They finished 2nd after Juventus. They deserved to be there. With the original pts penalty milan were completely out of europe, but empoli was unable to compete in europe so Milan was able to compete in UEFA cup. After the 2nd trail Milans pts penalty was lessened and they were able to enter they champions league. During the proper season they finished 2nd though, and thats what you should focus on as from what ive read/seen they didnt do anything wrong.Madridista612 wrote:In the 05/06 season Milan came 5th with the ORIGINAL points deduction (something ridiculous like 45 points) but the FIGC changed the penalty (to something like 7 or 8 points....MAJOR difference) allowing them to out rank Palermo (I think it was) and also Chievo Verona I believe but this was less significant as Chievo Verona still made the Champions League. i aint taking it personally mate, i just find your view a bit obscure. We are in Serie C1, we got relegated from Serie B last season. Well I could start talking about how the Pirlo freekick struck Inzaghi's hand leading up to the goal in the Champions League final but lets put that point to rest, they obviously showed their quality as they ended up winning the tournament, my point was more so that as a part of the original points deduction they weren't meant to play in Europe, but i'm not really too fussed on this point and im willing to concede but as for whether Serie A is still beautiful....it's just not my scene, I don't enjoy it at all, the presentation, the football they play, the fact it was embroiled in a huge cheating scandal and the constant rioting and murdering are all things that detract me from watching a league that I just don't like watching anyway.

Serie C1 awww I used to use Pescara to win the Serie B on FIFA 06 lol.
And look man i'll be honest with you, i'm a bit of newcomer when it comes to leagues other than the Spanish league, and I was raised on a team that contained the likes of Raul (at his peak) Mijatovic, Suker, Seedorf, Roberto Carlos, Redondo, McManaman and Hierro (I say him because despite him being a centre back...he scored a tonne of goals and attacked heaps) then later on Figo, Zidane, Beckham, Ronaldo, Morientes. All of which are great attacking players....defence was never something I appreciated (although I play centreback for my club), and I still don't appreciate it, to me it's more of the cowards way out. I was raised on the Real Madrid philosophy of "you can score as many goals as you like but we'll always score more".

I have some kinda good news for you if you have Setanta Sports. Setanta Sports are going to try for the 1st package of Serie A next year (so all the Juve, Milan, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina etc matches) and they're also looking into the viewers choice option for sometime later this year, so hopefully the Serie A coverage will improve a little bit with that (although I don't think that will improve the picture quality but...oh well). I'm pretty sure RAI lost the coverage to package 1 this year to another channel....ERT I think it was which you can get on "SelecTV" .....not entirely sure but yeh....that's all the info I know about Serie A coverage.
