State U14 All Results
Congratulations to ALL of the girls for their outstanding performances over the 6 games. They have done South Australia proud, and certainly raised a few eyebrows with their consistent, resilient performances. All players received approximately the same amount of game time. The players showed their diversity by playing in several positions during the tournament and maintaining the quality of their performances.
Mon
SA 1 - 0 VIC Metro (H-T 0-0)
Goalscorer: Daniela Di Bartolo
Comment: A supremely dominant performance with the SA goalkeeper not having one save to make for the entire match. In the 40th min Daniela weaved past 2 defenders and placed the ball in the corner to finally break their resistence. With better luck in front of goal, the score would've been 5 or 6.
Tue
SA 2 -1 VIC Metro (HT 0-1)
Goalscorers: Daniela Di Bartolo, Sarah Votino
Comment: We dominated again but couldn't convert. A long shot from VIC put them up 1 min before half time. Daniela dribbled past 2 defenders again and slotted past the keeper to equalise in the 45th minute. With 30seconds to go, Rebecca Sullivan made a telling run down the right wing and cut the ball back beautifully for Sarah to hammer home.
Wed am
SA 1 - 4 NSW Metro (HT 1-1)
Goalscorer: Alicia Nickolas
Comment: Very blustery conditions made playing football very difficult for all teams. A goal from a set piece was their first goal, but we rallied and equalised when Alicia followed up a goalkeeper fumble. A dubious free kick for their second and (IMO) a poor penalty decision for their 3rd caused our loss of focus when they immediately added a fourth. For the last 20min we peppered their goal but couldn't convert.
Wed pm
SA 1 - 1 NSW Ctry (HT 1-0)
Goalscorer: Rebecca Sullivan
Comment: Dominated again without denting the scoreline. Finally a superb Chloe Green through ball allowed Rebecca to run in on goal and pass the ball into the corner. They equalised with a long shot.
Thu - REST DAY
Fri
SA 3 - 2 NSW Ctry (2-1)
Goalscorers: Nicole Calder, Daniela Di Bartolo, Sarah Votino
Comment: A set piece goal let them in after 10min. Our resilience was demonstrated again as we created and shot relentlessly. A neat pass to Sarah 18yards out saw her turn and expertly slot the ball in the corner to equalise. Nicole then shot from 30yards that sailed into the top left hand corner. Lack of defensive cover let them in for 2-2 early in the 2nd half; but we refused to accept this result and a cross was spilled by the NSW goalkeeper with Daniela quickest to it to seal the win.
Sat
SA 1 - 1 VIC Ctry (0-1)
Goalscorer: Megan Deakin
Comment: VIC rode their luck as we unleashed attack after attack but they were first to score from a set piece. We rallied again and with 10 min to go a great long pass fron Tahlia Papas to Megan's feet saw Megan turn her defender from 18 yards and shoot accurately in the top left hand corner.
