very very true, italians are the reason the neutral supporters tend to sway towards other sports beacuse they see it as weak and constant cheating, italians are world renound for this bullshit tactic. ask anyone what team they support besides their home country and they will barrack for anyone but italy, everyone hates italy, just ask the greeks and spanish, let alone the aussies. italians are not smart by diving, crying, time wasting, feining injuries (ALL THE TIME), its just cheap and boring, and you call yourself champions. :? . as for graham arnold, he has done a great job, but does not suit to be the aussies top coach, the players didnt hold the same sort of relationship they held with hiddink, they all knew he was a major icon so they all proved themselves and played 110% at their best, with arnold hes pretty much seen as a mate so they dont have anything to prove to him really. arnold does make a perfect assisstant coach for the aussies tho, because when they do sign another major icon coach, that coach will need graham to understand the players and build relationships with the players so the players play like they did at the world cup.

That is not everyone, you need to understand this. Yes I agree Greeks and Spanish love to see the Italians lose.

However just ask someone from Scotland, Ireland - let alone an Aussie how much he they barrack for the English. Ask the middle eastern countries how much they barrack for the u.s.a or england. At the end of the day italy deserve to be world champs but you wont hear me applauding them.

you'll find that over i europe rivalry between greeks and italians doesn't really exist. the greeks hate the turks and the italians have great rivalries with france and germany. and yes we do call ourselves deserved champions.

That is very true Laziale, the biggest applause given to a country as it entered the Olympic Stadium in Athens was............Italy. Greeks and Italians over in Europe see themselves as friendly neighbours, contrary to what most believe here. I think here its a case of we both settled here around the same time and apart from the so called "doggers" we had no one else to compete against hence the Greek/Italian thing here in oz but now you will find that we even here it is wearing thin. Anyway, you can sit here and call the Italians, divers and whatever you like but facts are they are the World Champions and thats the end of that. It seems that everytime someone wins something they gat bagged for it, just a sign of bad sportsmanship and sore losers in my opinion, yeah have a friendly dig at them when its fresh but dont keep going on and on about it because it gets boring after a while.................bloody divers

Italy were by far the most consistent and best team in Germany 06, and deserved to win it.

Back to the topic, why did arnold sub viduka and aloisi, leaving us with onli Nick Carle up front. It was pretty pathetic to watch as we defended for nearly the entire duration of the 30 minutes of extra time. Why did bresciano come off?? Why not Jason Culina, who was far inferior to Bresciano on the pitch. It all comes down to poor discision making from Graham, and it will be pleasing to see him get the boot.

In his defence though, the players realy let him down, especially in the shoot out. Harry...WTF were u doing. Neil and Schwarzer were also disappointments.

As for the diving issue, the Italians fell to the top. But in the end they kissed the trophy, and unfortunatly, the history books will say that they won Germany 06. We just have to got even in South Africa

well im not disputing the fact that the italians are the champs (for now), but its the way they achieved the feat. quite rightly and correctly morally you cant cheat your way to the top and call yourself true champions. you cant dive, feign injury, waste time, and all that and call your self sportsman like, its completely uncanny and very very unsportsman like. i just think its a respect issue that noone likes italy with cheating, england, germany, and australia sure dont cheat, they play hard, are sportsman like, but as soon as they so much as breath on the italian players, the italian goes down, the ref books the wrong player. its screwing up the game. italy have all the potential no doubt about that, but as soon as the day you dont see them cheat, then they can call themselves true champs.

and what the fuk are you talking about, besciano is not superior over culina, bresc only playes reserves for palermo, hes is not one of the aussie elite team, neill and shchwarzer were the best in the back, they knew what they were doing, the team has never played in conditions like these before. im sure as hell if they played the asian cup in english venues australia would have thrashed every team. aloisi was absolutly nackered, and viduka had a slight strain in his hamstrings, arnold wanted to keep them just incase aussie got through, kewell and cahill, and carle were the ones working their asses off trying to get atleast 1 goal to keep get the aussies back some recovery time, not to mention mark milligan, who was outstanding and still played all 120 minutes. to be honest im not suprised we lost that match, japan are used to the area and conditions, plus their stamina is unbelievable, saw their warm up programs and they do like 40 laps of the football pitch like every warm up. got nothing against japan, i hope they do win it (now anyways), but like cahill said, we were no where near ready for this tournament unfortunatly.

:? So italy are the only team that behave unsportsman like?
Bresciano made the most out of the Materazzi tackle and got him sent off, Frings suspended for punching an argentina player and Rooney stomped against portugal??
World cup champions and currently the best team in the wolrd!!
