I agree Sir Eric should be committed!finderskeeper wrote:I don't believe it is the same Terry Hayes that used to play for Birkalla and the Cove etc. he'd be ~50 by now![]()
What about Steve Maxwell from Southern Knights and Ivan Zafran from the Vale they could pull the boots on again!
And nobody is doubting that anyone who wear the State shirt would be anything less than 100% committed,
I'm sure Eric Norman should be committed

Nicholls for sure, and Dunt is versatile, great midfielder and defender, so worth a call up.JayWalking wrote:David Eggars, Chris Nichols were two players that were in teams that didn't play as well as they can who should of been looked at. Went and watch Stirling on Saturday, East17. Some of their players have been told they are in squad but dont even know whats going on.
Sneaky little rumour! Lion to play a trial game against the State Squad in a game under lights. Not sure when though.
But as some us may know, our comitee isnt the most reliable bunch

Looking how the div 1 tables finished up, the best defenders are at Downs, Wanderers, Stirling and The Farm - that'd be a pretty good place to start if I were building a state team...
Best strikers again come from Downs, Stirling, Wanderers, Gardens, Lion & Vale
Good competition for midfield places, tough decisions there...

Bill Bailey was at the Stirling v. Wanderers game to ident a few players. It is my understanding that a few from both teams - including Butler, Goldstone, Hayes and Holding (Stirling), and Tasovac (Wanderers) - were going to be invited to training.redders wrote:Eggers must of been good in his day though. Lets look at it. The downs have conceded 12 goals this year and 13 last year... Thats outstanding in any league. We have a solid forward line and probably one the fitest and best mid-field in the league with out bein byast. we have played alot of teams and they have been breathing out of there arse by the half...Sirslapsalot wrote:Looking how the div 1 tables finished up, the best defenders are at Downs, Wanderers, Stirling and The Farm - that'd be a pretty good place to start if I were building a state team...

Just my opinion though!

come on redders if anyone can answer them you can! anyone tell me who else made the squad & who's the coach & who picks the coach? & why would you pick a player closer to 40 who's played 2 games when you have hundreds of quality kids playing amateur league & why with all due respect would the state team play LION???it's a f*ck'n discrace if you ask me if it's true! This is one of the reasons why these people need to be held accountable & they will be look out !!!

Whats wrong with playing Lion? They have the pitch and the lights and they play at the ground where the state team train. Plus they only just missed finishing 3rd in the league. They were probably the most skillful team we played all year. Seem like the logical choice to me. I agree about Drago though, he shouldn't of been picked due to only playing 3-4 games for the yearnugget66 wrote:come on redders if anyone can answer them you can! anyone tell me who else made the squad & who's the coach & who picks the coach? & why would you pick a player closer to 40 who's played 2 games when you have hundreds of quality kids playing amateur league & why with all due respect would the state team play LION???it's a f*ck'n discrace if you ask me if it's true! The people who nominate players for the Amateur League State team should be those who watch those players week in week out all year round.
Coaches from Div 1 & 2-Sat and Sun (possibly others!) should be called together with Mr. Norman to pick a squad of 30-40 players and then a reduced squad picked as a result of trials.
At present I think SAASL committee members and possibly Sir Eric the Norman go to a few games here and there and scribble a few names down.
Then you wouldn't find as many complaints circulating.

Nugget, I really have no idea who is in the squad, come along Wednesday and finda out. It's just a trial game, apparently the state squad has been added too and the game will be played in 30min quarters. It is abit harsh on us considering we havent trained in 2-3 weeks, but I think will be competitive enough.
I dont understand the Drago one. Not our choice, there are a whole host of players who we thought were more deserving of a spot. I guess they'll have a chance to prove themselves on Wednesday.
Any Gardens players in the Squad?

I know he should of I just like winding old nugget up before a weekend. They could pick 2 state teams and people will still think someone dipped out. I reckon Sir Eric is way out of touch with some of his decisions but he can do what he wants. Where does Mark Swann div 10 leading goal scorer come into the equation..?
